Not a must win game by any means, but certainly a must not lose. If we're going to end up fighting for top four this season, Spurs will most likely be a direct rival. We cannot put ourselves in a position of already being four points behind them after a mere three games (and likely six points off the top)
I can't say I'm too confident about getting a result, but it's too early in the season to make any definitive predictions. How good are we really? How good is Spurs compared to last season? Hard to say at this stage, let's wait and see. Saturday should reveal much about both teams.
Spurs haven't set the world alight in their first two games. I can't see them posing a significant domestic threat this season, especially when the European games kick in. Wouldn't even surprise me if we leathered them on Saturday, all a case of which Liverpool side turns up and if we can eradicate our brain freezes. A win would be a great high to take into the international break. Had we been offered six points from Arsenal, Burnley and Spurs away at the start of the season, I'd probably have taken it. Just wouldn't have thought the three dropped would've come at Burnley, but that's the way it goes. Really hope Mane and Can stay fit, they're both already looking integral this season.
Very tricky this if Can wont be playing, the midfield of Lallana Wijnaldum and Hendo is too soft to face someone like dembele. Lets just hope he wont be playing, as he usually plays well against us.
We will smash them. I am not being all rose tinted glasses. I have a very good feeling. Spurs are a good team but this season we are stronger the same game last season.
I want spurs to be at their absolute best, like every other opposition we face, that is when we will learn and grow to be the absolute best of the best again.

mignolet in goal, no new left back, Henderson still starting , no can , no DM, no coutinho . Spurs win all day long. Convincly. 3-1. Another defeat going into a 2 week break would see us already 6pts off the top teams. Nothing has changed from last seasons team. Absolutely nothing !!
Reasons to be optimistic:
- coming off the back of a very morale-boosting win
- we tend to do well in the bigger games
- Spurs won't park the bus
- Mane is fit
- Spurs don't have a great LB (Thinks he getting confused with their left back and ours)

Never thought i'd say this but Kevin Stewart could honestly be the difference between winning and loosing. Clearly not the most gifted of players (although he could just be a late bloomer), but can certainly do a job in defensive midfield, he's good enough to the point in which when given clear instruction for one role (stay back, shield the defense, never stop moving - he'll want to work hard to prove himself) he can do it well and provide the security and backbone we need, especially if he emulates his Barcelona cameo. I would even go as far as saying that he could become a good player, if he makes the defensive midfield role his own.

I genuinely don't know which group of fans I dislike more...Chelsea or Liverpool. Probably Liverpool as they have to be the most deluded ****s on the planet. They're about as relevant as Simple Minds...big in the 80s but just embarrassing these days.

Spoke to a Liverpool fan today. What a muppet. So deluded. Where do they get their optimism?
Conversation went like this:
Me: Who did you get in Europe?
Him: you'll be out in the group stage
Me: well we've got a great chance to progress
Him: we will smash you tomorrow anyway.
Me: I wouldn't be so confident.
Him: we murdered arsenal cos they tried to play football v our gegen press. You will do same tomorrow and we will score 3 or 4
Me: we conceded only more than 2 goals in 1 game last season, the last game of the season. The difference between us and Arsenal is we can defend.
Him: Bollocks. Anyone who tries to play football against us loses.
Me: but we press better than you do. With more skill and higher up.
Him: nah we will pick you off on the counter
Me: you won't have the ball to catch us on the counter and if you do then we have 2 great CBs, and two animals at DM. Our fullbacks are quick enough to recover for a counter attack as well.
Him: Moreno is better than Rose though.
Me: ........
Him: ha no reply. I'm right.
Me: Missed Gary Neville a analysis of Moreno then? I hope Moreno starts tomorrow Walker and Lamela will have a field day.
Him: Moreno is amazing going forward.
Me: he's the worst defender I've ever seen, which is what he's employed to do. If he worked for me he'd have been sacked already.

Do not know how but found a few Liverpool fans on Redcafe of all places and two post rattled my interest.
I dont think our defence is as bad as people think, we've conceded the fewest shots in the league. Its not our defenders fault virtually every shot on target ends up in the back of the net. Mignolet has conceded 5 from 5 on target in the league. He is quite literally the worst keeper in the league, his save percentage is at the bottom of the pile.
And i swear i saw similar stats to these circulating at one point last season too. Its atrociously bad and beggars belief hes even considered good enough to be a no2. He may re discover his form at another club and eventually develop in to a good GK, but his career here is done.
Klopp's first game, think it was Spurs was uneventful. I can see Poch trying to spoil the game. He's can be very pragmatic if he wants to. Both sides are capable of giving each other a serious beating. I think both coaches would be happy with a draw this early, and that's what we will get imo.

I always like to get some reasoned and informed perspective from the opposition after a game. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of going on to RAWK where I chanced upon this post. It's not particularly witty or original, but it does get across the angst they feel at having not secured the win and it is quite fun to read out in a Scouse accent..
