Tyler did sound rather confused and quiet as is sometimes his way these days. To be honest, he mostly just sounds like he's getting really old.

No, I stick to my view that commentators will always sell the comeback as it's a better story/narrative.

They were doing it when we were 3-0 up. If that had been City or Liverpool they would have wanked themselves into a coma fawning over their amazing attackers.

Tyler didn't sound old and tired to me. He sounded annoyed. He certainly didn't sound old or tired in the last ten minutes ("PLUS STOPPAGE TIME!!!!!!").

Nah I grew up in the east end in the sixties went to Upton park with my mates if we was away would have never gone to watch Chelsea or arsenal , spurs have always had a big fan base in the east end. Imo arsenal always the main rival and then Chelsea especially of the pitch . I hate arsenal but despise Chelsea but maybe it's because I grew up amongst West ham fans I have a kind of respect . Anyway that's my take on it ,someone else may see it different

'Ackney football support in the 60's was for Spurs or Arse. West Ham were just a smudge and Chelsea fans were non-existent, the Chelsea fans that appeared came along as glory hunters when the likes of Osgood and Hudson etc had a spell of success in the early 1970's as the Kings Road playboy nouveau riche.

The O's at Brisbane Rd was my footy viewing on Saturdays when Spurs were away.

The trouble is, the media like to stereotype clubs to fit their narrative, we're 'the underachieving legends with fickle fans' Man Ure are the God like PL club, West Ham are the plucky little east end battlers and so on, we are sticking a massive fuck off pin into their stereotype balloon and they don't like it!!!

All of these below are from Hammers subreddit:

Just got back. From what I could see Noble in the last half an hour was magnificent. What instigated the scrap? Gonna need some beers to calm down after that one jesus christ.

Tottenham were stopping our momentum with shitty little fouls all game (they had 20 to our 10), ref did poorly to take control of the game, and in the dying embers with us trying to push, they go and do it again. Shit blew up.

Fuck Serge Aurier, fuck Harry Kane, and especially fuck Dele Alli.

Fought tough, but looked really shit for a stretch and that's what did us in. Felt like the game was lost when Antonio went down, Carroll looked lost and didn't win much in the air even. I think he makes the rest of the team slide into hoofball and start playing worse. Zabaleta was class again, Noble had a few proper tackles, Masuaku was a positive, I actually think he might have made a good replacement for Antonio.

Good to have a dust up at the end as well, wish someone would have cracked that dickhead Alli over the skull though

Fuck that stupid blind **** of a ref. Lost control from the start, they should have been down to 9 easy. Let them get away with murder.

This match proves the strength and depth we have in our squad. Despite being handicapped by Bilic and having a tonne of injures, we still score twice and have three penalties denied. Just need a better manager and a bit of luck and we'll be able to kick on.

Also despise Spurs. Scum club with scum fans.

The nicest thing to do for big Andy is take him to the glue factory

Messy football but oh well. Carroll a big, big letdown today imo. I'm more pissed off with our injury and fitness issues. There's something actually up with our medical staff or training pitches. It's getting annoying playing these games without a full strength side. Spurs today were only missing Lamela, who hasn't even been seen for a whole year so does he even count ? We are always 3,4 main players out in games, it's taking the piss at this point. Antonio, Lanzini, Obiang..imagine we had those today. The club has to do something about this very quickly. When did we last play a game with a full strength side ? Also, we're not a Man City/Utd who have enough depth to cover these problems so we need those players or at best can only afford to have 1 or maybe two out.

I strongly disagree. There are at least 20 better strikers in the league than AC.

          Definites: 1. Aguero 2. Jesus 3. Morata 4. Batshuayi 5. Lukaku 6. Martial 7. Rashford 8. Firmino 9. Sturridge 10. Kane 11. Llorente 12. Lacazette 13. Giroud 14. Welbeck 15. Vardy 16. Hernández

          Debatables: 1. Okazaki 2. Slimani 3. Iheanacho 4. Andre Gray 5. Deeney 6. Benteke 7. Rondon 8. Gabbiadini 9. Diafra Sakho 10. Steve Mounié

That’s not including Alexis Sánchez (who played most of last season as a striker for Arsenal); Zlatan Ibrahimovic (it’s unclear whether he’ll be the same after his ACL injury); or Michail Antonio (not naturally a striker but does a better job of it up there for us than Carroll). You might disagree with some of those choices, but I think I could make a case for any of them. At the very least, I’d prefer to have any of those players in the squad as an option ahead of Carroll.

Sky seemed biased towards City in the season they pipped United to the title with the last gasp Aguero goal. They painted it to be a David v Goliath story...only David was armed to the teeth with the best weapons money could buy. Hardly Roy of the Rovers stuff.

But generally it's pretty clear Spurs are not popular with large chunks of the media. Tyler was pathetic on Saturday...

"Ten minutes to go, PLUS STOPPAGE TIME!!!!"

"Six minutes to go, PLUS STOPPAGE TIME!!!"

"Two minutes to go, PLUS STOPPAGE TIME! COME ON HAMMERS!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!"
That's kind of my point Spurger, Millions tuned in to that final day to catch the drama of a title chase that literally went to the last few seconds of the season. It was probably the single most exciting end to a season in Prem history, if not top flight English Football history. That season probably did more for SKY's Prem viewing figures than any other season before or since.

You'd think that they'd want more of the same on a regular basis, particularly as the season preceding the last they had the fairytale of no hopers Leicester taking the crown. The narrative they could have rolled out of Spurs, almost bankrupt, years in the wilderness, building organically, youngest team ever, going to the wire with the multi billionaire local rivals of Chelsea. It would have been a dream scenario to gain an even bigger interest internationally for the brand, bringing in even greater revenue.

But no, they celebrated us losing to WH, effectively ending the title race 3-4 games early.

I can't fathom how they feel that is beneficial to their business, especially as Chelsea were in the drivers seat anyway. Had the positions been switched, with us in pole and losing, I could understand it. Wouldn't like it but could understand it. There was no logic to their reaction simply from a business POV.

The only logical answer is that they do not want Spurs to win it. If the commentary team are Chelsea then fair enough, but where is their unbiased reporting if so?

I've been of the opinion that there has been an anti Spurs slant in SKY for years, the reaction from them last season just reinforced that view. The continued rhetoric about our players "needing" to be sold just solidifies it further, particularly when you never see it with any of the other top 6, you don't even really see it with the goons to the same extent as us, not with them stating that players like Sanchez, Ozil et al "needing" to move on for a chance at top honours.

I've been accused of tin hat conspiracy theorising, whereas I think it's those that refuse to see it who are suffering from Ostrich syndrome.

What the fuck was that from Sky? Disected Lukaku, Aguero, and Moratas goals from the weekend and then Kane gets a shitty little mention. Chancers

I used to live in Bethnal Green until the age of 15. When I was at Raines, I was one of about 2 or 3 Spurs fans that I can actually remember, maybe 4 or 5 West ham fans (might have been less) and the odd Chelsea fan but the large majority were Man Utd, Arsenal or Liverpool.

My old man went to Raines. Grammar school then.

Don't forget this was the game last year where Rachel Riley and her little crew of Sky pricks admitted they were jumping around the studio celebrating when West Ham scored, despite none of them being West Ham supporters.

Right, because West Ham are such a lovely club, and everyone wants those nice guys at Chelsea to win the league at a canter, yeah? It was literally offensive to me when she admitted that and came out with the "legends" line.

The media should be praying on their knees for Spurs to be successful and win stuff given we're the only team competing at the top who actually don't pay obscene amounts of transfer fees or wages, who aren't owned by foreign criminals, who bring through young English players and actually give them a chance, who conduct ourselves with respect and maturity, and who play some of the best football in the country. They should be all over praising us as the absolute example for English clubs to follow.

And yet we're mocked, ridiculed, Sky spend every minute trying to sell our players, and everyone in the media seems to want us to lose every week. It's pure jealously because we've done things the right way that no other club has achieved and we're right on the verge of becoming something really special. It scares people and these people are also morons.

Honestly, football sucks and can literally go fuck itself. I was done with listening to any of them a long time ago.

What a fucking post this is. Sums up my feelings to perfection.

The truth is the vast majority of the media support teams that we compete with, and have recently over taken like Liverpool, and more recently United and Arsenal - in terms of league finishes anyway.

It is jealously, and like you say its with considerably less means and yet we're doing it in such style, Pochettino isnt just a phenomenal coach, but he's the perfect ambassador for our Club, oozing humility and class.

I've been of this opinion for a good few years now, we just don't get the respect we deserve.

But fuck them, with the trajectory we're on it will be unavoidable in time.

God you guys are prissy. Like a bunch of teenage girls whinging that the cool boys weren't looking at you for 10 seconds and were paying attention to some other girl instead of you.

All tv stations have spent the past 3-5 years nigh on universally praising us, featuring us and generally wishing us to break the big boy monopoly. We are for sure one of the favoured teams in the country by most pundits (except Merson and Lawro).

What is it with football fans and the mad dash to be the most victimised and put upon? There's no prize that you know.

Or should we change the thread title to 'What the other boys are saying about us but not what they should be because we're prettier than them and why won't he say I'm pretty?'

Yes, turns out some times they feature the other team a little bit more. Its about the story for the media, if a team is 3-0 up and the other team gets back to 3-2, which do you think would be the more exciting next goal? (clue- its not 4-2).

Some times Spurs are not the most interesting thing to feature, Lukaku is a new signing, Man Utd are playing differently, kane is just doing what he has done for 3 seasons, its not 'the story' to feature him front and centre from time to time.

We're plenty praised, plenty featured, its all in your head.

Sky's main pundits are (and the Prem team they're best known for):-

Neville - Utd
Henry - Arsenal
Nicholas - Arsenal
Merson - Arsenal
Souness - Liverpool
Thompson - Liverpool
Redknapp - Liverpool
Carragher - Liverpool
Le Tiss - Southampton

BT

McManaman - Liverpool
Owen - Liverpool
Gerrard - Liverpool
Scholes - Utd
Ferdinand - Utd
Hargreaves - Utd
Wright - Arsenal
Keown - Arsenal
Hoddle - Spurs
Jenas - Spurs
H Redknapp - Spurs
Lampard - Chelsea

BBC

Wright - Arsenal
Keown - Arsenal
Jenas - Spurs
Crooks (ugh) - Spurs
Murphy - Liverpool
Shearer - Newcastle
Neville - Utd

ITV

Dixon - Arsenal
Wright - Arsenal
Hoddle - Spurs
Keane - Utd

I'm sure I've left some out but anyway....

Liverpool, Arsenal and Utd lead the way in pundits by miles. City and Chelsea have 1 between them because they're relatively new with their (bought) success but Lampard's in there now and no doubt Terry when he retires. There must be a City player but I can't think of one. I know various people are special guests like Vieira etc but they're not regulars. Jenas is purely there because he speaks well and sensible, nothing to do with how good a player he was like most of the others.

So that's why it's so biased towards the bigger clubs. Liverpool, Utd and Arsenal all have a large ex presence and the media in general love a spend spend spend story like Chelsea's and City's.

Could be worse. At least West Ham haven't got much in the way of presence, bar Cottee's stints every now and then. Though a lot of tabloid journos are hammers.

All that said, I do think they big us up a reasonable amount. We have been praised lots and they do a lot of good features on us. It's the in-game experience that probably riles us most with the pundits above regularly touting our players for moves. They rarely say it about their own club's players.

I must have imagined Rachel Riley calling us legends at the back end of last season or the constant need for pundits to say our players need to leave to win something or get paid what they should.

No, there was no fuss at all about it at all.

Boo hoo, a lady said a mean thing based on a reputation we've had for the last decade, at least Spurs fans reacted with measure and balance and didn't flood her social media feed with misogynistic abuse and vitriol because they're thin skinned toddlers.

Other clubs that people say players might leave to win things in the last two years.

-Liverpool
-Everton
-Arsenal
-Man Utd
-Every club in the country other than Chelsea or Man City
