I don't get this Arsenal fear at all. They are a very good team, they've bought well and improved a lot from last season. But there are still 4 teams better than them, which includes us, and on recent evidence perhaps Man U too. We are a top 4 team, where we'll finish in there is anyone's guess though - it's going to be tight.

No I'm not saying that and I didn't say that. Yes they are killer players but we already had them and haven't won anything yet. What we needed was a player that can make them even better which is what City with Haaland, Liverpool with Nunez and yes Arsenal with Jesus have done. They have found that one player that can make them even stronger.

I personally think that they and Manu are now a threat based on their respective acquisitions. Top 4 is not guaranteed, we have to be on our "A" game from the beginning to the end of the season. You under rate Arsenal to your own peril

Personally I think arteta will do to arsenal what poch did for us. He has removed the over aged egos, brought in young hungry players and got them playing well. Ultimately - I think he will also fall at the final hurdle though, owing to naivety in both him and the fact his methods rely on young players buying in to his methods. You need experience to make that final push over the line and as good as arsenal are progressing - they don’t have that. The same way we didn’t over 2/3 very good years under poch.
that all being said - I do think they will be there or there abouts again and we will have to continue to improve to keep up (which conte keeps alluding to)

Voted 5th with United taking 4th (stopped getting funny ratings lately), still think it will be one of those two positions unless we do another amazing January transfer window and get 2 great players.

Trying not to sound like an Arsenal fan speaking of us here, but even their first XI isn't that great imo. They have potential, admittedly, but most of those players would struggle to get into any of the top sides. I'd take Saka at RWB and Ødegaard if we played a different system. Saliba too if we played a back four.

I personally think Arteta is doing well at getting the best out of their squad when things are going well. But he's also spoiling them by always pointing fingers at someone else when things don't go well, and that's rubbing off on their captain too. I don't think they'll ever be a great team as long as they have that mentality.

Agree about City and Haaland, question marks over Nunez watched him play three times this season and he's no where near Haaland, and the real Killer player they had in Mane has not been replaced, And Jesus was never the killer player at City, Auba was much better he's a step up for them over Nkettiah but that's about it

Poch never finished lower than 5th with us - Arteta's best ever finish - and by the start of season 4 had already taken us to 3rd and then 2nd. 'Tets' also has two 8th placed finishes in the bank at the same point in time. He's also spent a fuck ton, probably more than any manager has ever spent while not qualifying for the CL. Not really a great comparison imo.

Personally still think we'll get 3rd, but I don't really know who I would tip for 2nd to be honest.

I think the fact Arteta has been there quite some time now a good what 3 seasons of building and shaping the squad and tactics to his preferred style means a lot. It is like when Poch took us over and we were in a mess and bit by bit he got the fans connected with a young hungry squad and built a lot of positivity which can go a long way, they've also strengthened pretty well with Jesus, Zinchenko, Vieria etc.

That having said, they've had the easiest first 8 fixtures on paper pretty much possible and they're an injury to Jesus or one of their CB's away from being a lot lighter on quality.

The world cup could help or hinder them depending on injuries.

I think lets not underestimate them but on paper yes I'd say City Liverpool us and Chelsea have stronger squads and managers and Man.U are building momentum too and have an amazing squad so will be very tough, hopefully they fall away once EL starts assuming they play strong teams in that and don't write it off.

The bit that makes some of us fearful is that it is Arsenal and obviously they're the last team we want to see doing well ever.

Hopefully once the games come thick and fast and they have to play harder fixtures their positive momentum bubble will burst and their young squad will bottle it again like last season at the first sign of any troubles.

Can someone please explain to me what a killer player is?

I'm thinking Marcos Alonso

Haaland is a freak, though. A once in a lifetime player whose goals per game at such a young age is unique and pretty much unbeatable. So I think Nuñez can do a very good job for Liverpool without being anywhere near Haaland.

Different levels of competition within the league now vs then but yea of course what Poch achieved for us compared to what Arteta has so far achieved with them its obvious to say Poch did a much better job.

I think the comparison is coming from the style of play 4-2-3-1 high pressing posession football and also the fact that Arteta in the same way as Poch did is connecting the fans and club so there is a positive vibe and momentum all pulling together which can account for a lot in terms of performance.

Hes taken them up another level maybe two. We're not challenging them. Nunez Im sure will be good by virtue of the number of chance Liverpool create, But so far to me personally he's not really been that impressive

Agree on this I don't think Arsenal team is that great, Though I really do like Marinelli, but but to finish below us from where they were says it all. Fluffed it like Rogers twice at Leicester

I think they a very good starting 11-13 players, but you have to question there mental toughness, and manager.

Let’s hope Europe catches up on them

I hope United do shit, right now I can’t stand them.

Everyone saying that City will walk it yet from what ive seen of them i think they are extremely vulnerable at the back. They could easily have lost against Newcastle, Palace had a goal to make it 3 nil harshly chalked off and on a different day Villa walk away with all 3 points. Liverpool like us will probably be sat there quite content in the knowledge that they have in no way found their groove yet and are only 5 points off which at this stage is nothing.

If we play to our strengths on Saturday then i can see another win on the cards and then lets see what that does to our mentality for the rest of the season.

For me i still think it will be

1. Liverpool
2. City
3. Spurs
4. Chelsea

Difference between City and Liverpool though, both look vulnerable at the back but City have no issues upfront. With KDB and Haaland they will not have an issue scoring this season. Whereas Liverpool besides Bournemouth look very ordinary up top....maybe Nunez will come good soon but I'm not convinced by that front 3 yet.

I still think we can get 3rd but it's going to be very tough battle again. Chelsea getting away with 6 points in games where they should have dropped points is frustrating (down to 10 men against Leicester and VAR saving them against West Ham).

I think you’re taking my post a little bit too literal. I’m not suggesting it is like for like, but I feel there are similarities - but you’re entitled to your opinion!

Richarlison says hi while doing keepie uppies.
I'll reserve judgement on him till much later in the season when he's had a few full games. I've never been a real fan but who knows he might turn out to be just what we needed.
