Mitoma is the one.

Sound him out, talk numbers, get him next summer with a year left. Number one target.
Mitoma Eze Gallagher in
Lo celso Perisic , Gil, Hojbjerg Skipp out

Radicalises our midfield with plenty of options/ variation of style / versatility/ Homegrown options.

That be City strength in depth...maybe more...

Agree that Mitoma would be awesome. But no way it is even a remote possibility until the summer. Even then, I think he'd be Liverpool bound, if Salah leaves. (And yes, I know they don't play the same positions, but that doesn't mean one of Liverpool's 8956 forwards can't play on the right instead).

But yeah, he's like a prototype Ange left wing forward. And even if he wasn't Liverpool bound, the amount they will ask for will be astronomical, even with only a year or two on his contract. Can't see them budging for anything less than 80m. And I'm not sure we'd have the budget to cover that, plus fill out other areas of need.

i trust our scouting group and ange will have options that may not be quite as good at Mitoma, but also, not that much of a drop off either.

Another option for LW should be Pedro Neto. He has been fantastic so far this season, already joint top for assists and joint second for chances created. Considering how toothless Wolves are at the moment he has been a stand out. Should certainly be on our list of options IF Gil doesn’t take the spot for himself (which I hope he does).
Totally agree. I wanted us to sign him before he had the injury. He seems finally fully recovered from it.
At CB I also like the look of Brandwaith(?) at Everton. If their takeover falls through they will need to sell players.

For the January Window, I think anything more than 2 signings is unrealistic. Personally, I would like to see us bring in:

Lloyd Kelly - he is HG (we still have 1 space left). Can play LCB and LB and think his qualities would suit our system.
Redondo - Plays a s a 6, decent in defence, good dribbler and good passer. He is also a unit and very mobile. U21 too, so wouldn't take up a squad place this season.

Long Term, I would like to see our CM options as Maddison, Donley, Bentancur, Sarr, Bissouma and Redondo, letting PEH, Skipp and Lo Celso go, but with AFCON coming up, would only let 1 go in the winter window.

If we do get into one of the European Comps next season, Home Grown Club players could be an issue, however, I don't think HG will be, it will be the total amount of None HG players plus HG players (excluding Club trained) that will be an issue, as it can't exceed 21.

Assuming Perisic, Dier, Lloris and Forster leave on a free, with the rest of our current squad we have now, we would have 17 "None HG" players, 5 HG players and 2 HG Club players, but would still need a CB and Back up GK before even thinking of upgrades. This is assuming Sarr doesn't count as HG club trained in Europe, which I don't think he will.

We do have 1 too many LBs, CMs and Strikers (assuming Son will be used more as a striker than on the LW), so would probably need to thin the squad there, but losing Skipp as the CM doesn't fix the issue. The best was to fix it IMO, would be to loan Veliz (unless he usurps Richarlison in the meantime), replace Lo Celso with Donley (Lo Celso is never available anyway) and sell either Davies or Sessegnon.

Big question marks I hope we get answers to this season are:
Can Kulesveski play the Maddison role if needed? This would be a big help in having Donley replace Lo Celso IMO.
Can Gil play a good enough level at LW? If not, I think we should replace him with a player capable of making the 1st team spot his own.
Can Sessegnon get over his injury troubles and be a good enough back up to Udogie?
Can Richalison be a good enough option to Son , especially v Low blocks?
What level is Veliz at, does he need a loan or can he be more useful than Richarlison?
Is Donley at a good enough level to back up Maddison (along with Deki)?

Osimhen being pushed out by Napoli it seems....

I recognise there's no way it happens, but...

People talk about Evan Ferguson for mega money. But if we're keen to really splash the cash to take us up a level, this is surely the guy. A genuinely proven, world class striker at a good age.

Going to Saudi though, sadly

I doubt he’d go to Saudi. He’s talked about wanting to play in the PL. Maybe it’s too much money to turn down, but it would be a shame if he retired at his age.

Agree, I think its more likely that Donley gets a loan next season and Devine comes into the first team as Maddison's back up. Personally I don't see Donley getting a chance in the 1st team this season, maybe after Christmas in the cup or if we go through a injury crises, but considering he hasn't been training with the first team as far as I know I doubt we will see him any time soon.

Mitoma is very appealing but I feel he may be out of our grasp.

Eze and Lauriente next summer would actually be my ideal solution to strengthen our starting RWF and LWF options, whilst adding depth at no.10, and leaving pathways open for Devine, Donley, Moore.

In defence our squad depth can be addressed without a massive outlay.

Kelly (LCB) and Cirkin (LB - £6m buy back clause) would by ideal to complete the back line whilst helping association / club trained quotas.

Our youth pipeline of defenders beneath this is immense, and I feel Phillips can be the first to make an impact next season, and Vuskevic arrives the year after so would leave RCB alone.

GK depth looks good with Keeley and Gunter both profiling as what we need. I'd possibly extend Forster for another year for experience or bring in a HG replacement ie Johnstone / McCarthy / Gulasci

In CM a 6 or 6/8 would be preferred to make the most of our incredible depth of no.8/10 CM prospects, and not block pathways for the above plus Hall or Olusesi, or take minutes away from Sarr.

Redondo would be ideal, and as a bonus is more obtainable in January as his club season finishes in November. Suspect he could also cover CB and maybe RB if needed.

Being U21 it wouldn't have to be dependent on shifting Hojbjerg first, so can time it to cover Bissouma and Sarr going to AFCON. If Hojbjerg stays then loan out Skipp.

Failing that there are some excellent CMs with 1 year left next summer such as Fofana, Merino, Kone, or Thuram.
I just dont get it with Eze personally. Every time I watched him he's so bang average. I think olise is a much bigger talent. Plus palace are an absolute nightmare to deal with and refuse to sell their players except for huge money. The 75m quoted for eze he is worth no where near that

Instead of who though? Donley suits the Maddison role more and, if he improves defensively, he could be ideal for the #8, but Bentancur and Sarr will be hard to usurp.

I like Devine though but reckon he will be best out on loan for a couple of years.

Devine wouldn't be a great Maddison back up IMO, he isn't a playmaker.

Tbf the only time brighton sell for reasonable money is when a player a year left. So you never know, he could be a reasonable fee. If we are back in the champs league, I really hope we do go big for 2-3 players to really elevate us.

I wasn't thinking of actual role just our future midfield. On the basis of Ange saying he doesn't want clones for every position I see Alfie in the squad next season ahead of Donley.

He'll have 1 year on his deal next summer and is a Base client who we love dealing with.

I think in terms of his general play, he plays in largely in the centre for Palace which is a more nuanced position than wide. Palace have largely had bang-average coaches since he's been there. Their play is meat and potatoes football. With his ability to carry the ball through the lines and a coach like Ange, he'd take huge steps up, IMO.
