Christ this is a happy thread!!

'Where did it all go wrong?'

When was it ever right???
See you have started me off now! The Grinch

What do we have to smile about now? Is there that bounce in your step when your on the High Road approaching WHL? When taking your seat at WHL are you expecting that victory, we used to get, or hoping for a victory?

The only thing that makes me smile at the moment is the blind optimism that Fazz has in us signing Arshavin. We all know, and I know he know's deep down inside, that we aint gonna get him but he still believes! Hats off to you Fazz. Oh and the pic in my Avavtar makes me smile too

Haha ooops! Sorry Japanese! Either way they dont do it for me!

Dont be sad. Things will get better...........one day.

Thats the way us Spurs fans think right?!?!

Its not that bad at the mo either! It has been worse in recent years. Remember a CM pair of David Howells and Jason Dozzell??

I most certainly do, the difference was the expectation was not there. We were skint then. Also our squad at that time was not the 5th to 6th best squad in the PL at that time.

Selling Carrick was the first sign that Levy didn't really have a clue how you get into the top 4

so we went from a manager that brought in pav gds gilberto sanchez and bentley and got 2 points from 8 games to a manager that's got 18pts from 11 and now has his chance at transfers

it's very easy to pick biased scenarios

as for jol - we've been thru all that but if anyone wants to start it again

we had a manager that bought rasiak & bent didnt replace robbo threw away 3-1 and 2-0 leads in massive cup games never won a thing with spurs & left us in desperate straits

again it's easy to pick biased scenarios

for me last season was better than the previous 2 because we won a trophy in style

this season is not good ATM but still can turn out better than any of jols if we stay up and win another cup

and yes i did like martin jol and think he did a good job and didnt deserve all the abuse he got on here when we lost to CFC & AFC and failed to win anything and his substitutions were caned etc etc

the resons we don't get to break the top 4 or make it a big 5 are various

the main one by a long long way is we haven't spent (net spend & wages) the mega mega money that is needed

next is the negativity that sours the lane game after game season after season

that makes it so difficult for players like jj bent rasiak, whom the crowd turn on way too quickly, way too easily

as a fanbase do we even deserve to be part of the big 4/5 ?

Thinking about it, this was probably the start of the problems. Carrick was out in the cold until BMJ took over then played every second of every game when Jol was in charge.

When Levy sold him I wouldn't think BMJ would have been too impressed, especially when they gave him Zoko pops in return.

COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE.........obviously this had nothing to do with our wonderful chairman though!!

maybe this thread was inspired by the fact that we are approaching a new year, and a certain amount of reflection is inevitible, but I don't think it serves any purpose but to focus the minds of fans on the past.

What we need to do is stay focused on now, where we are and what we are doing now. Not, where we were or where we think we should be, or where we want to be.

it all started to go down hill the moment the board decided that Jol wasn't capable of taking us to where we thought we should be. The same goes for the fans. The inability to see where we were is what caused it all. But, as I say, lets not get dragged into all that

As I said at the time

Levy: Be careful what you wish for, 2 back to back 5th place finishes is a fantastic base to build on

Levy/Board got too greedy too early and f*cked it...........and they stumbled on BMJ, they appointed the disaster Santini

It's all hyperthectical, there is no way of knowing for sure wheter or not things would have gone any differntly had Jol not been undermined and then sacked.

For all we know things could still have gone tits up what with the want away strikers and signings brought in...who knows we may also have never won the CC.

The fact is we have spent money poorly in terms of building a team, other teams around us have improved and it is no longer so easy to be the best of the rest.

Also we have sold the 3 players that helped make us the best of the rest (Keane, BErbatov, Carrick)

Ok if Jol had never been sacked we could well have had a more settled team, atleast we would have had some continuity, but this is not something we can know (things may still have gone the same way or worse)

Bottom line is the past is the past and the milk is spilt, best to focus on what we can do to improve our situation now rather then moan about what has gone wrong.

Maybe there be your answer as to where it all went wrong.

Do we REALLY have the 5th to 6th best squad in the prem? Proof is in the pudding (or league table) as they say. Expectation is MAYBE to high
