Instead of spending preseason touring Asia and the US like we usually do I think we should be spending it at Wembley. Get some big teams at Wembley so the players can get used to playing regularly on a pitch that size and start settling in for the season.

Wembley syndrome will only be a problem if Poch consents to it by allowing it to become an excuse. The trouble with the modern player (and people in general) is that if they are offered an excuse to underperform, not give a shit or generally fuck up then they will grab it with both hands because it's always going someone or something else's fault. Accountability is only for the most expendable, least important.

And the sad irony is that it will be those who were most pro Wembley that will be calling for Poch's head.

Well I was very keen to go initially but after 5 minutes of the Monaco game you could tell it was rubbish.

Next season will be tough, but you're right, people won't understand.

Really? We're currently sitting in 3rd with the joint best defence in the league...

With regards to Wembley there's something I just hate about watching us play there. Always feels flat and drowned out, the performances are dull and patchy. Actually we are quite reminiscent of England when we play there.

There's just something about the stadium/pitch that isn't good IMO. I've always said that finals that are played there always feel different (as in more flat and less exciting) to league games, even if it's the exact two same teams. I will not feel optimistic about our season at all if we play there next season.

Luck wasn't on our side last night. Dele had a shocker and it was uphill from the first leg which we played terribly in. Last night was not Wembley's fault.

I'm honestly not worried about Wembley next year. I don't think it'll be easy or go completely smoothly but I don't think it'll be a disaster like many are saying.

This year it's been a 'special ground' for us. With 'big' European nights there. I think that is more of a factor than Wembley itself. I think a regular game vs Bournemouth or Burnley etc will be fine. We have issues against the big teams already so we need to fix that but that's not Wembley's problem.

Aside from that we are still badly missing Rose. He gives us so much more. I know it's not the greatest of excuses but have we played at Wembley this season with what we'd call our first team when everyone is fully fit? I feel we've always had at least one key player out so far. Not a great excuse but one worth keeping in mind.

Basically I think this pitch will be a factor next season but it's more down to our team. Our mentality is changing but not fast enough. That's the main issue.

Can someone explain why Son decided to play through the middle after five minutes of coming on? When he first came on for Davies he caused their right back all kinds of trouble; he had him back peddling into the box, where he was then terrified of touching him. Then he went wide right for a minute and did the same, and then just seemed to sit next to Kane where it was so congested?

Crazy night. After such a good start we didn't seem capable of switching it up a gear. Dele was having a poor game by his standards, and Kane looks tired.

I'm not sure Gent raised their game today did they? We couldn't take our chances and they scored both theirs.

Not really sure we can blame Wembley for that

I agree. I was talking partly from a fans perspective though. It's pretty rubbish going there.

I will take heart in the fact that there was a large rendition of "oh when the spurs" going round late in the second half, so it is possible to get a large portion of the ground singing together.

Brilliant idea. We won't though unfortunately.

Is the new WHL going to have dimensions like old WHL or closer to those at Wembley?

I'm absolutely dreading Wembley next season. For some weird reason, it's just not conducive to a club team doing well there.

I'm still not sure why Craven Cottage isn't being touted more. Perhaps there's some logistical or scheduling issue I'm unaware of, but I think it'd be a reasonable shout.

Cons: Probably £20m less in gate receipts than Wembley
Pros: CC's 25k capacity is not dissimilar to WHL's current capacity, so it'll feel normal-ish; much cheaper to rent than Wembley; we'll almost certainly play better there than at Wembley, in a season when we really, really want to finish Top 4 to show off our new stadium in the CL; it's in London proper.

Above all, the loss in gate receipts would be pale in comparison to the losses accrued from a mid-table season.

Couldn't agree more. Provided we can overcome the local authority red tape, Craven Cottage should be strongly considered. Wembley is awful IMO.

Lol, how many of you now begging we don't go to Wembley were demanding we played there when we learnt about the season away?

Wembley wasn't the issue last night, once again though it's fucking hilarious that after the vast majority of fans and the supporters trust etc. implored Levy to get us playing there and no other option would do that they've already had enough of it

The amount of space the wing back system gave us on the wings was crazy, so much space on that Wembley pitch.
