yeah which you will learn much better playing competitive football. reserves and training dont even compare to proper football. send him on loan to a premiership side for the first half of next season would be best imo

At the moment he's so far from the finished article that there's no chance of him getting in the first team or even the squad.

Lennon was poor yesterday but at least he was in the right place and offered shape to the team. On top of that he got back and did some good defensive work aswell.

Taarabt is as defensive minded as Ginola used to be and simply doesn't offer enough going forward to be that sort of luxury player. He tries to beat the same player 3 times, hasn't shown any ability to pass incisively and hasn't covered himself in glory in front of goal. And that's not just in the few first team appearances it's in the reserves aswell.

He's got talent but at the moment hasn't shown that he can use it effectively. Hopefully he can sort it out...but if he doesn't he won't be ousting anyone from the team any time soon.

But he can learn still from Reserve football, there is a huge diffrence in class between the 2, but learning to play as a team player, then playing in a league he is too good for is probably better, he will have to learn to play as part of the team and not be a one man team and show off all the time.

He is too much of a risk to play in most games, can see Championships sides maybe taking a gamble on getting him on Loan, but maybe not a EPL side

This has got El Hamdouri written all over it....

Can't be any worse than Lennon at the moment so why not give him a go, when were a few goals up against the barcode scum.

Why do we never send promising youngsters on loan? Instead we just keep them in the reserves, when they would be better off getting first team experience else where.

But yeah he should be given a chance, I saw him vs Derby at the start of the season and he was awesome

can only assume the coaching staff want the main control on our best prospects development. still think loaning is more valuable in the long run. o'hara would have never got the standard he is without going to milwall on loan and learning a lot about higher level footy.

Personally, I think he's at a similar stage to Ronaldo when he first joined United (actually, a lot rougher round the edges - but u get the point) he's gonna need some nurturing and some proper games to toughen up.
I dont doubt his ability (I remember him nutmegging Fabregas - or some goon) but his application is what's lacking.
IF (and it's a big if) Ramos thinks he's gonna be big, i'm sure he has some plan for hime to adapt to the proper game.

Unfortunately I think he's a long way off the point Ronaldo was at when he arrived. He's 19 which is the age Ronaldo was when he arrived but whereas Taarabt has played 3 games at the top level and hasn't set the reserves alight, Ronaldo had played in Europe and in a European league which has some decent clubs in it.

Taarabt has a long long way to go in my opinion. I hope he makes it but I'm not sure.

what, scoring goals and getting assists

I am aware of his one assist for Dawkins' goal and the penalty he scored against Birmingham on March 3. Could you list the others you are referring to please? Thanks.

He's a skillful player, and I love watching him, but Ramos isn't going to want someone to play around and do fuck all.

Send him on loan to Norwich or someone, decent Champ side with a good manager who need an injection of flair.

To all the people saying he hasn't covered himself in glory in front of goal, neither has Lennon, his final ball, ditto, but, he beats his man, more and more, Lennon is failing to.

Why not play him over steed for a couple of games? Give him a chance, it might even show him up, it'll make him work harder if he's shit in the first team. Leaving him in the ressies to embarrass the kids in defence will make his ego even bigger.

A pretty decent illustration of why he doesn't play more:

Some decent skill in there and plenty of cockiness, but very little in terms of end product. And that was against by far and away the worst team in the league.

that is just one game though, the reports from other games havnt been as good as that one, would rather he was doing it more concistent in the reserves before givne more of a chance in the first team

in a lot of the reserves games as well he plays in the hole behind the one striker, he is one of those players who gets you excited when he's on the ball, his skill is amazing but he still needs to learn the best time to eitehr keep or pass the ball. most times i've seen him he ends up doing something in between much to team mates frustrations!

he could be great player IMO but perhaps needs to go and toughen up in the championship or league 1 for a while!! he'll learn to pass the ball then once he's clattered a few times!

the only way we are going to see how good taarabt is atm is if he gets a fair amount of time on the pitch, at 1st team level. then we can asses him properly

Taarabt is a really tricky one.

I don't think it would be a good idea to send him on loan to the Championship. He'd be playing with teammates who are far inferior to him technically, and I suspect it would encourage his worst trait: his tendency to ignore his teammates and back his own ability to dribble past the opposition solo.

Also, given we've lost the jewel of our Academy, Terry Dixon, to a terrible knee injury, I'm not a big fan of the idea that, crudely, "once he gets kicked a few times he'll pass the ball more often".

We all know what the issue is. Taarabt has to accept that football is a team game, and that he has to play to a team shape and philosophy, only taking men on when it's the best option for the team. It's like a drug addict. There's no point in sending them to rehab until they decide, in their own mind, that they want to be clean. Taarabt has to decide he wants to play for the team. Until then, Ramos won't pick him.

If Taarabt is showing no sign of getting it, and we want to keep his registration, then I would loan him out to a technical league, such as La Liga. He probably would get playing time at a bottom half La Liga side, as well as getting the team ethic drilled into him relentlessly.

or the coach's can do what they are paid for and asses him during training and reserve games

I really hope to see Taarabt play 15 mins in every game until the end of the season. I think he needs to learn more teamplay, but he is a special talent, and deserves his chance.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also very ego at first, but now he is a complete player. Taarabt is not the same as Ronaldo, but he has many of the same movements and skills as him. He needs more time, and the more he plays in the first team, the more he adapts, and learns.

Taarbart is the new ZeeZoo. The boy is absolute class, surprised people can't see his blatant talent.

Ramos should start to introduce him abit more, maybe next season we ll see more of him. The encouraging thing is that Ramos seems to pick him for many of his squads even if he doesn't start him.

give the boy a chance is what I say. we've effectively nothing to play for the rest of this season so we should bleed the talented youngsters so that they don't become rabbits in the headlights when we need them next year.

unless Ramos doesn't rate him in which case he'll be shipped off in the summer. that would be a pity because his raw talent is probably up there with Berba from what I've seen. if he can be moulded into a team player we'll have a player who fits in nicely with the old school Spurs ethos of having ridiculously talented players who mock the opposition with their mere presence.
