carrick because we have not had someone of that quality in midfield since well ginola?

berbatov because for me he is the best striker in the world without a doubt he has everything.

keane because of his presence in the dressing room but without berba or mido he was nothing.

Carrick by a mile.

Not only was he majestic in creating goals, but he was also excellent in protecting our back four. We need 2 players now to do the job that Carrick did, and they still don't do it as well.

Berbatov was an awesome player and we ended up playing through him constantly, but Carrick offered so much more.

Carrick, Berba, Keane, Defoe

Agree with EddieBailey - just shows there's no point in dithering and having just one or two really top notch players. Need a cohort of them together at one time to do anything. But at what point do we show ambition and when do we say "Let's not do a Leeds?"...that's meant to be Levy and Co's job.

Imagine...

Gomes; Hutton; Woodgate; King; Bale; Lennon; Carrick; Modric; Dos Santos; Keane; Berba. What would that team have achieved...?!

Oh what might have been…

I'd sooner:

Gomes

Corluka Woodgate King Assou-Ekotto

Lennon Carrick Modric Malbranque

Berbatov Keane

Now, imagine we'd kept that side, then replaced Malbranque with Arshavin this window.

I think I've just spunked and cried at the same time.

1. Carrick - We never came close to replacing him and I can't help but thinking his sale set us back to square one after all the good progress under Jol. So underrated in this country it's unbelievable!

2. Berbatov - I know a lot of people hate the bloke now but I'd have him back in a second. There's probably no player on the planet with a better first touch and at his best he's practically unplayable. A striker is more easily replaced than Carrick imo, so comes a close second.

3. Keane - For years he was our talisman. Not as good a player as the two above, but still hugely talented and a great foil for any number 9.

Carrick. Total class act. In the right place at the right time, all the time. Everythi8ng went through him - shame the lasagna did too!
Then Berba. Even more of a class act. Magnificent player.
dont really miss the others much TBH.

I was asking myself this over the weekend and found it a tricky one to answer so I am going to ask you guys.

Over the last few years we have seen some of our best players leave the club, and was wondering which one has had the biggest adverse impact on us.

the players im talking about are Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Dimitar Berbatov, Micheal Carrick.

In my opinion all of these player sales had a very damaging impact on our performances on the pitch and arguably none of them have been replaced, but if i had to name one of them id say Robbie Keane.

We really lack that bit of creativity around the box this season and even if he was having an off game he still ran his socks off trying to make things happen and still creating chances.

in order id say

1. Robbie keane
2. Micheal Carrick
3. Dimitar berbatov
4. Jermain Defoe

Why on earth is Keane no. 1?

We miss Carrick the most, then Berbatov.

Have to diagree with you on that one. Berbatov certainly didn't do it the Tottenham way. The Tottenham way is to respect the club.

Really? Like how Klinsmann left us on his buy out clause after one season? Or how Gazza left us? Or like 95% of the legends that played for Spurs left us?

So Colin Calderwood does it the Tottenham way because he stayed with us? Fair enough mate.

Berbs is skill, grace and flair. And we sold him to make a profit.

It's his OP-IN-I-ON

And I for one feel proud that I was privilaged to witness the kind of skill I am unlikely to see again at the lane for as long as I live. A real one off super talent! However he left!
