It was a blatant dive. KWP did everything to avoid contact and Gayle threw himself at him Vardy-style, which he has a habit of doing.

If Gayle wasn't offside, then he would have been further back and away from the ball which would then have given KWP more time to reach and clear the ball. Either way, it wouldn't be a penalty.

I totally get why op fans dislike Dele. Part jealousy, part he is a wind up merchant and has a fair bit of attitude. I'd probably call him a **** if he played for a rival. He doesn't though and I love the guy. They'd love him too if he played for them.

To be fair, if he would be playing for Chelsea everyone on here would be going on about how he is a "perfect fit for that bunch of cheats" etc. I love him now though, playing for us.

Its such a pointless debate, what would've happened if x y etc....but what i will say is with 50k horse punchers screaming at the ref, it would've come as no surprise if it was given, rightly or wrongly.

I'm not really sure what Dele did to wind anyone up yesterday.
Just being his usual irritating, brilliant self...watch the build up to the sending off again, its pretty obvious, Shelvy tries to take a quick free kick but Dele holds onto the ball stopping him...winding up Shelvy enough for him to tread on him.

But that's nothing, why anyone is talking about Dele the way they are is grossly unfair imo.

I think the point is that Alli showed how much he has matured over the past couple of years, knew what was going on, and had a counter strategy.
Tubby Spanish Waiter sent his team out to wind Alli up, put him off his game and hopefully get him a card. It back fired spectacularly, and one of his own ended up back in the dressing room after completely losing his head.
Look at the smirk on Allis face in the post match interview with KWP when talking about the incident - says it all really.

Agreed, as is the criticism he gets from a lot of our fans, imo.
Just to clarify he doesn't irritate me, i mean how he irritates our opponents.

PS...better change the thread title buddy, its past its use by date ;)

Everyone holds up the ball like that. Dele does it with a cheeky grin. That's what winds up the opposition. He loves it.

The opposition should be able to keep themselves in check though. Shelvey reacted because he's a nasty piece of work. That's nothing to do with Dele.

Last season he got one ban for elbowing and another for racially abusing an opponent. Didn't take him long to carry that on.

A Newcastle supporting friend tried to tell me last night that Dele shouldn't have tried to rile him because he must of known that Shelvey ran on a short fuse, and that Dele should be banned too for making him lose his temper.

He was deadly serious too :D

People are just damn jealous of Alli. He only cost 5 M so the song goes.

Also people should remember this is a kid doing what he loves growing quick in the media spot light. Last season Alli would of reacted instead he showed maturity.

I agree but I do worry another player will target him and properly in sure him soon should he continue to be a WUM

I'm not really sure what Dele did to wind anyone up yesterday.

He was generally being a bit of a shit as usual, there was a free kick given in the first half and he body checked a Newcastle player before the free kick was taken (I think it was Lacelles), Lacelles reacted and Shelvey came and got between them, there were definitely words exchanged at that point between Alli and Shelvey. About 10 minutes later Alli won a free kick, stood over it and did the whole dummy thing 2 or 3 times. For the red Alli grabbed the ball then when Shelvey went to pick it up he nudged it away, Shelvey reacted the way he did and the rest is history. I'm not condemning Alli by the way, I love it, for far too long we were the "nice guys" of the league. I love me some sledging, a very under appreciated part of the mental game!

I can't understand some our comments online about Alli...he is this he is that if he was playing for another team I'd probably think what a **** too blah blah.

Did you not see the goal Alli scored that was world class, furthermore what did he actually do wrong if anything he was the one receiving fouls then abuse from the fans because they are jealous ... Lets get this into perspective he's not in a D Costa mold, who for me is a proper nut case.

Last season and the one before, opposition were trying to wind Dele up all the time. He's grown and matured a lot, and turned the tables. If that tit shelves got himself all in a knot over something that petty, then his problem.
Perception is often greater then reality, as is the case with the view of dele. He's a skilful and committed player who wants to win.

Did I miss the WUM part he played against Newcastle. Please enlighten me where that took place in that game...on a serious note in case I'm just missing the point

That's an important part of the winning mentality. It may not be particularly 'sporting', but the mental battle of making the opposition see 'red' and stop concentrating is a key part.

Let's not forget, the boy is a good footballer.

Steady on, world class goal is a bit of a reach, good run by Alli and a "world class" ball from Eriksen. Alli is a fantastic player, no doubt, but to suggest he's the victim in the majority of cases would be wrong, he knows how to get under the skin of people and that's part of the reason he's a fantastic player and not just a good one. You can't use Diego Costa as a litmus test for players attitude, everybody looks like saint compared to that dick.
