Just a thread to know peoples thoughts on what players (First Team/Professionals only) they think would stay with the club if we actually got relegated......?

Cesar Sanchez?
Gunter?
Dawson?
King?
Assou-Ekotto?
Gilberto?
Boateng?
Huddlestone?
Taarabt?
Pekhart?

Personally I cant think of many more who would actually stay.......

Your answers on a postcard...!

none of them. if there not good enough to keep us in the PL then there not good enough to get us back there. the championship is a lot harder than the PL

I'd stay.
I have never seen my team out of the PL and would be gutted to see us go down, but I will never give up on my team and will support them no matter.

It could be a blessing, rid of all the overpaid mercenarries and get some real passion back into our side, however for me a very hard price to pay.

BAE, gunter & pekhart would be the ones who stand out who would probably stay. the others? well that depends on them. the likes of dawson, zokora and a few others might not have a choice because other clubs probably wouldnt pay their wages so they might not be able to leave.

Bent, Dawson, Huddlestone, King (lets face it, who would take him) Gunter, Ohara, Peckhert, Jenas if he is up for a fight.

Those would be the players I would want, mainly British and they will all have a bit of fight.

GDS, Modric, Pav, they would get murdered in the championship.

I'd be happy if King retired as a result of us going down. I have a sneaking suspicion he might be a bit of the cause of our slump. If we just said to him look, until you can play 10 games consecutively, you're not playing, get our backline settled and comfortable playing together, maybe we'll stop shipping goals?

I'd imagion we would have to buy a couple of them too good for the CHampionship not good enough for the premiership players.

Maybe Darren Bent would light the league up down there

I did think this aswell, all the pre madonna's on high wages will bugger off, thus giving the youth academy and reserves a chance to blood through into the first team, oh we might also manage to keep hold of Rocha, he'd be decent in the 2nd tier of englih football.

I actually don't think our defence is the problem at all... well just a bit of it

One thing we have on our side is cash. Although we would lose a deal of revenue and not be able to spend as before, we wouldn't necessarily be forced to sell to balance the books.

Alnwick, Stalteri, Dawson, Gunter, Rocha, Ekotto, O'Hara, Huddlestone, Taarabt, Pekhart, i'd expect them to all stay, the rest would F off after they'd sent us down and go play for premiership clubs or abroad.

Still, thats nearly a starting 11 there so it's not all bad, a few more youngsters coming in from the academy and we'd have a team.

So we'd be left with:

Gunter, Ekotto, King, Dawson, Bentley, Jenas, Zokora, O'Hara ad Bent - which should be enough to bounce us back into the prem.

Why oh why we are thinking about this now though i have no idea. Eek

There's no way Jenas would stay, he's and England international, he'd have to be playing premiership football.

Not many would stay.

King, Dawson, Gunter, TA-H, O'Hara, Rose, Campbell and Pekhart, that's about it. A lot of the reserves would too.

If we went down why would the likes of Modric and Pav and Bent want to hang around when they want to be playing in the Premiership, fighting for Europe and hoping to break into or stay in the international teams? They'd be off in a flash.

Having said that, we wouldn't be forced to sell players due to our financial situation.
