We need to improve the team in more than one area this summer.

I can't believe people aren't mentioning Akinfeev, he's one of the best around. Besides him there's also Steklenburg and Adler who would be improvements.

We can get any one of those three imo.

Yeah he had a mixed bag tonight, some good saves but a few glaring mistakes.

Actually on balance he had a bad night overall.

He's young, has been keeping Joerg Butt out of the team who was technically their 1st choice keeper and is thought to be challenging to be in line for the Germany jersey if he keeps it going.

I think we should stick with Gomes but move Cudicini down to number 3 and get a young keeper like Wayne Hennessey from Wolves in,to push Gomes for the number 1 shirt and keep him focused.
If he fucks up,he gets dropped the same way as any of our outfield players would.

Lets have a reality check here with Gomes...he is a top class goal keeper, he does make the odd mistake (a few to many this season yes) but to replace him with whats currently available is a step down IMO.

As mentioned above Neuer against united conceded 6 goals tbh didn't look that great at old trafford.

Thing is some gks do carrying making mistakes while others cut them out as they mature. If Gomes can cut out the mistakes there is no-one better.

He is hardly a spring chicken now though and has had a few years in the Premier league yet has so far been unable to cut these mistakes out of his game
