What Went Wrong For Érik Lamela At Spurs?

I imagine that Lamela is probably the most pissed-off player at Spurs at the moment. He is a footballer. He is injured and can't play. He has a hip problem, they are notoriously difficult to fix. It could be a structural (ball and socket) type problem or maybe a ligament. Those structures have a poor blood supply and can take many months to fix. The hip joint is under a lot of stress, did you know that when you run approximately eight times your body weight goes through each hip. And when you think about how footballers pass the ball, with their insteps so that the hip is pretty much maximally externally rotated, it is no wonder they get injured.
Even though we are all fans all we are really entitled to know is that he can't play because he is injured. His injury is none of our business, it is between him and his doctor/physio and, to a lesser extent, the Club.

What are you talking about? Poch took us all out, we had a good catch up with Coco and he showed us his scans and paperwork over a few beers. We all know what's going on.... oh shit... I just realised, I wasn't supposed to say anything to you. Fuck. Sorry.

This thread is fucking garbage.

He's carrying an injury. He's having surgery on it.

There's no fucking alternate agenda or other bullshit going on.

As fans we have basically zero right to his personal medical information.

He's an asset. The club aren't about to release a fully detailed report on what's up with him.

How are some complete morons not getting this?

HE IS/WAS INJURED.

It's not a particularly difficult concept to grasp. The club have been as transparent as they need to be without sharing sensitive information.

FUCKING. HELL.

This is completely moronic.

I remember a similar scenario a couple of years ago with Danny Rose. He had a seemingly minor injury but ended up missing 1/2 a season with little detail coming out of the club.

If I remember correctly we even had a where is Danny Rose? Thread on this site.

Point is he is still here. Just because the club doesn't give dailly updates of a players medical condition doesn't mean aomething fishy is happening.

I just realised the actual title of the thread is a question assuming Eric has left.
Simply changing "went" with "has gone" would have made more sense.
And the answer is simple anyway.
Injuries!

"It's hard to imagine him putting in a defensive shift"

It's hard to imagine you've ever actually watched him fucking play.

Poch on Lamela...

“That is another thing that for me was so strange to hear – when, in the media, Lamela is linked with different clubs,” said the manager. It’s so difficult for me to understand.

It’s a player who has not played since October, and with all that he is suffering in the last four or five months, do you think that he is thinking to move, that he is thinking to go to Italy? He is very happy here.

He is very focused on moving to Barcelona for [the operation on] Saturday. I don’t believe it will be tough. He is a person who likes to work hard and he’s very professional.

If he starts to feel good and fixes the problem - the pain he feels in his hip - I think it will become quick to recover and be on the pitch again training with us.

Now I think it’s a very difficult situation, a very tough moment for him. He needs our love, our support, and to be sure that all is going well. I hope all goes well on Saturday, and then he starts to think about recovery as soon as possible.

Might genuinely upset a few people here though.:sneaky:

This is the age of the conspiracy theory - we live in a world in which Trump can outright lie to people's faces, have those lies shown up in public, and just shout FAKE NEWS and millions - tens of millions of people - will believe him and completely and utterly discount the facts they've just been presented with.

It's a disease born of the internet and the new rise in disbelieving every single piece of information that comes from any person or organisation in authority.

It's the same mental disease that's led to the rise in anti-vaxxers, Trump voters and those absolutely mental fuckwits who built the Creation Museum and Noah's fucking Ark in America.

This is the Age of the Idiot, and against a power so moronic, there can be no victory.

In all fairness the Pulitzer prize winner in like 1968 ( around then) was a book called 'the rise of anti-intellectualism in America'. It's not a new phenomenon.

Um.. hip injuries are notoriously difficult to treat and can take a very long time to get right. Maybe he does actually, you know, have a hip injury?

It is only a little muscle though - he is not having a hip replacement.
Key hole surgery - stitch any tear - back in time for the transfer window. :)

The thing that upsets me is that he's having surgery now- in almost April- when the problem manifested itself months ago. Why did it take this long?!? It's been half a year(!) since he last played-- did he/they really need to wait until now to get this thing underway?!? I get it that sometimes you have to give some time to an injury to see if it heals without surgery-- but this amount of days/weeks/months seems excessive.

I love Lamela- he's my favorite player on Spurs- so this is particularly hard on me. I miss him: his energy, his skill level, his fight...but most of all I miss how angry he makes the opposing team. You can literally feel the hate of the other team (and their fans) every time his face comes on the screen. They feel about him the way we feel about, say, Jack Wilshire when he was with Ars*nal: i.e., pure, unbridled revulsion. Lamela has this effeminate, pretty look to him- yet he plays like Satan's spawn. I adore him for making everyone who's against us seethe with rage every minute he's on the pitch. Btw- this opposition-antipathy that I'm going on about isn't a guess; every time I ask a fan of another team which Spurs player they hate the most, Lamela's name tops the list every time. Him and Danny Rose are our top "under-your-skin"-ers.
