Beats me why anyone takes much notice of what this fat, squeaky little runt has to say.
The fact that he earns money at Chelsea supporter events giving speeches on his past activities (probably most of it made up) says a lot about that club as a whole.

Sir, you failed to mention the horrendous grammar.:pompous:

Somehow, Spurs have had strong support in Norway for years despite the lack of glory. We may of course nevertheless be infected with glorygrabitus, but perhaps we're just not as bright as the swedes when it comes to effectively satisfying the cravings of the bug?

We've always had a stable following in Norway mostly I think because we've always had outstanding individuals that people are drawn to and apart from 75-78 we were always a good watch and a team people were excited about seeing when we were shown live back in the days where we got one 3pm kickoff live every Saturday. Glory hunters obviously went for Liverpool (and there are loads of them) but we were a team people recognised and largely appreciated.

Then fast forward to when we went to shit and we had the Norwegian contingent of players - first Erik, then Iversen, Baardsen, Leonhardsen and even some squad fillers like Grodås and Nilsen who I can't remember if ever got a game for us. That still really helped us keep a strong-ish following even when the glory hunters went to Man U and Arsenal while the Pool fans of the 70s largely convinced their kids to follow the same path.

As for Swedes, is Edman the only one we've had? Can't remember others if there were.

I was drawn into supporting Spurs by my maths teacher in elementary school, who by his own admission was a "glory hunter", having watched us lift the league cup on norwegian TV a couple of times in the early seventies. This same teacher is part of the reason why many of the boys in my school ended up supporting Spurs at a time we weren't exactly great, but like you say we had lots of Norwegian players, and of course Klinsmann (seen in my avatar.. :)).

I remember my first game was watching Spurs beat my local team in a friendly some time in the early ninties. Have been hooked ever since.

Not much from Crystal Palace lot yet. Seem very keen on Zaha right now.

"Don't fancy this. Spurs are currently making Real Madrid look pretty ordinary"

"To be fair Real Madrid have been really quite s***e, their defending has been toilet and going forward quite predictable. Nobody has been doing Wilf stuff for them. Saw some of their game against Girona at the weekend and they were similarly toilet then. So yes maybe that result flatters Spurs a bit.

But Spurs have played Real Madrid off the park. Stopped Ronaldo from functioning and Bakary Sako has been trying hard but he isn't exactly Ronaldo. Oh, and per the OP (
Ref is Friend) of course Spurs will be playing with twelve men."

"Hoping for no injuries (Wilf), a decent performance, and a narrow defeat at worst (and who knows, maybe nick something)"

"Wilf will love the open space Wembley provides"

"Hopefully he'll enjoy the open space the Spurs defenders provide."

Chelsea fan at work was talking about Loftus Cheek [he's been banging on about RLC for a couple of years now].

To summarize:
  • RLC is more talented than WInks. Can do everything Winks does and more
  • Winks is only ahead because he has been given the opportunity whereas RLC wasn't even trusted when they were near the relegation zone
  • Embarrassing for Chelsea that their two best academy players have been called up for England before they've been given a chance at Chelsea
I've not too familiar with Loftus Cheek beyond what others have said about him so will keep a watch on him on Sunday. Seems the chickens are coming home to roost regarding the Chelsea youth policy now though.

Southgate will surely know him from england youth days...

Just a couple of youth players some years back,
Oscar Jansson, played one first team friendly I think. Between the posts in Örebro now.
Jon Jönsson, now in Elfsborg after playing for Malmö and a brief spell in Toulouse and Brøndby, three time Swedish league champion.

The Palace fans seem quite hopeful (well, some do). I haven't taken much notice but have they really improved much since Woy took over?

The only difference is Zaha is back.

Sunday is a banana skin for sure. They will park the bus and be lively on the break. It won't be easy for the players to get up for this game after Madrid and a fast start is essential to set the tone and hopefully get an early goal.

Early kick off won't help with the atmosphere at the enormodome, an early goal would be ideal.

I know I'm derailing the thread again, but I think that if RLC, Gomez and Winks impress then it could really pave the way for Southgate to integrate more players from the successful youth sides into the squad at the expense of some (relative) oldies who most would say are only in the squad due to a lack of options.
