As unlikely as he is I voted for Klopp.

AVB would be a good appointment though. Does anyone remember the post with his scouting notes from when he worked under Jose at Chelsea?

Yeah, but it's gonna be hard for him to fool the security now (y)

Why is no one really interested in Fabio Capello?

He is as about as successful as a manager can be in terms of Club Management. I know we were poor at the last world cup but with the players available, I wasnt really surprised. Everywhere he goes, he wins the league (litteraly, every club!), he can handle the big egos, he can pull in the big players we want to sign.

And he is free and available after the England job.

Im bemused by the clamouring for AVB. Good, granted, but a one or two season wonder in Portugal surely?

Fab Cap is the way forward in my books. And ITK keep saying that its ALLEGEDLY a manager that is under the radar at the moment and he isnt being linked to us.

All makes sense to me. And Id be happy as a pig in poo if we got him!!

We need a long term solution - Capello is 66 years old and has said himself he only wants to manage a club for two years.

AVB > Blanc

or

Blanc > AVB

in the hearts and mind of the Spurscommunity posters right now? (seeing as these two seem to be the most strongly linked)

I'm not sure why but I find myself wanting Blanc ahead of AVB

Frank Rijkaard, Blends an Italian Defence with a Totaalvoetbal Outfield philosophy, Gained points from 79% of games managed, Knowledge of academy set ups with Ajax and Barcelona, good draw for players, respect on the training field, does not have player favourites.. Respect for his achievements as a player and a manager......... He's a winner...

I just posted this in the other thread but it's probably more relevant in here:

Blanc doesn't scare me like the thought of AVB scares me a little. But the thought of Blanc also doesn't quite excite me like the thought of AVB does. Start of the week I was leaning towards preferring Blanc. But I'm leaning more towards AVB right now. The way he tried to play at Chelsea is the way I would like us to play. High tempo, pressing, possession football.

AVB would be the braver appointment, and maybe it's just the gambler in me, but I am currently leaning more towards taking that punt. To Dare is To Do and all that.

He's managerial career is interesting

His first job was with his national team (although he had been an assistant under Hiddink I believe) and quit in disappointment for achieving the same level of success in a tournament that Venables was hailed a hero for achieving.

He then got the Barca job after being fired for relegating Sparta Rotterdam (surprising he get such a high profile job after being sacked from such a low profile one)

Did well at Barca but things ultimately went tits up, then went to turkey and stayed less than two years before taking one of them highly paid random national teams job you expect managers who are no longer wanted or looking for one last pay day to take as the Saudi national team coach.

I don't expect him to be on our short list personally.

Saw it in t'other thread...probably should have left it in t'other thread, TBH...it's BS

Only joking, I kinda agree with you. AVB would clearly be a risk...but if it came off, we could really be flying. One factor you have omitted, however: if the reports are true, hiring Blanc would feck Beetroot Head orf no end - I say, let's do it! ;)

I don't expect him on the short list either, The Rotterdam job was plagued with financial problems and most of the players knew they would be released at the end of the season, Rijkaard himself offered to cut his wages by 50% so they could rebuild but they couldn't even afford that..
The Turkey job he actually did very well with a 60.34% win rate at Galatasaray but his sacking was to make way for board/fan favourite and former manager Gheorghe Hagi, Hagi lasted 5 months and was sacked with a win ratio of 30.3%..
