Who gives a shit, you only need to listen to the guy to know he has no interest in leaving the club.
We've got him for this season. next season and the season after that. If, by then, we aren't winning things, its very likely he'll be off. He dropped that very heavy hint in an interview not that long ago, I think it was during the Sky piece called when Thierry met Harry.

I heard an interview with him yesterday talking about hunting down Greaves's goal record and he made several references to 'years down the line'. I would say 3 more years is the absolute minimum we'll have him.

Utter bollocks because although it's subjective many people will consider him world class and what's more the timing of that statement is poor seeing as he just banged in two goals in Europe's prime comp against top opposition.

Chapman then challenged him and he said this:

Except we've challenged for the league 2 seasons running and improved year on year and will continue to improve as a team under Pochettino.

Then he started waffling on about challening for the Ballon D'or

Thanks for confirming what I literally said in my post.

So many people mention this "if we aren't winning trophies" thing. What about when we start winning trophies, we are more than capable of winning plenty in the next 3 years and I expect us too. After all we have one of the very best strikers in world football and a team of class players, great manager and a great squad.
If you we swapped personnel with City, UTD or Chelsea no one would mention the not winning stuff about them, they'd assume they would be winning trophies regularly.

To be fair the article just says how good he is, Neville said what he did last night before the game (and also said he hopes Kane doesn't leave Spurs), and all of the highest rated comments are praising Kane and saying he should stay at Spurs.

Not got a problem with any of it really. It's nice to have a homegrown player who is loyal that's being talked about in terms of the best players in the world.

And the article lead me to a great Five live documentary on Kane - worth listening to....

Apart from the fact that contradicts what you said he stated, no worries.

I'm assuming you didn't listen to the whole broadcast. If you had, you'd know that immediately after that clip finishes, Neville goes on to say how Kane is already world class and that everyone in football knows it.

He's saying that in order to be winning the Ballon and be regarded in the same bracket at Messi, Ronaldo et al, he would need to leave Spurs.

And he's absolutely right - the football world doesn't regard us in the same bracket as Barca or Real and never will until we win several titles and the CL. And the stigma of not playing for one of the tiny number of elite clubs sticks in football.

He's not saying Kane has to leave Spurs. He's not saying he's not world class. He's saying he won't be seen in the ultra elite bracket until he either leaves Spurs or the club start winning major titles.

He's right.

As I said, many thanks for confirming exactly what I'd already said.

That's because they've all done so recently - we haven't won anything for a decade and no FA Cup for a quarter of a century.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure we will win stuff with this team and manager. But until we actually prove we can do it there will always be doubts.

I don't know if any of you watched the "When Henry met Kane" programme on Sky a little while back. I remember Kane saying how he loves the club, how the team are improving etc etc. But he also said he wants to win trophies and if we haven't started doing that over the next 3 seasons, he would be very disappointed. Reading between the lines, win trophies, or after 3 years he rethinks things. Or am I reading too much into it?

edit; screw you A&C!!!

I don't know why pundits are always trying to get the best players to leave England to go to Spain. I thought we want to see them playing in this country.
I know, really fucks me off!!! Then they bang on about 'selling club' . Fat illiterate pricks!!! FWIW Please someone tell Charlie Nicholas he looks a proper **** with that earring

Even Roy Keane is being complimentary about us for a change.

'This kid is the real deal' - Roy Keane predicts Harry Kane is ready to join the game's elite list
Kevin PalmerSeptember 14 2017 1:06 PM

Kane has scored 29 goals in 2017, which is the same total compiled by Ronaldo in a year when he is on course to claim the crown as the world’s best player once again.

Now former Manchester United captain Keane has claimed the England forward is on course to be a contender for the annual Ballon d’Or prize that crowns the game’s best player in the near future.

When asked on ITV Sport whether Kane should already be in the world class bracket, he offered up this response: “I think he is and if he keeps improving the way he is doing, he will be up there with the Ronaldo’s in another years.

“Kane is outstanding. His overall play, hold-up play and his movement, this kid is the real deal.

“He needs to be in the latters stages of the Champions League for that to happen, but the rate he is going at, baring injury, he will be up there with the best.”

Keane - who was a Tottenham fan in his youth - has often been highly critical of the north London club in his role as a TV pundit, but he was impressed by their display in their 3-1 Champions League win against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night as they picked up a first win of the season at their temporary Wembley home.

“I thought they were excellent,” he added of Mauricio Pochettino’s side. “There was a lot of pressure hanging over Tottenham with this Wembley hoodoo hanging over them, but they created chances and played well.”

The other way to read that is that he expects to have won things at Spurs within the next 3 years. Full Stop.

You can drop the "with that earring". Then I think you'll find that a lot of people have been saying that for years. Including Graham Roberts.

I think Neville's comment is actually fair. If we remain at our current level (top 4 team, no trophies) Kane will never win an individual award like the Balloon d'Or. It's up to us to match his ambitions and start racking up some trophies. If we do that he'll have no need to follow Bale and Modric off to Spain.
I think the issue is they never talk about other team's players like this.

I listened to him and he keeps saying things like "if Tottenham stagnate", "if the manager leaves", "if they never win anything", "blah blah blah" it's all negative. We have yet to even give anyone the idea of stagnating. We're constantly developing tactically, as a team, and as individuals. Our arrow has been pointing up more than any other team in this division. So why even mention it?

Imagine if he talked about United players like this, City players like this (who also won fuxk all last year). I mean fuck me look at Liverpool, it's been a long time since they've won something and we've completely overtaken them in the league and they genuinely do look like stagnating. Their offense is great and the defense is poor and they basically look exactly like the team from last year. Yet not a pip about Mane needing to leave, heck most were upset with Coutinho thinking he needed to leave and thought he was showing a lack of loyalty FFS. Where's all the bits about them needing to win something or their players and manager will leave?

Exactly, instead when United have poor players (the majority of the time since Fergie left) they harp on about how the players are not good enough for "a team like United" and when the team are doing badly, finishing 6th or 7th like they normally do, we are told "United should be in the Champions League, United should be competing for the title"

It's the same with Liverpool, over the last 10 years they normally finish 5th or 6th and yet we are constantly told that certain players are not "Liverpool players".

from a media perspective, teams have certain identities that are completely distinct from the players they have, the manager they have, the style and quality of football they play or their level of achievement. We have gone on to a new level, but the perception is still a club that should be finishing 5th or 6th and that any great player we do have should go to Man Utd, a team that finished below us in three of the last four seasons.

The thing is City have won a fuck load more than us in the last 10 years. UTD won the Europa last year, despite how crap they were. For me personally competing for the league and getting close two years in a row is better than finished 5-8th and winning the league cup. We need to be in the champions league to grow financially and build a team that will win trophies. If we keep Poch the trophies will eventually come I've got no doubt.

There's no doubt Tottenham are a club moving quickly in the right direction especially over the last two league positions , however until we win competitions the questions will always be asked of our ever improving players and manager to move on unfortunately.

Lets be honest it would be unfair for us not to win competitions with Poch and the squad we have...I personally feel we could win the league and should really go for it.
