Wednesday's big battle - Ramos vs Hughton

Wednesday sees Spurs take on the 'mighty' Newcastle - and the man who was sacked after a decade at the club - Mr Notepad himself Chris Hughton.

This is a major test - on and off the pitch - for Ramos.

The result is one thing, but should we lose, would Ramos' defeat to Hughton have an impact on the powers that be?

This will be a very interesting battle - and I very much hope Ramos comes out on top...

Will the board view this as significant or would this just be ' yet another defeat'?

Newcastle are the biggest joke in world football today. Their fans are in despair, their owner wants nothing to do with the club, the players a shite and I don't think Chris has won a game when taking over from Hoddle, Grayham etc when they were sacked.

The most amazing thing which is troubling: They are doing better than us in the league.

Truth is I couldn't give a stuff about this game, I think we really need to figure out how we are going to get three points at Pompey, if we don't I think we are in serious danger of facing the drop, not because we are not good enough, just because the confidence of this side is the worst I have seen.

I have seen every leauge game this season and I can say in all honestly, I have never seen such a bad Spurs side in all my time, the irony is that we have some great players in there.

This intense run of games is exactly what we need. The players can start to get some kind of rhythm and a few results under their belt. We are on a mini run of a shaky win with 2 well made and taken goals, and a goalless draw in which we looked pretty solid at the back. Not the best, but something to build on. Next up: a team who are not too solid at the back but can score goals. We know that we can field a decent back 5 now and O'Hara should add some strength and presence to our midfield. If we can somehow link the midfield with the strikers then we have every chance of going into the Pompey game with some confidence. Some creative spark from Bale, Lennon or Giovanni, some quality supply from Hudd and Bentley, JJ becoming the captain we need him to be against his old club. Any one of these could trigger the others.

We couldn't really wish for better opposition than a club in crisis.

I think we are improving, albeit too slowly for my liking, and I also think that without the boo boys, we'll probably do better away from home against Newcastle than we would have done at home.

Chris said to Dennis.

I am abit concerned that Chris might know a little bit too much about the weaknesses of soe our players.

Part of me would like to see Newcastle win, just to see Gibbs go into meltdown.

But does Chris know any of our players?

We don't even look like starting to gel though do we ?

Ignoring the fact that Modric is injured , we desperately need his creativity . The dillema is that in trying to incorporate him into what is a disfunctional side our results will not improve .

We've changed too many variables at once and not kept our reliable standbys like Steed to get us through this transition period .

Just cannot see us being able to put it right until January and even then it's not a foregone conclusion that we will .

This will be Chris's day in the sun. If we think there is such delicious justice in Keane misfiring and Berbatov looking moodier than even than imagine the whole heap of Karma coming CH way.

within the next 2 weeks we'll only have the FA cup left to distract us from our relegation battle.

I think you should, because if we go out the team's confidence is going to drop still further and this place is going to go into meltdown.

I don't think people realise the very real danger of relegation that we are facing. I think we need to win every game we can at moment, but this is the worst spurs side in living memory. I have never seen us as bad as we currently are, and worse still, I don't see where or how we can turn it around.

In fairness, Doherty was more useful in this type of situation than Bent is. At least he could defend from corners even if he was rubbish up front!

The cup may be a way of getting some confidence, but we really need points and I cannot see us getting any from Pompey.

If we are bottom after 10 games we will go down!
