I wouldn't get to carried away as other than Chelsea we have played teams that we would expect to beat if we are to be serious challengers for top 4 and to be fair we haven't looked to great yet. The test on our chances will be over the next few weeks when we meet top 4 challengers like City, Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Even Brighton who are looking good at the moment. I predicted 4th before the season started and I stand by that but I think it will be a lot harder than expected. But to say it's a two horse race with us and City is a little over the top don't you think or just wishful thinking.
The fact we haven’t even clicked into top gear and still taken 14 points from 6 games means we can win not even playing our best. We have had some challenges, West Ham and arguably our hardest game of the season Chelsea where we got a point is showing a mentality switch. We have options from the bench that we can bring on which doesn’t weaken the 11 at all. In fact I think it’s 12 games since we last lost in the PL. Our depth is stronger than most of the other top teams apart from the city, so that’s why I think it will be a 2 horse race, but will see. We are certainly not the old Tottenham of the last few seasons and have real steel. Massive test against city, but can see us nicking a point if we stick to our game plan and hit them on the counter.

I think it will be a 2 horse race between us and city, but they are too strong. A lot of people here laughing at me when I say we are the second best team, but I just don’t see Liverpool the same team without Mane. It would be like us losing Kane. We would drop down a level significantly. It’s not a player that is easily replaceable. I always feared Mane more when than Salah when we played Liverpool. Chelsea might get their shit together, but as of now they are blowing hot and cold.
I must admit, I thought Liverpool would suffer with his loss but not to this extent.

Their other issue is they seem to be easier to play through and their midfield has lost energy.

Combine all those factors together and when you consider our firepower, there is certainly a case there that we can finish above them.

I guess I've been a bit more in favour of us by replacing Forest with Burnley and Fulham with Watford.

Bournemouth compared to Norwich as they are the whipping boys (IMO)

I've gone more for stature and style of the team rather than where they finished but I guess you're probably more accurate.
I always set it up so 1=18, 2=19 and 3=20. TBH, I can’t think of another consistent and logical way to do it.

It probably is, yeah.

I'd just add that in recent years the team who wins the Championship has tended to be the whipping boys of the league and the play off winners have done better.

That's my logic behind it anyway.

I don't think we will win the title.

However, I do believe that our weaknesses will be very clear for the summer window and we'll be able to address them relatively easily so we can go better next season.

Interested to know why people are speaking about downgrading their prediction, especially after a weekend where we saw Richarlison's quality coming to the fore and we played very well, even if it was 3 points we should expect to get.

If anything we would have expected Liverpool to be a solid 2nd, but they look wobbly, Chelsea have already been tonked unexpectedly, Goons got beaten by the first decent team they faced and Utd were that team despite looking ropey.

I think we'll be likely to look pedestrian again if we lose Romero for another length of time and revert to Davies/Dier/Sanchez at the back, but we're also hard to beat with those three, so...

Went fourth, and think 5th is more likely than 3rd. Gonna be a brilliant achievement if we make top 4 again
I think this is a little conservative. I'd say:

City - big favourites

Then any order of the following (possibly in order) between 2nd and 6th would not surprise me:
- Liverpool, poor start, but good pedigree
- Us, average start,...and yet picking up points, and a deep squad
- Arsenal, very dangerous when they click, but pressure can expose their weaknesses and their squad lacks depth
- Chelsea, a very heavily invested squad, but stuttering at the moment
- Man Utd, incredibly well invested squad, but somewhat in transition

I would say above 4th is more likely than below, but I concede it's very hard to call at this point.

What I would say, and people will accuse me of lacking ambition, is that I would bite your hand off for 4th. Consolidating CL has to be our first priority. It keeps the cash coming in, and stops others from getting it.

Ideally it would be accompanied with some good cup runs, and ideally a trophy, but that'd be the icing on the cake.

I think if we strengthen more in January we could finish as high as second. Gonna be very tight though. I think us, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are going to be very close together with City clear favourites. Anywhere from 2nd to 5th is anyone’s guess at this point

If you want to know how futile making firm predictions at this stage is, then only look at Man U - 2 games in they were a shambles who’d just about make 10th spot. Now theyre riding high having won 4 on the bounce including liverpool aNLD the goonscum.

Lots of unexpected twits and turns to come me thinks

I said from the start 4th and I still think we will. Yes we have added to the squad and we have more depth but we still haven't signed that killer player that can turn a season. Not yet anyway. Liverpool, Nunez, City Haaland, Arsenal Jesus have. So I stand by 4th but it will be tough just like last season and again I think it will be us or Arsenal. Those tipping 1st are probably the same ones who tip us to win every game 4-0 just wish full thinking as we are still a long way off City, probably 12 to 15 points and possibly 10 points off Liverpool. A lot closer than last season but in my opinion we still don't have a starting eleven good enough to challenge for the title or CL. There are teams out there that we will struggle to get points off like Brighton and Leeds.
Are you saying Nunez and Jesus are better than Kane and Son and they are not Killer players

If I had to guess where I think we will finish the season, I would say Elland Road, with an outside chance of ending in Istanbul.

I voted 3rd. Seeing how other teams play, I think we're looking like strong contenders for 2nd now, but won't change my vote yet. We'll be up there with City for a while, I think, but I just can't see us beating them.

Ha...I went 2nd and sticking firmly with that.

We're starting to get going now. The passing and tempo was much better against Fulham, and they're no mugs. Should of had 4 or 5.

So we've managed to grind out an impressive points haul given the slightly sluggish start.

But the really encouraging thing is that we look a strong team with a hard spine.

The new signings are integrating really well and we've got the depth to cope barring a nightmare injury situation.

And of course its all about the Conte factor. We're into this season off the back of a pre season this time and we'll reap the benefits.

His experience and winning menatilty will see us finish runners up :;

Yeah don't get calling Jesus a 'killer' at all. He's in form but he's always been a below average finisher for City and is already scoring fewer goals than he should've for Arsenal given the chances he's had this season.

We have the definition of 2 proven killer players in Kane and Son who have both won the golden boot.

Jesus has been playing some of the best football he's ever played since arriving in the Prem and yet he's still 2 goals behind Kane who's still barely getting going.

Anyway, I stand by original prediction of 3rd. Seems about right to me. Anything above that would be incredible and anything below 4th a big disappointment.

No I'm not saying that and I didn't say that. Yes they are killer players but we already had them and haven't won anything yet. What we needed was a player that can make them even better which is what City with Haaland, Liverpool with Nunez and yes Arsenal with Jesus have done. They have found that one player that can make them even stronger.
