For those who are still moaning about the 1 striker thing, there is actually a positive way to read this.

Last season Poch was clearly given at least one player he didn't really want after missing out on a real target. This season we weren't able to get the player we wanted in Berahino, and we stuck. We're not left with a player to shift at the end of this season because the manager doesn't actually really like him, and he's probably in a better position to get the player he wants in January or next summer.

A player in on loan would have been better than nothing. All we are doing at the moment is driving Harry Kane into the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if we are hampering him by playing him in every game.

For our long term benefit this season I'd be happy to tell him to pack his bags and go on holiday and come back for the Villa game on 2 November. Have some time off and relax and come back focus for that game.

He's a young fit athlete. I'm sure he has very good diet, rest and training programs to follow. He hasn't looked any more tired or worn down than any of the rest of the team, perhaps he is't shining as brightly as last season, but he has been getting into good positions, working hard and helping others to score. Wish people would stop suggesting that we mollycoddle him. He will be ok.

I think we've actually created some good to very good chances, and if Kane had scored two or three more goals this season then this thread wouldn't be here.

Son has scored, Lamela has scored, I'd like to see Eriksen go on a little goal scoring trail, we are scoring from corners (!), if Kane can get scoring again I think we will be okay, and if in the longer term Poch can show a bit of flexibility and maybe play two strikers up top (when we have them) then I think we will have a lot of boxes ticked going forward.

IMO, we need to be creating more chances, but we arent as starved in that area as we've been in previous years so its not as pressing an issue. The more pressing issue is finishing. Which is also a normal issue with us. We arent clinical enough in front of goal. We werent last year either but it was masked because of Kane. This year, it's being exploited big time since Kane cant score for anything now and is clearly knackered, we dont have any cover at all in his position, and our new LWF/pseudo back up striker, has been out since the City match.

There was some stat that after 6 game we'd created the most chances with Man.City.

It would be interesting to re-visit those stats now. I'd guess we're still right up there but City and Arsenal may be ahead of us. If we were more clincal + the AM 3 offered a bit more of a consistent goal threat and we had a back-up to Kane or Son hadn't got injured I think we would be sitting in 4th right now.

How many times did Ferguson not picks player but tell them to have a break and come back prepared in a couple of weeks time to play against X team?

You hear it all the time.

That's the approach I think we should take. Either that or get the other attackers to do his running and tell him just to get in the box. Sure do some closing down but just be the focal point of the attack. That and us actually get some players up in and around him. He's always so isolated.

I have said this before and I will say it again. We lack intelligent movement in the final third. Too many times I see the man on the ball with only 1 option to pass too (if he's lucky) and the rest of the players ahead of the ball are too static for my liking. Also the 3 behind Kane need to start pulling their weight in goal scoring terms as we can't just leave it to Kane all the time.
