Impressed so far
Ribery
Modric (not just saying it because his a Spurs player)
Kankjcar
Villa
Senna
Kuyt

Disappointments so far 1)442 is dead. It looks like the end for two out&out strikers in world football.

Luka Toni
Gomez
Gomis (France)
Benzema (not really had a chance to be fair)

he's looked the player of the tournament so far. Makes the dutch tick, so comfortable on the ball and knows where the goal is.

what is it about Ribery. Everyone talks about what a top player he is, but i can't see what makes him so special, Again today v the dutch he looked very ordinary, and robben showed him what wing play was all about !!!

Did you watch the game?
To be honest he was the only Frenchman who carried the fight to the Dutch,I thought he worked his balls off and played really well!

Er, he's absolutely top-drawer? He played his nuts off last night. How the fuck you can say he looked ordinary I have no idea. It wasn't his fault that the Frogs looked second-rate. He, Sagnol and Toulalan were their stand-outs.

He's also been Bayern's main man this season.

As for players who've caught my eye, Rat has been pretty impressive, and Lobont pulled off a couple of fantastic saves tonight.

ss57 i hear what you and stemark are saying about yesterdays perormance by ribery(i was only dipping in and out of the game due to kids) but for a £20m winger i do not see Ribery beat a man, or whip in dangerous crosses. he works hard, runs around in midfield but every time i see the french i keep a look out for him to see what the hype is about.
He looks a good player, passes well etc but i don't see anything that makes him special.
The bits i saw, ribery din't go at his man, or get behind his full-back, yet when Robben came on yesterday he scared the defenders and looked very dangerous.

Ribery looked dangerous yesterday, set up Henry's goal & forced 2 or 3 great saves from VDS. What more can you ask when the rest of your team is playing like a shower?

wasn't it sagnols cross that set henry up?
If you're talking about great players i expect him to drag the team up, or to produce a little brilliance that gets you back in a game. Demand the ball and attack your defender. Lead by example. He played a safe game in a cr@p team whereby he was not williing/ good enough to get a hold of the game.
There's no disputing that Ribery is a good player, but not the top player that everyone makes out. Well not in my eyes at least. Not yet anyway.

Villa, Silva and Senna, none of which are realistic targets.

Senna said he would probably be leaving Villareal last summer, if he recieves an "interesting" offer. We should have made him one, but went for youth (KPB) instead.

I'm not sure he's stood out particuarly, but seeing as he's a 1st choice Spanish international and plays CB for a club with big financial problems, I'm surpirsed we haven't been linked with Marchena.

The 2 Russian wide players were nothing short of superb Zhirkov and Zyrianov

Senna was fantastic in the first game and only good in the second, but still so solid and knows his role so well.

I don't really get the fuss over Ribery either I have to be honest. He is like a glorified Malbranque, but never gets his head up. If the French team wasn't so poor this time around he wouldn't stand out at all but he is playing with a load of old guys way past there best, new talents who aren't quite there yet and some average players. Yes he has some ability, but I don't see him being at all top drawer.

my team(without the obvious)
Boruc

Rat - Matjisen(??) - Uljfasji - Pranjic

Behrami - Senna - Ivanscizh - Arda

Nihat - Villa

A lot of spellingerrors.... A mix of players i hardley heard of and players I didn't realise was that good(david villa is just in cause i could't think of any strikers who's impressed me at all). Of these I could see us signing boruc(possible), behrami(possible), pranjic(possible), ulfajesi(not sure) and senna(not possible:( )

Agree with many of Erik's choices. Especailly Pranjic and Arda down the left who have both been very good. Wasn't that impressed with Behrami though.

Thought coupet had a good game last night even though they lost...two outstanding saves to deny italy a bigger score!
