Just a bit of a sidetrack but interesting nonetheless, City fans on Walker. I thought he was regarded a bit better over there to be honest:

He’s been getting away with stuff for a few months, he was punished tonight just like he did against Wigan. He’s still been great, but needs to sharpen up.

Think he has been a weak link all season. Really dont understand how so many people rate him so highly. Is prone to so many brain farts. Has at least one obvious one per match. Doesn't offer much in an attacking sense. Doesn't add to our build up in any noticeable way. He's outstanding physically but aside from that, I am struggling to see it.

I'm aware this sounds harsh but if we want to be the best in Europe, he needs to be a lot better. Will reserve total judgement til Mendy comes back.

At Tottenham he was much more attacking RB than here. Here he has 1-2 really speedy runs into the box every 5 games. At Spurs he had per game.
Even Zabaleta was more of a threat to arrive in/around the box and he had hardly any pace.
Has to be limited tactically by Pep for some reason.

I think his entire purpose is to stop counter-attacks with his pace, which is why he doesn’t bomb on so much. He’s just there as a fail-safe should they break on us. And it works for the most part. Against sustained attacks though... well that’s different!

Totally agree.
I said on the matchday thread that if he wasn't quick he'd be a Championship player at best and I stand by that. Complete lack of a football brain.

Should have cleared the first goal but also wasted the ball on so many occasions in the second half. He really can't cross to save his life!

Just clear the ball lad,2 chances to do so,as they said when we were younger if in doubt kick it out, poor from him last night, and has anyone noticed he's becoming a bit of a McManaman in the pointing game ?

Last night highlighted his deficiencies in big games. Fast runner but not a top defender

The one thing we didnt want to do tonight was gift the Dippers an early goal , but Walker did just that , really cannot understand why our players save their biggest cock ups for Klanfield , Stones and Ederson in the 3-4 and Walker tonight , he was also left exposed with no right winger in our team , but still the best right back in europe in my view.

Wigan away, Burnley away, Liverpool away. Not been good enough defensively in recent months and it's turned into a malaise rather than an off-game. Needs to concentrate and think about what he's doing. Another incomprehensible mistake if you're paying attention, concentrating and reading the game.

Needs genuine competition.

An incredible athlete, but prone to massive brain farts. I genuinely can’t remember the last time he put in a decent cross either.

£50m well spent then

Still think Aurier is going to be the better all-round player.
I agree, and think Moura and Aurier will be absolutely awesome down the right next season. After a good pre-season, in a shiny new stadium... I am truly excited. Walker had his time, and we got a great fee for the work Poch did to improve him. I think we will see hum regress now, and as he ages, he cant rely on his pace as much. A good deal for us all round!

Fuck me, turns out it wasn’t just my “personal agenda” after all.

It's deja vu all over again.:)

I was watching the game last night and did think every time City went forward and gave it to Kyle Walker it stopped and turned back again, he never even tried to get a cross into the box.

I’m struggling to think of a single witty spurs song/chant. We best not sing anything.

Oh Ledley, Ledley. He’s only got one knee. Is that witty? No. Love it

Oh when the Spurs. Is that witty? Not especially seeing as it’s just ripped off Southampton. (I know they didn’t invent the tune before anyone says)

We are Tottenham super Tottenham. No

Thing I love most is being a yid. I think this is a bit witty but not really. Great song, though.

In terms of taunts you’ve got your “your grounds to big for you” “is there a fire drill” “1-0 and you fucked it up”

Im sure I’m missing some but none of these are particularly witty. I think the most witty ones are kind of spur of the moment, spontaneous jokes but you try being witty after 10 pints.
I find that's when I'm at my wittest, charming best, maybe not for everyone around me though.

I'll always maintain that Poch's system flatters fullbacks. They're given ample protection against the counter because the CBs spread wide and the CDM drops into the middle. On attack they don't have a ton of responsibility other than to link up with attackers.

Stoke.

Contrary to a number of football fans, I really like Stoke. They hate Arsenal. They have Crouch. They sold us Garth Crooks. They hate Arsenal. They're called the Potters, which is a proper old school nickname like the Cobblers or the Hatters. They regularly concede huge numbers of goals against us. They hate Arsenal.

And their main forum, the Oatcake, is also pretty decent.

They have a thread devoted to their best chants in the Premiership. 'Let's all do the Wenger' is a firm favourite of theirs and mine, but a special mention too for their Suarez chant "He cheats. He dives. He hates the Jackson Five. Suarez. Suarez". :ROFLMAO:

They have a thread devoted to our financial results, comparing Levy's approach to that of Coates, which hit peak bitterness when someone pointed out "306 Million Revenue? FFS just over 5% of that is KEVIN FUCKING WIMMER...." :greedy:

And they have a match day thread for the game against us and, bless them, they've only gone and called it

Stoke City Vs Tottenham Hotspur Four

I wish them all the best in their last five fixtures.

That is Kyle Walker in a nutshell!

There has been a growing lamentation on here of his departure - absense makes the heart grow fonder, i guess - but it is worth reading those comments, as they are a reminder of how we were all basically:
'£50m? Fuck yeah! most replaceable player in the team...'

Glad to see Citeh fans are finally realising how limited Walker is. Yeah an incredible athlete but prone to massive brain farts and can't cross a ball without checking back, even then struggles to put in a great cross. £50m was great business by Levy.

When we’re giving Walker the guard of honour I’m sure City will be thinking what terrible business it was.

At the end of the day he’s played practically every game for them, is one of the first names of the teamshest and has, generally, played very well for them (minus a few bad games here and there)

At the time I thought we could’ve held out for more than £50 and seeing players like VVD going to Pool for £75m still makes me think we could’ve got more though not massively bothered obviously as he wanted out just a shame we couldn’t flog him abroad as he’s still been a very important layer for them.

Of course, though, city fans are as fickle as the rest of us and are happy to scapegoat him after a mistake. Let’s also not pretend there’s any players out there who don’t make mistakes as people on here going on about Walker will have you think he’s the only one and ignore the fact that Trippier makes far more on a regular basis and that’s not even touching on Aurier who was, according to some, a massive upgrade on Walker before he even put the chicken badge on.
