To be fair, he's on 10k a week currently, so the increased wages will probably still only be 25k or something. Or, to look at it another way, 1.3million quid a year.

Apro pos of something, Stephen Appiah's wages would be more than 3.5million.

Please see the space below to write your own 'no risk' comments about Appiah. Be warned, though. You'll look a bit silly.

The indy article says Palacios will more tha quadruple his £7k a week salary. I think we might find it hard to match Appiah's wages if he wants circa £60-70k a week. Our highest earners are on circa £50k and might be a bit erked if someone else comes in and earns significantly more, especially if they are injured and cannot play every week.

les ferdinand was on setanta show last night and the presenter said there was talk of WP to spurs and was it a done deal and the response he got was 'there was talk of it today but its not 100% yet'. maybe its just may take on what les said but he didnt seem completely convinced about it happening. of course someone watching it might have taken a different view.

I'm sure Les was just trying to give a diplomatic answer so as to not get into any trouble withe the club....after all, not his place to comment on our transfer dealings especially as he's part of the coaching staff.

I also thought it was funny how Sherwood was saying Keane isn't loved at Liverpool (which he isn't) but it's almost he was hoping Robbie would hear and think, aaww, maybe I'll go back to Spurs then, lol

Wilson Palacios is set to have a medical at Tottenham today before completing his £14million move from Wigan.

Spurs have fought off competition from Manchester City and Manchester United and are confident they will agree a £25,000-a-week package with the 24-year-old.

The deal will provide a major boost for manager Harry Redknapp, who sees strengthening central midfield as vital to the club's hopes of staying in the Premier League.

Palacios's arrival would be Spurs' second January signing after Jermain Defoe, but Redknapp still hopes to bring in more players, with Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt and Aston Villa left-back Nicky Shorey also on his radar.

If Redknapp can complete the deal today, the Honduran would then be
available to play when their League campaign resumes with a home game against Stoke on 27 January.

After picking up his 10th booking of the season last Saturday, Palacios must serve a two-match suspension but he would have been ineligible for Spurs' next two matches at Burnley in the second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final tomorrow night, and at Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday anyway, as he has already played for Wigan in those competitions.

If a deal cannot be concluded before the trip to Turf Moor, Palacios will have to wait until the match away to Bolton on 31 January for his debut.
Redknapp is desperate to finalise the move for Palacios after suffering more frustration in the transfer market this week. Sunderland are determined not to let £15m-rated striker Kenwyne Jones move to White Hart Lane and the Spurs boss could now turn his attention to Lyon striker Fred.

Tottenham have also bid £2m for Newcastle keeper Steve Harper as Redknapp seeks competition for Heurelho Gomes.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure Woodgate's on about 70k a week... Up until then it was King and Keane on circa £47k

Injury prone players should be paid as they play/train. If they're not doing that, what are they earning the large wads of cash for?

Thanks mil1lion,

I really really hope this goes through, and the Shorey, Hunt and Harper stories sound good too.

My fingers are well and truly crossed from now til the end of the transfer window............in fact, til the end of the season!! lol :)

King should give alot of that cash back, no other club would give him £10,000 a week for playing once maybe twice a month.
