Yep 4 points from 2 games is shit isn't it?

Christ I hate them more than Woolwich. At least with certain Woolwich fans you can have some reasoned football conversation (my barber is a goon and fairly normal o_O) but Liverpool literally think no other clubs exist for any reason other than to lose to Liverpool.

It seems loads of us are in agreement over this. They have so many more annoying fans.

From 'This Is Anfield'...nothing on RAWK so I had to shop around...

0-0 Last time - very frustrating game from what I remember.
It was Klopp's first game in charge.
We had Mignolet to thank for the point that day - did some excellent saves.
Lloris shouldn't be involved so hopefully Vorm has a really bad day.

Game to play out as follows:

Lamela is sent off for assaulting Mignolet after pulling off a point blank double save.
Kevin Stewart then beats Vorm with a 40 yard lob.
Vorm is then nutmegged from outside the area by Lallana and left flat footed from a 30 yard hopeful shot from Sturridge.
Mane is then brought down in the penalty area by a combined effort of Vorm, Alderweireld and Vertonghen which results in a red card for all three (due to them all having been booked already).
Sturridge's penalty is saved by stand in keeper Harry Kane but the rebound is safely tucked in by Milner.
A combination of Pochettino's celebrations at the initial penalty save and anger at the rebound being scored results in a scuffle in which Klopp ends up with a bleeding nose and Pochettino is given a 3 game stadium ban.

Final score 0-4.

Spurs haven't really come out of the blocks blazing, they got wins in them against any top 4. We need to be on our game.

I think there'll be more towards the end of the week...slim pickings at the mo.

Really hope we have Pochettino for at least 2 more seasons.

You may have him for more. I understand that the player and coach facilities being built at Hotspur Way are top notch. No expense spared. The stadium facilities for the home team and manager likewise. Pukka! It will leave everyone else for dead. He is going to be operating with the best infrastructure of any coach in Europe.

Match preview from RAWK which is very....RAWKISH in my opinion.

Jurgen Klopp will take his team to the site where his career as a Liverpool manager started a little less than a year ago against a team that will most likely be a direct rival for a top four spot at the end of the season. Both teams had mixed results at the first two rounds of the league, Spurs, looked second best for the most part in their season opener against Everton, in a game where they lost their starting goal keeper Hugo Lloris due to injury, only grabbing a draw and it took them the best part of 83 minutes to unlock Crystal Palace's defense, this past Saturday to beat Alan Pardew's men with a goal that came off a set piece. Maurico Pochettino's men haven't looked at their best so far especially in the middle of the park where Moussa Dembele's vision and Dele Alli's energy have fired them to third place last season.

Liverpool on the other hand, managed to show their absolute best and worst so far in the 180 minutes that have been played. Against Arsenal, Klopp's men managed to score four past their opponents, with three goals coming in the first 20 minutes of the second half, however, they almost let their three goal advantage slip by conceding twice, winning 4-3 in a game that looked almost over when the score was 4-1. Against Burnley, Klopp's men looked bereft of ideas of how to get into any scoring areas and despite having %81 of the possession, they looked clueless and lost 2-0 with a lot of question marks hanging over their backline especially the left back and the holding midfielder positions.

Both managers love their teams to press early and high up the pitch when the opposition's defense have the ball. Spurs & Liverpool usually cover more kilometers per match than most teams in the league, so it is safe to say that the real battle will be in the middle of the park.

Pochettino preferred to start both league games so far with Victor Wanayama and Eric Dier in a midfield of two with Dele Alli being dropped in the home game against Crystal Palace for Victor Jensen essentially changing the formation from 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2 with Eriksen and Lamela occupying wide roles in both games. It is fair to say that he will revert back to a 4-2-3-1 to match the physicality of Liverpool's midfield which so far in the league have been represented by Lallana and Wijnaldum with Henderson playing a holding midfielder behind them in a 4-3-3 formation. Depending on his injury status, Emre Can might start in Henderson's role, offering more protection to the back four which will probably see Joel Matip start his first league game in place of Ragner Klavan. The former Schalke defender will have, the difficult task of marking last season's top goal scorer Harry Kane in his league debut for the Reds.

Upfront for the Reds, is where it gets interested, Klopp started the game against Arsenal with Firmino in the middle with Mane and Coutinho behind him on the wings, however with Mane injured for the second game, he started Sturridge in his place and surprisingly, the Englishman played most of the game as a right inside forward. In the midweek, league cup tie against Burton Albion, Mane, who has been a revelation for Liverpool so far, regained his position with Origi playing a central striker and Firmino shifted to the left, the Reds scored three goals before Sturridge was introduced in place of Origi and scoring a brace himself. Jurgen Klopp certainly has the options up top but needs to start with a recognized Center Forward as Liverpool lacked any presence in the opposition's penalty area against Burnely, because Sturridge, Coutinho and Firmino all dropped deep to demand the ball and no one stood on the shoulders of the last defender in the box, which limited Liverpool's options to shots from 35 yards.

It is going to be a tight affair, if the reverse fixture from last season at Anfield taught us anything

Ok so they know we can beat any of the top four on our day. What about beating Liverpool, they seem to have forgotten to talk about themselves :sneaky:

They're talking about the match now...well the sensible ones are...

Not sure what the final score will be but I do know this will be a completely different game to Burnley. Spurs aren't going to sit back and defend and that will suit us because we always play better against teams who play football. Like Arsenal, it's probably in our favour to be playing them this early before they've really got in to any kind of rhythm. I can see us scoring here but I can see them scoring too. Our defence is just too fragile right now, and I believe we'd need to see an outstanding defensive performance to keep them out. Mané back is huge for us. He just gives the other team do much else to think about.

Key points for me:

- Don't start so nervous. Both games so far have seen us look really jittery. Just put your foot through it early on if defence get pressured. Can't afford a start like Burnley
- Can needs to play as the deepest lying midfielder. Henderson much better in a midfield 3 when he isn't the deepest.
- No point in Sturridge being on the pitch if he's going to be playing as attacking midfielder. Play him central
- Not going to be popular opinion this but for me Moreno has to start in this game. His pace will counter their pace on the left hand side. Both their full backs are pretty quick and need to combat that. Plus Waynama and Dier will make it difficult to go through the middle so we have stretch the play on the sides with pace
- Wijnaldum's runs in to the box could be important here, as the midfield transitions to attack, like the one he made for Lallana's goal. Needs to be prepared to get stuck in though as midfield cannot let Eriksen, Lamela and Alli play
- Coutinho needs not to try and win the game by himself if things aren't going well

Tough to figure out the team but Klopp has traditionally always gone with Firmino as the forward in a front 3 against the top teams. Team I think he'll go with:
Mignloet, Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Can, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Mané, Firmino

Can anyone remember a decent atmosphere or game in any fixture in the last few seasons?
Think it will work in our favour this time though. Early KO, reduced capacity in the ground and chuffing great hole in the stadium will lead to a shite atmosphere.
We weather the early advances, quieten the crowd then begin to impose ourselves.
A lot depends I think on the midfield performance. They hassle and press with as much energy, and perhaps a little more skill, than us. We need to move the ball quickly through the middle of the pitch, give it to mane, firmino, studge, sit back and watch the goals fly in.
2-1 the Reds.

Think these will pose more of a threat than Arsenal did a couple of weeks back.

Not going to end well for us I reckon. 2-0 Spurs win.

3-0 Liverpool. Sturridge 2 goals at least.

I really fear for us every single match we start with Mignolet in goal. I think we're going to need to score a bunch to win here. Thankfully we have the attacking flair to do that. Looking forward to another rollercoaster game!

Will be a tough game but we've a decent record there in recent times! Hopefully they dont have a shot on target though.

Spurs won't sit back so this game will suit us. It's the 'smaller' teams that worry me more.

This will obviously be a tough game, but I expect us to do a lot better than last week due to having less of the ball and more space for our attackers. The issue we have is defensively though, 5 goals conceded in two games, and I think this will be our undoing in a narrow defeat.

Could anybody ask those over at RAWK to clarify for me; Which team has a loss so far this season and which has not?

From various CSKA Moscow forums after the draw, pt1:

Tottenham must be weaker this season. They punched above their weight last season, now they're stagnating, primarily in terms of manager's thinking
*expletive* I'm lost for words. Was hoping for "2 bad c**ts + 1 acceptable" combination. But no... what happened is "2 bad c**ts + 1 VERY bad c**ts"
A decent draw. An even group, no grands, we can challenge anyone on evens. No obvious passengers too. Expecting good fights. We can finish anywhere from 1st to 4th place.
Not bad away days. I think Tottenham IMHO will be a hot encounter, they have great home support
We're lucky with Bayer, unlucky with Monaco, Tottenham - normal. All in all a normal group
A short summary of the draw: We're f***ed. No spring for us.
Leicester are sponsoring the CL, lol?
Why oh why every group stage draw is a hell for us?
A bit unlucky with the 4th pot. If it wasn't for Monaco, I'd say we have every chance. But now...
We're such losers it's ridiculous. Again the 4th pot strongest team and Spurs are the strongest out of 3rd pot
Whining has commenced... Not even 5 minutes have passed
Unfortunately we didn't get Barca again. Didn't get Bayern again. Didn't get any grands, just some serious European middling teams. We have every chance to play decent football against them. Tottenham's leaders were run into the ground by Iceland. Monaco are inconsistent but ambitious, so they have every reason to be anxious. I can't say anything about Bayer but Germans are Germans. If we play our attacking game we've got chances.

From various CSKA Moscow forums after the draw, pt2:

I don't follow EPL but hear THFC played the best last season. But having to balance the league and Europa and with their DM missing several EPL games, they bottled the 1st place. But they had a good run in EL.

So Spurs are clear favourites for me but they might take their CL games lightly especially if their fixture come straight after Arsenal matches in EPL, so we might have chance if this will be the case. In fact Tottenham is the only team that is a guaranteed out of the group. With everybody else we can play to win.
I see our chance are
5% - 2nd place (I'm an optimist)
40% - 3th place
55% - 4th place
We're able to oppose Tottenham. We like to play against such teams. It's just that physically they're far superior.
Tottenham's form is irrelevant, Pocchetino will outplay Slutsky any day of the week. Best we can hope for is 2 points in 2 games against the English.
A gulf in class is so large that CSKA can take points from Tottenham only by accident. Just like we drew with Arsenal in London in 2006 with only a single attack, while we should have shipped 5 or 6 goals.
I'd say the story of the last few years in CL was like this: we can fight for the 3rd place but we don't need it much, so 4th place is just what the doctor ordered
Tottenham's 2nd XI under Pocchetino would never lose to CSKA of today, I hope you understand. Just recall the Korean guy who played against us in WC2014 - he's one of those warming the bench for Tottenham.

As usual RAWK saying we will get knocked out in the group stage, and Red Cafe saying we'll win it
