Out of all the extorionate deals we are looking to make this one looks to be the best in terms of value for money. Could Wilson finally be the replacement for Michael Carrick?

he looks good, and yeah, I agree, he does have similar qualities to Carrick, although he seems to be stronger on the ball. Carrick had to really work hard when he came here to build up and be stronger, just look at pics of him in 1st game compared to his last for us.

I think Wilson would be a great buy for us if he lives up to this standard he's set himself this year.

we ll live to see. I m rarely wrong in my judgments believe me. But as you said my opinion is based on this little clip. I can t see why people are getting so excited after watching this clip. really.

Dude, what are you expecting? Mazy 40 yard runs, 30 yard goals, flicks, tricks? Football teams need balance, we have a very unbalanced side, and have done for some time. The signing of Palacios goes some way to addressing that.

Remember who was the opposition team in this clip btw. He looked comfortable against the World, European and Domestic champions. Not bad that.

Out of interest, what is your opinion on Makelele? In his Real Madrid and Chelsea days. Did you think he wasnt much to shout about?

Well i will answer your question with another question. What do u see in that clip that makes wilson a better player than brown, mendes, davids, KPB, huddlestone or even zokora. Shielding of a ball and good positioning u will say. But are those enough to judge him as a better player than the above and justify a 12 million fee?

He clearly looks like the sort of thing we need. This video isn't a compilation of wonder goals and mazy runs taken from 524 different games, but a solid, succinct demonstration of what he can do, which is use his brain to read the game, break things up and get thins started, all the while keeping what he actually does relatively simple.

And like someone's noted, it's taken from a single game against the league champions, not a pre-season friendly against Twente Enschede played in Dubai.

It obviously remains to be seen how he'll get on in a Spurs shirt, but I really don't know how people can be negative about that. Only once did I think he made the wrong choice, passing-wise - other than that, he clearly knows what he's doing.

But, having supported Tottenham for he best part of 30 years, I know not to get too excited yet. He's probably getting his lifetime membership to Faces sorted as we speak.

he is confident in heavy traffic in midfield. doesnt shy away from the ball. also it was against the champions league and prem holders so its a good barometer of standard.he was not playing against mugs. get him in. i saw more in that clip than ive seen from some of our boys this season. give him the armband when he arrives too

I'm not sure what message it would send out to the others if we instantly made him captain! But I agree it's impossible not to feel encouraged by watching that. He did a lot of similar stuff against us the other day as well.

Let me just say, Football has moved on. As you should know there are all sorts or unrealistic and inflated transfer fees these days, thats how it is.

I see a player in Palacios who can make alot of difference. Remember that when we bought Brown, he had never played in the Premiership. Palacios is playing for the club currently ranked 7th in the Prem. I will not say he is better than Davids, because Davids was more than just a player, he was a presence. If you cannot see that he is better than Zokora then I dont know what you are watching. I like Zokora, but he is an athlete, whereas Palacios seems to have a footballing brain. Hudd I still have hope for, but apart from his passing, Wilson looks a more complete player. I rated Mendes but he is playing in the SPL now, enough said.

As for KPB? I cant give a fair assesment on him.

A replacement for Carrick/Davids? Looks good from the video.

Very expensive though.

I would have preffered Diarra, but he cost loads (Oi Ramos), and we don't have much time left to find someone else, and we need a player like him to add some grit to our team.

Left winger/defender still wanted though.

4-4-2 Midfield options
O'Harra-Palacios-Modric-Lennon
Bale----Hudd---Jenas---Bentley
--------Zokora

5-3-2
-------Defoe Pav
---------Modric
-----Palacios Hudd
Bale----------------Hutton
--Woodgate Corluka King

It's only a short clip but I that kinda summed up the impression I've had of him whenever I've seen him, a very good player. I struggle to understand how people say he can't pass. Even from that clip, almost every ball went straight to feet. He tried a few longer through balls which his team mates couldn't latch onto, but you have to remember Man Utd have the most organised defence in the league, they haven't conceded in 10 games. Still a couple of the through balls managed to split the defence and it was only the alert goalkeeping of van der Saar which stopped the striker latching onto them.

He moves well, he can tackle, he doesn't panic at all even when under pressure. That clip illustrated that he can use his physicality when under pressure and play the ball out of danger. Anyone who has seen Spurs play for the last few seasons must have noticed the panic set in in midfield on more than one occasion. There were a couple of instances when he even cushioned a ball down in traffic and kept the ball moving.

I think he is going to be excellent for us.

first thing that strikes me form the clip.. amazing player..

secondly , just how hard are the other wigan players working around him? really putting a shift in to make his good work go unwasted.. anyone see Bentley chasing afer his perfect split passes like melchiot was doing? no, me neither

trefar, a real shame couldnt negrep youfo every single post. what are you like.
i like brown but he cost us 600 grand. add the abilitty to pass and skill and obviously the player will be worth at least ten million more.

this guy is a trojan, i hope we get him but we still would need some leader types

glad we didnt get diarra, this guy is a bit bigger and at least as good as diarra..

He looks great in the clip, and has really since he arrived in England, but 14 million.. really?

He might not be worth as much as that (although I think he is really good), but when one club dosn't really want to sell their best player and the other team is in desperate need for someone to play a role (according to the manager) then the price tends to go up. Even if he is only worth 10m would we so no to 14 to save 4m?

No he used to play for Wigan, now lives in the north west of England and so took up their offer of a cheap season ticket.

Originally from London and a lifelong yid.

How long ago did he play for Wigan? is he famous/somewhat known as a pro footballer?

i am of the believer that once we sign palacios we will be 3 players away from doing something special. if we play a flat 4-4-2 of

gomes

hutton corluka woody ??

lennon palacios modric ??/dos santos

?? defoe

if we sign a solid lb like warnock, a striker that can play with his back to goal best player that is available is santa cruz but would cost a fortune and a lw then i am a firm believer that we can do something special.

i have not put king in there because i do not think he will ever recover from his injury and i think it is time for him to retire go and do his coaching badges and come back as some sort of coach at tottenham.
