It's easy to say. What if Kovacic then hands in a transfer request next week and we don't have the £50m up front RM want because we've gone in and paid what Palace want. I'd say central midfield is far more important than another attacking midfielder. I'll trust the club whatever they decide to do.
The nearer we get to the start of the season /close of the window, the less likely that a club will want to do business. Now is the time to get deals done I would have thought.

Firstly, in today's crazy market 70 million isn't way over the top for someone of Zaha's ability. If that price is accurate.

Secondly, this is a player I'd be very confident in - in terms of adding to our attacking strength, so much upside in terms of his experience in this league and his unique skillset. Would be an extremely exciting signing when you couple the above with Poch's record for improving players.

Thirdly, we're strongly led to believe that Poch's has wanted this player for sometime. To push that little bit extra, within reason of course, to get this player in surely gives Poch confidence/reassurance that he's being rewarded/backed and that can only help relations right across the board.

Is 70 million really that bad? Not for me. Hope we bring him in.

Have to agree. I'd be happy with him or Martial. Slightly more so with Martial but there's not a huge amount in it.

With Zaha I feel like he's got "archetypal Spurs player" written all over him. We love a flashy, skilful player that can frustrate one minute and then have you off your seat the next.

I also believe that Zaha has improved and matured his game massively over the past season in particular. He's taken to the responsibility of being the main man for Palace and taken control of games for them every week. He's always terrified me a bit when we've played against Palace and with better quality around him at Spurs I think we'd see him have his best ever season in this league with Kane, Alli and Eriksen getting on the end of his crosses. His stats have suffered a little on that front IMO whilst he's been at Palace.

70m is a lot of money but I feel like it would be worth it.

Palace have lost Fosu-Mensah, Cabaye & Loftus-Cheek this window already. If they lose Zaha and don't invest all of the money they make on him in finding replacements, they haven't got a chance of staying up

A question for thos who have seen a lt of Zaha. Do you think Zaha is a pleyer who needs to be the star of a team or can he fit into a top team of internationals and make his mark?

He’s a danger man.. giving him the ball will automatically create more space for others as most teams double up against him.

I think he will be the star of our team in terms of excitement regardless but I certainly think he will work well with the likes of Dele and Kane.

I rate Zaha but I'm a bit concerned how he'd cope with defence duties / Pochettinos high pressing tactics. I have the same concern regarding Martial to be fair.

I'm confident Pochettino knows what he wants though. He's shown time and time again that mentality is his holy grail.

Exactly, it's a damn sight easier to shut him down for Palace cos opponents don't really have anyone else to worry about other than Wilf. If teams doubled up on him for Spurs then it would simply free up space for Eriksen, Alli, Kane etc

You've kinda just made me realise that Zaha would in all likelihood be the better fit for spurs than Martial although I suspect Martial will end up the more complete player.

You raise a valid point. Zaha's trickery will probably do a lot more against teams dropping deep against us than Martial's directness. We've got to think about what's best for the team, not who the most talented player is or who has a higher ceiling

Of the type of player that gets you of your seat, looks great, but then doesn't actually have much production, I think he's the best. 70m is steep, but I would be interested to see what he could do in our team as we dominate the ball and give him even more opportunities to provide decisive moments than what he would have at Palace. With the amount of pens he's capable of winning too, I suspect Kane might not mind him in the side either.

Zaha went up a level last season. He has become unplayable on his day. He’s not a 20 goal a season CF, but he is a game changer. He can give us something we don’t have and can make a major impact from the bench too. We’d be better with him whether he starts or is an impact sub.

If you chuck Zaha & Son on the left, mix that up with Dele & Eriksen in the middle with Lucas & Lamela as options on the right, that's a whole lot of genuinely competitive AM depth that's cost the club a combined total of £90m + whatever Zaha would cost. Eriksen, Dele, Lucas, Son & Lamela costing £5m less than Siggurdson & Richarlison has for the Toffees. When we've got our recruitment wrong it's gone a bit belly up, but when we get it right we really do get it right

Zaha is mainly a creator (both chances directly and making space for others which indirectly creates chances) and can be unselfish to a fault, he looks for people to pass to when in the box or just outside when he could and probably should shoot. The biggest problem for him is that last season he had Benteke alongside him who scored 3 goals last year (yes 3 goals all season which is fewer than van Aanholt!), Zaha himself being Palace's second highest scorer with 9 and Milivojevic (a midfielder) had 10 goals. Last year in the league Zaha had 9g 5a in 29 games, Mane had 10g 7a in 29 games, Son had 12g 6a in 37 games. Imagine what he could do with a striker that can score 40 a season and multiple team-mates who can score 10-20 a season. Now add in more space because he's not the main/only threat, poch making him better and giving him the confidence to shoot more, him taking a few pointers from Son about directness and you have a very, very good player on your hands.

*so in answer to your question playing in a better team will only accentuate his talent and a number of people will have to give him the credit he's due

No issue with that. Last season when I watched him against us in our first meeting he was pressing hard and tracking back, he was working really hard for Palace. He is not lazy.
