Let's hope your prediction here is more accurate than the one about Harry going down

That would be the ultimate appointment.

I think we have a chance with Mourinho...crest of a wave and all that, might just be the right timing.

I seriously think we have a chance with Mourinho.

Spurs is exactly the sort of project he can jump in on and do what Fergie did up at Utd.

If i was Mourinho, with the limited options he'll have this summer, i'd seriously be considering Spurs.

As daft as it sounds, I feel as if we need a 'big name' manager rather than necessarily the 'right' manager.

Brendan Rodgers might be a wise choice in terms of keeping us playing great football, as well as being someone who could be with the club over a long period of time, however I don't think we've ever had a better opportunity of securing a well known and highly regarded manager.

Bringing in someone Like Hiddink or Mourinho would ensure that the club were sending out the right signals to the players and fans - namely that of us being a club looking to push on and secure our place among the big boys. If someone like Rodgers (or even Moyes, O'Neill and to an extent Klinsmann) were to come in, I can easily see players like Bale and VDV being massively underwhelmed.

Yeah if we were to bring in Rodgers who looks to be a great up and coming manager, I can see Bale and Modric pushing for moves away this summer, which would be a nightmare.

Agreed, i think it needs to a big name manager. I think we need to go all out to get Mourinho - he is proven at all levels needed and is gettable IMO this summer.

To be fair anything less than Mourinho this summer if Harry goes and i think it can be classed as a bit of a failure.

Plus frankly which players outside of England have ever heard of Brendan Rogers and frankly he has no credentials at managing a top 3-4 club who has aspirations of being title and CL challengers next season.

Limited options?

Chelsea, City of they don't win the premiership, Liverpool, Arsenal if Wenger goes to Real might all be looking for a new manager in the summer and all can blow us out of the water £ wise

True. Hadn't even thought about his clout in Europe.

It's a bit of a nightmare situation really. If Levy can't get a big name manager in - one that gets the fans excited - he's running the high risk of someone getting the job that the fans are already pissed off with.

Imagine if someone like Hughes or Moyes were to get the job. There would be a lot of fans calling for them to be sacked before a ball was even kicked. If we then lost a couple of good players in the summer, and/or started next season badly, the number of angry fans would multiply rapidly.

Levy needs to play this one perfectly otherwise there is a realistic possibility of everything falling apart, and people calling for the manager and the chairman to step down.

If Jose comes at all it will be a last minute thing as he will hold out for better offers elsewhere and only then if those offers are not forthcoming woukd he consider us.

City could give him unlimited budget and a salary he could only dream of
Arsenal can pay the wages of the top players he would want
Chelsea could well sack AVB
Liverpool have almost unlimited funds

Each of those jobs would be more attractive to Jose so we will just be a fall back option should none of them materialise

Well he has said he wants to come back to England next. I'd be really shocked if Wenger went anywhere, he won't go back to Chelsea just to deal with Abramovich again, Liverpool are not going to get rid of Kenny are they? and how could City sack Mancini if he wins the league?

They may leave only us, or at worst us and Arsenal. I may be biased but I think we are the much better project if you want to write your name into the History books, which Jose does.

Would they? At least 2 of those teams won't be in the CL. Man City is different but if Mancini wins the prem they won't sack him, it was well documented at the time of his appointment that his is friends with Mansour. And if Jose really does want the Man U job one day going to City isn't going to help is it.

I think thats unfair on on the board and Daniel Levy. To be classed as failing the club if they fail to bring in the "Best Manager in Club Football". Harsh to be honest.

We are an excting proposition don't get me wrong, and he may look at us, but there will always be options for Jose Mourinho, always. I don't see it as a failure if we don't get him.

Presuming that Jose does indeed leave Madrid this summer (I'm still doubtful on that) then I think we'd have a decent shot at bringing him in. Wouldn't make us favourites though. I think he's more likely to end up back at Chelsea. I just think that Roman surely has to see sense at some point on this. Hopefully he won't though, and that could leave the path clear for us.

Arsenal might well be looking for a new coach too, but I suspect that they will want to preserve continuity (possibly Rodgers with Wenger DoF for them?). Not sure that they could offer Jose more than we could at this point anyway. Mancini should be safe at City so long as they win the league, and Dalglish and OWF aren't going anywhere for now. It's going to be between the London clubs for Mourinho.

Kenny is cracking up IMHO, with his drinking (allegedly) and his irrational statements to the press recently I can see him having a meltdown and walking away from Liverpool end of the season

There is still a good chance City won't win the league, Fergie has been in this situation a dozen times this is a first in UK for Mancini, I feel Utd will win the title in which case surely Mancini will be sacked

Jose still has a massive soft spot for Chelsea and the fans

With us I see 2 reasons Jose will not come -

1) player wages - Jose will want top top players, will Levy pay the wages when we have a 35,000 stadium? No chance

2) Signing players - it is clear from the last couple of windows that incoming revenue is being diverted to the stadium project as opposed to the squad, will Jose be prepared to work under such strong financial constraints? Doubt it

I know we won't have him back and I don't think we should but I just heard Glenn Hoddle say he would take the Spurs job is offered as he is Tottenham through and through. I just wanted to post it as it always makes me smile knowing Goddle loves the club as much as he does.

If Harry goes then it leaves us on a sticky wicket.
I don't think there is anyone currently working in the UK who we could get that is good enough to be our manager.

I actually think that the game has caught up with glenns ideas

he could do a very good job anywhere in my opinion

The only reason I wouldn't have him back is that I believe after Redknapp we need to bring in a manager with a huge reputation in order to sure up not only our place in the league but also to reassure both our current players and players that we are trying to sign.

Actually, I'll add I hate the 3-5-2 system too.

His man management and people skills are notoriously bad though, we would play some great football but half the squad would be unhappy

Like a few other posters I would like Hiddink. I think he would suit us more than Jose.
