I can soak this salt in all season as long as we keep delivering results to piss off our opponents.

Also, the talk of us being a two man band is getting tiresome, Leicester were hailed as incredible for doing the same with Vardy and Mahrez, during their title winning season.

I remember these two barely missing any games and if they had I don't think the fairytale becomes reality.

It's such a boring insult to throw our way anyway, it's not like we haven't smashed anyone 6-1 or played a second half of a NLD like it's a warm up for the mid week fixtures, we've been lucky according to the other fans. I enjoy a good insult or jibe but this is just getting boring now.

Two man band yet our best player so far this season is probably Hojbjerg. This is a team who all work for each other, who would have thought we would rely on our two attackers to get us goals...huh.

I thought Hugo should have chipped in with at least 5 goals by now, ridiculous he hasn't to be honest.

The difference is Son gets an easy ride, Jesus is twice the footballer he is- just watch them both play football , don't be manipulated. Jesus is a genuine talent , Son, whilst half decent , is a bit of a head down huff and puff type , and a opportunistic diver to boot.

Son half decent? Jesus twice the player? My god, I want some of what you’re drinking. Son is a fantastic player so is Jesus. Though if you offered me either I’d take son and in all honesty I think most people would.

what do you mean he is twice eh footballer? in what sense?....
Jesus is not twice he finisher Son is....
He is a work ethic that not one other forward has Ill grant you that and he is better in the air than Son as well.
however Son's shooting is far superior to jesus as is his ability to run at players with the ball and commit the defender.
Jesus' link up play is fantastic and probably better than Son's but Son's is pretty good as well.
d have Son at city any day...

People are too harsh on Arteta, Mourinho made us looking complete mugs just a fortnight ago with much superior team than this Arsenal side

sorry but I would have son above Jesus any day of the week but that’s my opinion .
Would you take either of them over Aguero?

no

Not a younger Aguero but the Aguero of today ?
Probably

Redknapp, " It's a gift he's got getting players to buy into this." Erm no it's being called a manager you plum, the players do as he says.
To buy into dire conter attacking football , bet they hate it

Spurs - two shots, two goals.
I'm so depressed

spurs are so fucking boring and hit you on the break ? jose is so defence minded i would hate being a spurs fan

Can’t bring myself to type their fkin name, but if anyone finishes above them they win the league. You win it by taking your chances

They have better forwards than us though. Kane and Son are fucking deadly. Genuine world class and walk into pretty much any team, probably except Bayern as Lewandowski is better than Kane, imo. Those two can win them the league if they stay fit. That’s a big if with Kane though.

That's why I'm depressed mate!

Not even close. Son is having a great season so far no Arguments. But over many seasons sterling has outperformed him.
sterling is having a dip. Son is having a run of form.

Sterling obviously better than their forwards on his day. But Would swap Jesus for any of them. Especially Kane. Just my opinion

Awful football from spurs but it is a winning tactic. Anti football at its best. The goals are quite good to watch but the rest is crap.

I mean - i enjoy the absolute world class moments of individual talent showcased over and over by Kane and Sonny.

And to a large extent I enjoy aspects of the dogged attitude, work ethic and discipline showcased by players like Hojbjerg required in this negative style of football.

Objectively defensive football isn’t awful football - it is a well executed plan. Subjectively - it can be ‘awful’ viewing regarding entertainment and enjoyment.

Do I ‘enjoy’ watching the performances - not overly - not every game. We certainly criticise teams like Burnley etc for trying to play like this against us in the past - fortunately we have the best striker (player) in world football which means we are much much more effective.

I did enjoy the result against the Gooners though.

I think a season or two of this sort of football is certainly bearable if we win something. But that is a must. I certainly think we have the players in our squad that should be able to dominate matches and blow teams away with creativity though.

It’s strange - I both dislike and appreciate what we are doing.

Is that any difference from before tho

Appreciated playing high pressing possession based football.

Disliked us never winning anything doing it and always being fragile at the back

I've got to be honest the first couple of years with Poch we were quite proactive and forward thinking but the last 3 seasons vertonghen and alderweireld just passed to each other for 70 minutes of every game and that was far more boring than the counterattacking football we play now.

They are just "fans" who watch Sky sports and listen to Talkshite and take everything they say as gospel, rather than actually watching games and making their own minds up. Its lazy journalism and the lazy armchair "fans" it appeals to.
Same people who think Jamie Redknapp knows what he's talking about and wanted Tim Sherwood to take over!

I have no problem with how Tottenham play football but people are talking like this style is already guaranteed us a trophy. It might very well end up with us winning a title but we're still only a few months into the season.

We are as good as the Pochettino team were and that side just fell short. We are now a different style of team but it remains to be seen whether we will get over the line with this style. We might fall just short under Mourinho too like we did under Poch, we were unlucky to not win some sort of trophy with MP and maybe that will happen with Mourinho.

Tottenham winning the league would be unbearable.

Liverpool set new records of 'unbearable' last season, surely?
I actually find their doing it more unpalatable than Mourinho doing it with Spurs.
At least, with him at the helm, I can remind them with a smile that they all hated him and moaned about him like spoilt kids, until, of course, he set them fair for a first title in 59 years.

Jamie redknapp and sky in general talk utter twaddle, arteta has been awful, they're 15th are splashing out on partey and William

Another version of Allardyce with a set of fans who are trophy obsessed despite winning one League cup in 20+ years and were talking about winning the Europa League after beating LASK at home? Not even close...

Spurs know what they are doing
They are pragmatic and functional under Mourinho, and once they have the lead they sit on it
However, i think they are able to mix it up when required and play more attacking football - they just don;t have to at the moment!
Mourinho is a boring footbal manager, but you cannot argue that he is able to build a solid side. they have a very strong back four, despite not having particularly good individuals - i.e Dier is considered a laughing stock by many, Aurier is shocking defensively etc
Thankfully i don't think they will win as Man City look very strong at the moment, but they will come very close
I expect they will win the Europa League though

Boring boring Tottenham Hotspur.

Teams need to stop showing Son inside, keep defences deeper so they can’t play the long ball run on they keep doing, and if they get a couple of injuries as normal, they’ll suddenly not be top any more.

Allardyce does it - he’s a dull dinosaur etc.
Mourinho does it - tactical genius, winner

To be fair Mourinho does have the trophies to back himself up, but he’s also had money and talent that the likes of Allardyce never had. Otherwise, it’s the same thing. Starting to think Allardyce and his Allardici comment is actually a fair one

Unfortunately, if anyone still thinks this Tottenham side aren’t genuine title contenders they’re in denial

Shut up! Shut up!! Shut up!!!

If anything happens to Kane or Son their whole game plan and tactics goes out of the window and they will drop points

Arsenal have been the better side by far...

Tottenham are putting 10 behind the ball , Leno the Arsenal keeper just passed it on the half way line.
Maureens football is ***** to watch but effective i suppose

Tottenham winning the league would be unbearable

Spurs are such a boring side to watch ....parking the bus ...I’d rather watch us play the way we played yesterday and lose than watch this style of football week in week out

Spurs are not winning the league. No chance. A lot of those players on the pitch now are bang average and Mourinho will make sure they self-implode, don’t you worry

Spurs fan holding up a banner with 1 League first, 1 double first . When was that? Arsenal won a cup earlier this year. Embarrassing

How much did Arsenal pay for Partey ? he is ****ing useless
He single handedly opened Tottenham up a minute ago. He’s also injured

Had a discussion with my mates on whatsapp yesterday. Gooners, red scouse (-spits-), 1 Chels$kum and London based manure fans.

One of my gooner mates said:

'It's sad to see spurs go from the team they were to the team they are now.
Unfortunately, that's what Jose does to you.
Yeah, you're winning and there's a good chance you will win the title, but it can't be pleasant watching that every week.
Even Neville alluded to the fact that he is surprised the players enjoy it as it is so boring.
Plus you have turned into a bit of a scummy team; hoijberg, lo celco, sissoko etc just constantly kicking and niggling at people.
It's a shame, but it works unfrotunately'

There's bitterness there and he's exaggurating as he often does but I... personally.... do agree with the non-exaggurated message behind it. I know not all of you will but that's fine. Differing opinions and all that.

Scouse friend then said:

'If I was a spurs fan id take joseball for a couple years of success. Can always evolve onwards from there'.

to which I said, yep, it's the best we can hope for at this point for those who aren't fans of joseball.

As somebody else said somewhere on SC, Bumenal have won FA cups and are still the butt of jokes. I showed the gf our CL run to the final and the style of play difference and flair was so noticeable. My heart always aches seeing the scenes after Lucas' third goal. Even though I went to Madrid, I could never watch those highlights back. Liverpool for me are by far my most hated club and have been for about 20 years (I'm 33). It's just too much.

I'm no Jose fan and I can see a lot of people on this thread either totally OK with however we play so long as we win, and others who want to win with a flourish and clean, and everything in between.

As I said to my friends:

'This is why not winning the cl was so bad imo. Would have really done the world of football so much good to see a non money team win the biggest trophy by playing clean and stylish football - for it to be my own team would have been unbelievable'.

Essentially, as I then said to my friends, if after Joseball, we later go back playing with flair and excitement echoing Poch or otherwise BUT with slight adaptation such that we really push on to become tough winners, that is the dream for those of us who want to see a team, OUR team win and with flourish.

I know I don't speak for everyone on this forum so please don't think I'm pushing this as fact or the right way to see things on to anyone. Each to their own.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last 3 league games as we look so comfortable defending and I've never really seen that consistently bar one or two good spells under Poch.

Nobody said it was boring a month or so ago when we were banging in 4,5,6 goals per game and if Mourinho wants to be pragmatic against the other top teams I'm fine with that as we're getting results.
