Can anyone post some detailed stats of his?

Passing, tackling etc etc?

not got the stats but one of my players is a wigan fan. a good mate of mine who knows his football and he thinks palacios is brilliant. in the DM or the AM role. Rarely gives a ball away. runs and runs, very strong and very accurate tackler. commited but not over committed in terms of sacrificing postiont to win a ball but hard enough to pick up bookings. Carries the ball well, had good pace and decent range of passing. Down fall is his shoting/finishing.

Not Zokora bad in terms of finishing but then no one is that bad.

I disagree, to be honest I do not see nay other club other then Man City coming in for him ( they are in the process of getting De Jong , same mould player like Wilson). I get the distinct feeling that he does not want to come .. again feel free to comment, but this is my opinion.

Well Steve Bruce still seems to think he will be going:

Bruce promises no more sales

Steve Bruce insists Wilson Palacios will be the only player leaving Wigan this month. The £14million-rated Honduran is on the verge of leaving the JJB, with Tottenham and Manchester City battling for his signature. Palacios has been a revelation since his £1million move from Deportivo Olimpia last January and Bruce is resigned to losing the 24-year-old.

But despite Antonio Valencia and Emile Heskey reportedly ready to jump ship in January, Bruce insists the Palacios deal will be the only departure.

The Latics' manager said: "We don't want to lose Wilson, but we have to be realistic. This is a club that will always lose its best players, but you don't want to lose them halfway through a season.

"We have worked so hard over 14 months to get in this position and you hate to dismantle it.

"But I won't be losing two or three this time, just one."

I don't think this one's dead, he probably feels an enormous loyalty to Bruce, hence this being a very difficult decision for him.

It could well be that after a bit of soul searching he decides to move, it's a short career and if he gets injured between now and the end of the season he may never get the opportunity to move to a bigger club again.

Wigan may have offered him a new deal, they might not have - there's no quotes I have come across from Bruce / Whelan saying we desperately want him to stay and have offered him treble the money etc.

I think we can still sign him, Wigan probably do need to sell. You can't survive in the premier league on attendances of 16,000. Palacios may not feel as wanted if he knocks us back.

wigan are going to be drumming up (and are well within their rights to)more interest for this player to try and get the best deal they possibly can.
and if spurs are willing to pay £14m for a player they signed for under £1m a year ago, then why not sell. if the deal falls through i suspect the wigan board will be extremely disappointed by Steve Bruce is likely not to be.
if we can compromise with wigan, WP should come our way as difficult as it might initially be for him to move. though with the way we're playing at the minute, one could forgive any player for not wanting to risk having to look for a move out of the championship in a year...

This has been dragging on for a while, but no news is good news at the moment. We have not even had the 'you heard it here first' SSN yellow ticker that Wigan have actually accepted a deal yet, they have not as far as I can see. Until then this wont move forward very fast unless Wigan have given us permission to speak to Wilson while Levy thrashes out a deal over the next 55 years. While Wigan and Spurs are slient in this transfer this deal is still very much on until were told otherwise, and I dont mean by an ITK.

Am I the only one who isn't too bothered about WP turning us down?

Our central midfield is pretty congested. HR seems to prefer 4-4-2, which means two central midfielders. Assuming Modric is going to be one of them, that leaves one. We have Huddlestone (my first choice) who has pretty much everything WP does + a good scoring record. Maybe not a deft touch, but a quality quarterback who can ping passes anywhere. We also have Zokora. I'm not his biggest fan, but he does a job. And so does Jenas. All are good enough to get us near the 4th spot or there abouts.

We can definitely push back up where we should be with our current squad. They have shown they are capable of some awesome football. They just need to do it week in, week out.

Yes Bruce can't really talk about loyalty, especially after what happened at Palace. He's been looking at the Newcastle job for a long while, and I think with Zaki likely to end up at one of the Big Boys and Heskey almost certainly moving on when his contract expires, not to mention Valencia going to Madrid or United (as Ronaldo's replacement?) you wouldn't blame him if he left.

The Hudd is a class player but he is not mobile enough and doesn't really get his foot in enough. Palacios wins the ball well

I think it's different combinations
The Hudd brings the best out in Jenas, because he creates space for Jenas to run into, while Jenas incredible engine means he can cover any gaps left by Hudds lack of mobility.

Meanwhile, Zokora and Modric are good for eachother because Zokora's lack of invention is made up for by Modric's constant scheming and probing.

In reality, Hudd is too immobile to play with Modric, Jenas is not defensive enough to play with Modric. Zokora and Modric compliment eachother quite well.

Palacios is a player of similar style to Zokora, but with a touch more discipline, a lot more ability and a tougher tackle (Zokora is more interceptor than tackler). Therefoer, I think that Palacios is someone who would be a very good partner for Modric, and their similar ages would mean they could grow together in our midfield for a long time.

However, much as I like Palacios, I will not be heartbroken to have to make do with Zokora and Modric till the end of the season. It is a more than competent combination.

I just read this in the Daily Mail so hopefully it lifts the spirits of everyone.

Palacios, meanwhile, travelled to London last night for talks over a move to White Hart Lane and further discussions are planned for this morning.

Spurs have agreed the fee with Wigan, which will be paid over two years after a request to spread the payments over four years was rejected.
Palacios, 24, will be offered the chance to more than quadruple his £7,000-a-week wages at the JJB Stadium in return for overcoming misgivings about moving to the capital.

Spurs also remain interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper to
provide competition for Heurelho Gomes.

Redknapp is not convinced by reserve keepers Ben Alnwick and Cesar Sanchez and the Spaniard could be offered the chance of a return to his native Spain, with Espanyol and Valencia interested.

Seems to be lost on most but our good form and subsequent bad form has coincided oddly with Hud being in the team and then Hud not being in the team.

I don't understand peoples obsession with his mobility or lack of. He passes it to feet and with a variety of distance, direction and pace. Get in a few other half as talaneted passers to do his running if you need to but for christ sake play him.

Think he'll probably leave soon and be great for someone else.
