Meanwhile on Redcafe:
Rooney getting paid 300k/w to spread it to the wings
Guys, look on the bright side. The earliest di Maria can force through a transfer is in January.
Taking Di Maria might be genius, could make Burnley think they can relax a bit.

Straws firmly clutched...
Even de Gea is horrible.
Valencia is the best winger in the league, when it comes to smashing it into fullbacks' shins.
Maybe LVG doesnt care about this game and is just waiting for the injured to be back
When you say like that, you have to agree maybe he is drawing on purpose because of the injuries
7th place would be an achievement
OMG! Will someone please just shoot! Ridiculous. We keep giving it to Valencia and he keeps kicking the ball off the defenders. We're never going to score like this.
I honestly would rather see Fellaini on the wing than Valencia.
Clean sheet! Get in!!!
That's a valuable point in our title run.
7 points off the top already...Thank God for the international break. Woody get your finger out you twat!
RVP 24million
Rooney 28million
Mata 37million
DiMaria 60million
4 players 149million
0 goals, 3 shots, against Burnley
Now Im off to make a phone call to my dad(united fan):D

Record and post it
Hes not bothered, he surprisingly calm about it but he did say that 7 of the players that played against Arsenal in the 8-2 match, played today, when I asked about the odds of LVG walking. That team included:
Welbeck
Young --- Rooney --- Nani
Anderson -- Cleverly
Evra -- Evans --- Smalling -- Jones
De Gea

Todays team:
RVP Rooney

Young -- Di Maria -- Mata -- Valencia
Fletcher

Blackett -- Evans -- Jones

De Gea
Anderson and Welbeck, came off the bench. Now they added RVP, Mata and Di Maria to that team and look worse even with a top manager there. I mentioned in the LVG thread that culture of united is completely different to LVG which is similar to our academy.

This team has been playing 4411/442 for ages and 352 needs ball playing CB's and a DM (as the sweeper CB like Capoue) something which united don't have

Selling Capoue for £86M in January?

I really hate that we lost to these wank stains.

"They are a contender, but they are not better than us. Certainly not to be feared or worry about it."

"Think Spurs have deceptively good players. I don't rate their strikers but everywhere else I think they are deceptively strong.
- Lloris is quality
- Kaboul/Vertonghen are as strong as any CB pairing IMO (Kaboul past fitness issues a concerns though)-
- Davies and Dier are solid though unexceptional
- Capoue, Bentaleb and Dembele are a very strong midfield group.
- Ericksen is quality
- Lamela I rate but not Chadli
- Adebayo will drop his head and lose form at some point. He also does. And also they have AFCON this season don't they. Don't rate the rest of the squad though."

"same old shitey spurs. only difference this year is their fans didn't boo them off, just left the ground instead
Europa places at best for this shower of shite"

"Almost felt sorry for Lamela. Only fella for them that looked like doing anything.Welcome to the Premier League, Dier."

"As expected, Lamela up against half decent opposition and hes poor yet again. "

"Anyway, on Spurs in general I think they look a decent side. We were very good but they'll be fine under Pochettino. You could already see the kind of side he wants them to be today, they're just not quite on the same page yet. Fancy them to finish ahead of United in 5th, maybe give us and Arsenal a bit of a scare for top 4 when all is said and done."

"Think Spurs will do a lot better this season though ,their pressing of the ball was impressive but they still need a top class CF I think ,unless Soldado has a new lease of life under Pocchetino."

"The Dier tackle on Balotelli was a red card even if he got the ball. Reckless." most of them think it was great challenge.

"Spurs looked a bit short of creativity, movement and pace in the final third today, Eriksen was barely in the game and when you're relying on Townsend to make the difference it's not great. Looks like they need to grab a speedy goal threat who can play wide."

"Lamela was bloody awful. He did fuck all and was acting like a little child. And as for Spurs, crawl back into your hole now, there's a good little club"

"There is a lot of wasted money on players with little technique and pace plus a poor attitude."

in reference to eriksen "He wouldn't get close to the starting XI in my opinion. There's nobody I'd take from Spurs, perhaps Lloris and he isn't as good as his reputation suggests."

"Extremely satisfying to put these lot in their place. They are in a whole different weight division to us. Give them a 10 point headstart from today, and we still would finish above them."

"They're shit to be honest. Lamela and Chadli are not very good unless they're playing QPR, Adebayor is waning, Capoue and Bentaleb are an awful pairing, Eriksen is decent, Kaboul is horrific, Rose is even more horrific. I like Verthongen and Lloris though."

"Spurs confirm the signing of Benjamin Stambouli, a big defensive midfielder from Montpellier...They probably did this after seeing Emre Can bulldozing through their midfield and knocking Dembele out of his way with ease!"

Liverpool fans; re-writing the definition of the word 'smug'.

I wonder what their reaction was when Brenton lost his first game 3-0 to West Brom.

Fucking hell I hate those wankers. "Crawl back into your hole, there's a good little club" Jesus wept the arrogance in that statement is off the chart. Would love it if they finished outside the top 4 this year even if it does me the arse are the ones to benefit.

I frequent this thread a fair bit when we are riding high, though very rarely do so when we have played a shocker against any of the big four/five (obvious reasons). On the occasion that I do, it normally leaves me feeling like my internals are being wrenched from inside out, though today that feeling is not as strong as it is normally and the reason is that I have come to terms with our situation. last season it was despair, with no foreseeable light at the end of the tunnel, but I see in Poch, an opportunity to get it right and give us the chance to see us playing with a style that suits us. I have a feeling of realistic positiveness, I understand that we more than likely will not be challenging for the top 4 this season, but there is hope that the future may well be a lot brighter. So whatever our opponents might be saying about us right now, I care little for, my focus is on what we do. Carpe diem Poch, Carpe diem!

OK the internationals are over so we can stop pretending to like and support players that we want to fail every other day of the year and hopefully get back to winning ways away at Sunderland

http://www.sunderlandmad.com/t9671-the-lesmac-match-day-thread-sunderland-v-spurs?highlight=spurs

Spurs defence did not like Liverpool players running at them and the fact that we are at home suggests to me that we should go for it. I agree that we only need to play one centre forward and Wickham would just get the nod from me. Catts will hold and defence is good. Then 4 attack minded midfielders in a 4141 formation and from those mentioned it would be Rodwell and the in form Larsson in the middle and Buckley and Giacho on the wings .... unlucky Johnson and Gomez, late intro for Alvarez

Well, Spurs have lost their captain (Dawson) to Hull.

Hopefully they will remain error-prone at the back..

I think Larsson had an off day against QPR as the smaller pitched stifled his passing, if he can just sharpen up his first touch passing I would have Giacherinni feeding off him to do the running at the Spurs defence. Could benefit from either Buckley or Johnson starting then change them over at half time.

Both teams have yet to settle but we need more sustained firing up for this one not just play for the first twenty minutes then run out of variations.

Then I realised the thread only had 2 pages..........

So...just looking at 'Ready to Go'. I must say I preferred the Republica version but heres what they say in a thread called "Is Spurs a must win?"

for me, there's only 3 results possible in football.

win, lose or draw. none of this 'battling draw', 'plucky defeat', 'fortunate win'

if we don't beat spurs at home we can kiss the top 4 goodbye for another season. therefore MUST WIN

If we have to use the word "must" in regards of results at this stage of the season. I'd put the Spurs game as a must not lose but the Burnley game as a must win. We really do need to be targetting the teams that are going to be floating around the bottom as 6 pointers already. Those games are the ones that so nearly cost us last season.

We will win at some point this season....I don't think Saturday will be it though.

1-1

It's too early to have "must wins", but there's a lot going on psychologically if we can't win a game soon. Draw/lose, there's loads of pressure to get the first win against Burnley. Beat Tottenham & we'll all go into Burnley thinking we'll easily turn them over.

If we lose we are fucked. For the next three seasons as well.

Our recent home record against Spurs doesn't inspire confidence and then you've got the fact they tore us a new arsehole only a few month ago.

Away win.

It's a game we should win if we're ever going to reach the portals of the notorious "next" level.

draw at best

I think we have a 50 50 chance of winning..........

But there's only a 10% chance of that.

I reckon they'll spank our freckled bum til it gans pop. The much maligned Andros (what kind of fucking name is that anywheearg, btw?) "Cut inside, shoot" Townsend will exercise his sole trick and pull it off. Bastard fucking Sunderland.

Better side than us so it's a must lose imo

On the assumption that alvarez will be given the weekoff ( jetlag etc ) after beingvwith argentina , then we are left with the team that disappointed v QPR .
A defeat is almost a certainty v much superior oposition.

I actually quite like Sunderland as a team and know a few fans and they're all a good bunch so I feel sorry for them but hope we stuff them :)

Haha This comment is brilliant.

And their general pessimism and feeling cynically hard done by makes me feel some affiliation with them from a Spurs fan perspective. Poor guys.
