Willian can undoubtedly play as a #10 but if we move to a 4-3-3, Holtby (providing he signs) will play with Dembele and Parker more often than not. Willian doesn't have the disciple to play in a 4-3-3 and if we go 4-2-3-1 then he will be more of a threat coming inside than he will from the number 10 role where the emphasis will be for him to bring the lone striker and 2 wingers into the game.

Yeah, I was skeptical as well - if the balance would be right with Willian in a central midfield three in the 4-3-3. He would give us options though, could he not play as the wide forward in a 4-3-3, and of course in the 4-2-3-1 cutting in like you say...still think he could do the number ten role well enough as well.

From what I have seen of him, he is a player who can go past players and chip in with a few, I would not say he was massively creative though. He is no VDV, playing him at 10 would give us a few goals but not the creative spark we need, whereas Holtby will give us less goals but will be a creative spark.

I have to say, he looks creative to me. I've seen a lot more of him that Holtby, but I don't think we need to worry too much about this because I can't see it happening for the life of me anyway.

The guy oozes quality and would instantly bring a calming effect to the team, he would be our talisman, keep calm and give Willian the ball. He has so much composure and sees things that our current group don't.

If we got him then I don't care who gets dropped for him and where he plays, just as long as he is in the team.

Hopefully this will open the eyes of the other players and encourage them to make some decent runs for a change now that there is someone that can pick them out.

Why has he started tweeting in English.......

"Goodnight to everyone. God is in control. Thank The Lord for honouring me in the important moments"

Forget the tweet being in English, mofo sounds high as a kite!

We don't need him now. Get Holtby & Negredo in then have another pop for him in the summer when he's got 12 months left. Could be £12-16m with a year left?

So we will be the only club after him then? Seems very unlikely. :)

We really do need him now though. We are lacking in players who can beat a man and give us a spark when we look flat. Willian can do that, so he is very much needed.

Like Moutinho, like Damiao, like Llorente.....this deal will never happen.

We're never going to compete City, Chelsea, Anzhi et all with the wages for these guys. I'd be more than happy picking up bargains like Holtby

not the player we need. We need a striker, and a big one. If the reports on Defoe are true, we are currently down to 0 strikers, with apologies to Obika.

Whilst the need for a striker is obvious, I still think we need a player who can create something from nothing. Even with Bale and Lennon we still struggle massively against teams who set out to defend against us. I think Holtby's speed of brain and pass will help to unlock things a little but if we have a genuine shot at a top class talent we should do it.

The striker situation is worrying.

Well we were a couple hrs and a 3rd party ownership away from paying 22m for Moutinho weren't we?

It can happen, unlikely, but it is foolish to say it won't ever.

There are still a few days before the transfer window closed. If it is followed by an offer from Tottenham or Chelsea, you would have refused the further performances with Shakhtar in the Champions League?

It's two teams with great traditions. Chelsea is the current winner of the Champions League, while Tottenham can also be described as a great club, which is headed by Villas-Boas, but for now I'm a miner. Until the end of the transfer window is left a couple of days and, most of all, the proposals not until. Of course, I always hope to get an offer, but at the moment I am calm and focused on helping Shakhtar in the Champions League. As I said, I was able to talk to the management and they are familiar with my position.

Latest interview with Ukr - sounds like no offers have been made but hopes for one ??

Agree with this.

The striker situation's only gonna get worse. Takes us years to sign strikers and defoe's wrong side of 30 and ade isn't far behind
