Why is Dembele being frozen out?

Wish the club was more transparent sometimes - well all the time actually but understand why they aren't sometimes.

I am just as confused by this but, let's be honest, we always hail one player who isn't getting game-time as the solution to our problems when we're on a bad run.

Dembele just isn't ever going to consistently be the player we want him to be. When he is that player, it lasts 3-4 games and we're back to the incredibly frustrating version of him for the next 10.

We need solid players who can consistently put in an 8/10 performance and do the job the manager wants them to do, not players who occasionally wow us with a 10/10 performance but generally average at a 5 or 6 and just want to do their own thing on the pitch.

Sadly the latter is Dembele. He's not the Messiah, he's a very underwhelming boy!
Agreed but he is better and more consistent than a lot of the crap we are putting out at the moment and it's not coincidence our form has dropped with him out the team.

With Lokomotiv Moscow saying the apparently came close to signing him in Jan I guess he's not rated by Poch. If that's the case I can see why he's being left out but at the aame time, why are the likes of Paulinho still being utilised?

Perhaps it's down to workrate in training, or simply just personality. Some managers can be a bit funny when it comes to favourites and players they just don't get on with, even the best ones.

Either way, Dembele is a good centre midfielder and not bad enough that he's to be shunned completely. He can have some outstanding games too. He's very good at what he does, but really poor at some core things. However, that's pretty much the story of the vast majority of our players. Mason's been a bit out of form lately and I liked the combination of Bentaleb and Dembele when we played Chelsea earlier on in the season. I wouldn't mind trying those 2 together. Also, as I've said repeatedly, I wouldn't mind giving all 3 a go in midfield and the change the shape up a bit.

Lamela - Dembele - Eriksen
has been our most effective front 3 behind Kane this season.
Most people seem to have seen it so i can only think that Poch sees this season as a transitional season (yet another) and is trying out a few other players to see whether we'll get rid in the summer. i.e Townsend, Chads, Pauli.
Otherwise the last couple of months make no sense.

I'm so fed up of this stuff.

Managers who make totally inexplicable decisions, picking teams we all know won't work and refusing to choose players who've brought us good results previously.

Managers who insist on sticking with their formation and won't countenance any change, who refuse to move away from their so-called fucking 'philosophy'.

Managers who get chips on their shoulders about certain players, or fall out with individuals.

Managers who are incapable of straightforward man management, of restoring relationships and getting a bunch of players to pull together.

And most of all I'm totally fucking fed up of the total silence we get from the club on every bloody thing, from the stadium to injuries to anything to do with transfers.

I've just had enough of this unexplained bullshit we've been dealing with for years. It hardly seems to happen at other clubs.

He's just so inconsistent, like he did play well in the Arsenal game but lets not forget how abysmal he was in the next game against Palace. There have also been quotes from him in the past saying he finds it hard to get motivated against smaller teams. That's his biggest problem imo.

I would rather play players like Dembele and Lamela who are hit and miss but at the same time capable of something special than play Townsend and Chadli who only seem to have one gear, reverse. Bentaleb I highly rate but he looks shagged, not surprising due to games and travelling he's done this season for both Spurs and Algeria. Mason is enthusiastic but only an average player. A warn out Bentaleb + a squad player + 2 clowns out wide = surprise surprise, toothless performances, no goals, no defensive cover and more importantly, no wins.

I love Poch in general, but he is really testing my patience with regards Dembele and Lamela in particular. I can't fathom why the system that dominated Arsenal and played very well at Anfield has been jettisoned after one poor half whilst the current shower has been afforded repeated poor showings

West Ham was the game he struggled in after Arsenal, not Palace.

I'm not Dembele's biggest fan, but even I can see he wasn't so bad in that match that he merited being ostracized completely, especially since the entire team was being pressed into pulp. West Ham showed us a real press that day and in that half in particular, and we utterly folded under the weight. When Dembele did lose the ball for the most part, it was at least high up the pitch. He made one critical gaffe in our half that led to a goal, and he was apparently sucked into Death's black hole as a result.

Wouldn't be surprised if Benitez is interested. Would fit in very well with his style.

It's just really frustrating to be honest, epecially when these players had been playing well and make us look better as a team.

Dembele should definitely be starting and I know this opinion will be divided but Lennon should still be at the club getting some play time too. I'm sure he wouldn't be as bad as Lamela, Chadli and Townsend have been, plus he was our only direct winger as opposed to an inside one.

We've seen strange selections before but when they're so glaring and so frequent it's incredibly frustrating.

He's still better than what we've been putting out there for weeks now inconsistent or not. Just again shows Poch to be similar in his man mgt to AVB which is worrying. Poch better be backed fully in the Summer is all I would say. No only that there needs to be a. Interested parties and b. Willingness of the player to give up London and a fat weekly cheque.

Of all the players i'd like to see the back of. Dembele isn't one of them for the reasons people have listed here. I really hope Poch' knows what he's doing, because based on the last couple of months team selections my bottom lip has quivered on a few occasions…. I seriously hope it is not yet another case of the stubbornness that his predecessors have suffered with.

Poch as been caught up in the hype surrounding Mason at the expense of Dembele, that he's blind to see that Mason contributes fuck all, along with the rest of our ineffective midfield

Poch gave Dembele up for lent.

It can be the only explanation, unless of course Dembele got his peanut out in front of Poch's missus which would explain this whole crazy charade.

Such a talented player, but why do I think he never gets beyond 3rd gear, wouldn't look out of place at a really top team IMHO

It happens plenty at other clubs, you just don't realise it because you're not following them closely.

It's funny how Dembele get frozen out after a bad half and others get unlimited chances even after playing shite week in week out and by this I mean Townsend!!
