How do you reckon that? Zaha has never broken 10 goals in a season, Son does that every season with less playing time.

The grass is always greener I say.. Son IS a tricky pacy winger (to the guy you were replying to). Zaha looks great in highlights but he's playing for Crystal Palace.. how many teams park the bus against Palace? Almost everyone does vs us..

Put Son in that Palace team last season instead of Zaha? Does Son score more than 10? Do Palace stay up?

It looks like Manure will play hardball with Martial so the Toby money may be spunked on this lad. But £75m quid for Winifred seems outrageous but that’s the crazy market for you. You would think whoever buys him will want a lot of add ons in that price.

Toby out for 60 and Zaha in for 75 sounds good to me. Forget about the numbers, if somebody would offer you swap Toby+15mio for Zaha, you would bite it. Also, some were suggesting Toby+30mio for Martial.

I know that situation is different because it is Utd but it's actually not so important, because Utd will not downgrade if they lose Martial as he was not regular. While we definitely improve with either Martial or Zaha (who is HG!).

Just not sure Levy is thinking the same.

Depending on how Poch rates CCV and Foyth, the Toby money (if sold) could well be spent on his replacement
Foyth is an interesting one, really, now would be the time for him to start looking at being 3rd choice. I'm not sure how he would feel if we brought in another CD. I would think he would be looking to go next summer We also have the question of Dier. Is he a defender or a DM. I think our priority, as has been all summer, should be to bring in a CM. The question is, do we bring in a CM and a DM or a CM and CD.

What do I know? I'm an armchair pundit :)LOL:), but...

Personally, I'd bring Zaha and Pulisic in (probably for £150m), replace Toby for De Ligt, flog the deadwood to recoup some of the £150m spent and crucially move Eriksen to CM.

Attacking options covered, CM creative options covered, CM defensive options covered, CB options covered and HG/squad quotas covered (De Ligt and Pulisic are under 21 and Zaha is HG).

Easy as that (y)

In reality, I'm not sure we've got £150m to spend, I'm not sure Levy would spend it even if we did, I'm not sure that those players would demand reasonable wages and I'm not sure Poch wants Eriksen to play in CM (or whether Eriksen wants to himself)

True but £60m for a 29 year old centre back with a sketchy injury record and high wage demands would have been seen as obscene a while ago too, and kinda does now with him available for £25m next summer. I appreciate his is top drawer but still.

If Poch wants Zaha and he could be brought in for £10-20m more than our unwanted centre back I think I'd back it right now. I'd rather Martial but I also think Zaha would be very good for us.

Completely agree with this. If Poch wants him that bad, we've no excuses not to pay 75M, which isn't that obscene in this new market. Toby at 60M is at his peak financially, Zaha would still retain most or increase his value. It's different if he doesn't choose us over chelski, but that doesn't seem to be the case?

If we move to a City style 433, which we appear to have been playing this preseason, the a CM and DM would be my choice. Grealish to understudy Eriksen as one of the CM's flanking a DM (de bruyne role for City). Dembele, Winks and maybe even Lamela/Alli on occasion covering the other side. Add another DM to cover Wanyama's injury short term, and free up Dier to cover CB long term. Then Zaha to be one of the 3 in attack. Kane, Moura, Zaha, Son, Lamela/Alli all options. Room still to move out Sissoko, Nkoudou & Llorente, maybe even Dembele too depending on the DM we buy.

I'd say yes and maybe. Zaha definitely has potential to become a star, he's only 25 coming into the 'peak' years of a footballer.

Son is 4 months and some days older than Zaha so why don't we think about Son in the same way? Hopefully he can get out of military service..

if we are moving to a 433 and get either Zaha orMartial then id love to see something like this (illustrated with Dier as the holder of the three)

Zahatial --- Kane --- Son
--- Dele ------Eriksen---
------------Dier-------------

scary as hell that is

Personaly I don’t think you should play 433 without a box to box midfielder espechially if our DM is Dier who isn’t the best at moving the ball forward. I still maintain our primary target should be CM. The idea of Eriksen and Alli playing together in a midfield 3 against any decent team gives me the heebe Jeebees. Also what’s wrong with a front 3 of Son - Kane - Moura? Son is better on the left and I would like to see what Lucas can do before ditching him for Zaha or Martial.

i agree against the top 6 teams it might be too attacking

but against the other teams who come and sit back, let them have it I say.
