I have to say, I don't understand that Mallorca joke. Is it just me, or is it a translation thing?

Young English drunkards have a habit of getting pissed up in Mallorca and falling off balconies. There’s usually a couple of stories every year of these idiots removing themselves from the gene pool.

More specifically, this caused a bit of a storm last couple of days:

I'd never dream of drinking on a work trip to Magaluf.

Or shagging another bird over the balcony.

Work Trip.

Same as the lazy assumption that Son plays better without Kane. Son's role is different without Kane but he's scored loads and had tons of good performances with Kane in the side. In the 6-2 against Everton they scored a brace each - clearly they don't work well together :cautious:.

Agree that game (bad defending aside) was fantastic but an all too rare occasion of Son, Dele, Eriksen and Kane playing together.

From RAWK...

I personally don't think they buy Lo Celso, Sessegnon and Ndombele without selling a few players.

I think that even if Spurs buy those players and don't sell (and we don't buy or sell anyone) then the squad sizes are similar. Quality wise I thin we easily have the best starting XI. In terms of squad depth I think GK, centre back and forward positions we are better by a fair bit. Full back they have better depth though we have much better starting options. Midfield is probably pretty even in term of starting quality and depth.

Their squad versus ours:

GK

Lloris Alisson
Gazziniaga Mignolet

Full backs

Davies Robertson
Aurier TAA
Rose Clyne
Sessegnon Larouci
Walker-Peters

Centre backs

Alderweireld VvD
Vertonghen Matip
Sanchez Gomez
Foyth Lovren

Midfield

Winks Fabinho
Ndombele Keita
Sissoko Milner
Wanyama Wijnaldum
Dier Henderson
Alli AOC
Eriksen Lallana
Lo Celso

Forwards

Kane Salah
Son Mane
Moura Firmino
Lamela Origi
Janssen Brewster
Nkoudou Wilson

I know they had a bloody good season, only losing 1 league game and winning the CL but the way they go on you'd think they have been dominating English and world football for the last decade.

Yeah this is what they do...most seasons they'd be predicting the title in the lead up to the opening weekend, so this year its gone into overdrive with pundits left, right and centre saying the title is theirs.
I'd give my right nut for them to have an absolute howler in the opening few weeks, to really burst their bubble.....but I cant see anything but a Liverpool win against Norwich, so they'll be top of the league for a few hours at least.

I'm bias but I think seeing them compare player to player I think our overall squad is better but they have 3/4 standouts in Alisson and VVD, Roberson and Trent but things like Kane/Son vs Mane/Salah comes down to form on the day tbh.

Surely they won’t have another season like last year with regards to injuries.

A couple of nice, long lay offs to VVD, Salah and Mane before Xmas would be lovely.

Unfortunately the bastards have got perhaps the best back 5 in world football. Allison and VVD are worth about 15 pts and their fullbacks got 25 assists last season which is truly insane.

If we get Lo Celso and keep Eriksen, I'd say we at least match them in midfield, and will surpass them if Ndombele proves to be a hit.

Up front I'd say their first choice 3 is more consistently lethal than ours, but we have far better strength in depth.

Overall their first 11 is better than ours but I think an injury crisis would hit them harder. Their fullbacks are miles ahead of ours and that's the obvious area we need to strengthen to catch them up.
