To answer the question ❓ why are we so hated.

It's because of our Jewish community connection...it's as simple as that.

We've also had the cringey stuff recently such as awarding ourselves as the best footballing team and that we've been robbed of the title because of that, and even worse that 'well we'd be champions over the last two seasons'. It's exactly the same stuff we used to laugh at those down the road for doing....
I'm not sure if other teams fans hate us for this, but personally this is something I find embarrassing. The mental gymnastics that some people employ in insisting we have been better than Chelsea this season, and - worse! - better than Leicester last season when we finished 3rd [behind Arsenal, who no one wants to admit were better in the league than us last season, as horrible and painful as that admission is to make] baffles me.

Don't get why some people can't just enjoy the best Spurs team many of us have ever seen without having to puff up our chests even further and make it seem like we've achieved more than we have. Where we are right now is utterly fantastic, but we're not top of the tree yet and we shouldn't start twisting reality to claim that moral victories are actual victories.

Didn't our fans used to sing the Dirty Northern Bastards song which didn't endear us to Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle fans?

Newcastle must hate for taking their best players like Waddle, Gazza & Ginola.

I think a lot of it is our fan base. Don't get me wrong, I think 95% of football fans talk a load of shit, and that goes for whatever team they support.

The trouble with a lot of Spurs fans is this sense of entitlement they seem to preach. It's no wonder other fans think we're a bunch of ****s if the only Spurs fans they speak to are the ones who won't settle for anything less than a win every game.

The trouble is, a section of people shouting out a load of waffle will always be heard louder than those talking sense. I think this along with the fact we haven't won anything helps put the nail in our coffin.

Pisses me off though. I can think of plenty other teams along with there fan base that are far more annoying than ours.

Except for the usual suspects Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham, I think envy is a big factor. Not that West Ham aren't envious, but they have a geographical reason as well. The Leicester "fairytale" gave everyone hope that one day even the shittiest of clubs could end up as champions, and everyone understood that it was just a one off. So no one, except for us, were jealous of Leicester. The same applies to the lottery winners Chelsea and Man City. Sure, people envy them, but their success is so hollow, it just doesn't go that deep.

We, on the other hand, have built our success slowly. In the hierarchial football world of today, what we have achieved is pretty much the utopy of every football fan outside the big five (not counting us this time). And we're even doing that with the lowest net spend in the league. In recent years we've had the 13th biggest stadium in England, and although level of success isn't directly correlated to stadium capacity, there is a very clear link, at least if you except the northerners. So I think a lot of other teams' fans are annoyed that it is us and not them who are so far above their rightful place (although, of course, our rightful place is sixth, which isn't that far off, but that's a result of the foundations Levy has built, which again is the main source for envy here).

Question though, why do we even care if Spam, Chavs or Arse hate us, I don't, I don't want them to like us. As for Leicester again couldn't give a shit, they have their own weird League of Gentlemen ways about the club and the city.

There are a few teams I don't mind like Everton and to some extent pre-Jose United but for the main I don't want to chum up with another team. How embrassing has it been for Chelsea last season to join with Leicester to stop us.

As for success yes we need to change that but the league is hard when 2 other teams effectively money scam the league (Chavs and City) so we need to start doing better in the cups.

The reason I care is because I find it reduces our chances of being successful in the league. Last year, Leicester were challenging for the title and they had, to my knowledge, one derby and that was vs Villa. In our run-in, we had Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea. All three top 10 regulars. The latter two's sole focus at the time of the game was to stop us as their seasons petered out.

This year, it's West Ham and even Arsenal where I saw both clubs with doctored club crests with their own and Chelsea's. Supposedly another London rival but their hatred for us exceeds that of theirs for Chelsea. Had it of got to Leicester away, you can guarantee they'd be desperate to beat us, too.

Every club has rivals but beyond Utd (who are universally hated) I don't know any other club which has 3 major teams from the same league. 6 huge games against strong opposition.

IMO West Ham won't have played like Friday all season. Chelsea same last year. It's almost as if they can right the wrongs of a bad season by beating/stopping us. So we face hugely motivated teams and managers.

It's not THE reason for our 'failure' over the last two years but it's yet another obstacle.

That is a good point, I kind of think once we win something that will disappear to a degree (not the hate), at the moment our rivals fan bases can't accept us an upstart team from winning anything big.

They know we are close to being top 4 regulars and having a seat at the top table. With Chelsea the lotto Chavs nothing could stop their cheating dodgy rise to the top when the gangster took over, money buys power but we have a project, it's not bought.

Leicester was a 'fairytale', a one off but we are upstarts who should know our place. That is the constant sense I get from rival fans. Unfortunately we are going to have to win something to earn respect and our rivals will do everything to prevent that.

I agree somewhat...

I don't think we act up or boast at all about not winning things...so that's nonsense for a start.

Firstly it is about proximity... West Ham haste us for a number of reasons:

Firstly, of the three other London PL teams, Chelsea and Arsenal have general been on a different planet to them, we have just been better than them so it is a comparable.

Second, they are supported by white working class racist types. Brexit voters and xenophobes who have always hated Jews. Given Tottenham's historical association with North London's Jewish community it is hardly surprising that they hate us.

Finally we are the closest PL team to them by proximity.

Arsenal is a traditional local rivalry.

Chelsea hate us for the same reason West Ham do, again it's traditional anti-semitism in the main, coupled with the fact Arsenal, until the last decade have mostly been far better than them.

Given the amount of hate we get from opposing fans, I think it's fine for us to bite back.

I don't like your post because of this.

Our fans have a reputation for being mouthy dickheads to be honest. Whenever I meet supporters of other teams they often seem surprised that I'm not some gloating wideboy from Essex shouting that Dele is the best player on Earth etc, or taking the piss out of other teams we've just beaten.

"White working class racist types. Brexit voters"

I can assure you that those weren't the only people who wanted out of the EU. It's a moronic generalisation that was made up by people that couldn't accept the result.

No no, I thought that before the result.

It's because we come out with things like "Mind the Gap"...

how is that any different to:

"Forever in our shadow"
"It's happened again"
"Who came third in a two horse race?"

or anything else like that...
It's different because it was gloating with the assumption that we would finish above the goons...how many years until we actually did it?

Mugged ourselves off.

I went to school in Catford, I was the only Spurs fan in a massively Arsenal favoured student-base. I never mouthed off or anything like that, but received a load of shit every time we lost. Everyone at school used to talk about how much they hated Spurs and how scummy the club is.

I think it was just because there was only one of me and I could only knock out so many of them.

Chelsea would in theory have more rivals, Fulham, QPR, Millwall, West Ham, Spurs, Arsenal etc but half those these aren't in the Prem and Chelsea don't have to care as they can buy a massive squad to deal with the pressures.

It was really because you were wearing one of these badges (http://www.stdunstans.org.uk/media/news/article/1856/Prefect-Team-2017-2018) and demanding your fag scamper to your dorm room to clean your riding breeches ["this instant!"] all the time, wasn't it?

I wish I went to St Dunstan's! I went to Sedgehill School, before it got renovated into the heaven it is now.

I was one of the most bad-ass kids there, didn't even wear my facking tie or tuck my shirt in. Used to slug it out with hundreds of Gooners at once, like that scene in the Matrix when Keanu bashes up all the Agent Smiths.
