Why do people chant for JD

I have just got home from the game and i am a season ticket holder, whenever JD warms up loads of people chant "jermain defoe hes a yiddo???"

I find this hard to swallow as he wont even put pen to paper and sign a new contract so i feel a little "f**k you p**cks" is what he is thinking? so why are people all for him and not players on the pitch?? if i was a striker for tottenham and the fans sung for JD and he was not on the field i would be pretty pissed off!!

Just wondered if someone could tell me why he is held in such high esteem as he is never picked to start recently and that is under two managers.

No different to Keano or Berba when they go to warm up, after being benched. What's baffling is why it bothers you so?

Yea I don't get it, people were signing it while bent was coming on today.

I hope Defoe goes in January

just like when other players warm up they get there name chanted, its called suporting the team (and that doesnt just mean the ones on the pitch)

and Defoe is ahrdly getting any games, though that might or might not change under ramos, but why should a player sign if they want first team football, and getting very little of it? probably best for Defoe to leave in the next window, and we find someone who will be happy to sit on the bench most the time

Some of u live in a a fantasy land, why should he sign if he is not gonna play regularly

Its just common sense, glad that the fans chant his name good for confidence

It'd be pretty strange if he did put pen to paper without hesitation, given his lack of first team chances.

And let's not forget he's never moaned to the press about it and seems to respect the club and the management. Has carried himself well and shown character in a situation that would send the Anelkas of this world into a screaming tantrum.

If he did leave in January I won't be screaming about a lack of loyalty - I'll be thinking it's fair enough really. Be a shame to see him go, though.

I might get slaughtered by loads of Defoe fans but to be honest I just don't rate him!

I would be happy to take some dosh for him in January! Whenever I've seen him play for Spurs in past few years he hasn't particularly impressed me and never seems to off the same as certain other forwards (no names mentioned as don't want to go off subject...).

Before anyone says he doesn't get given many starts the whole reason he lost his place is because he was playing crap and others scored on their first games back in the team.

I'd like us to recoup some cash for him to use for strengthening the midfield and defense.
