If that is true then I would say he is quite an unlikely target for us, for the next 12 months at least anyway. It is possible to nick players when they are in this type of situation but its rare.

There is still several quality options out there for us, I am not expecting to get many or even a couple of these but if we cant land 1 proven or at least hot prospect to show some intent and keep the best coach we've had in most our lifetimes happy then...

CM - F.De Jong, Ndombele, Rabiot

LB - F.Mendy

CB - De Ligt

1 of the above and maybe another 1 or 2 from the below list of players who may not make an immediate impact for us. Then we would have made significant strides in repairing the mess of the last window.

Grimaldo, Tierney, Chilwell, Ake, Diop, D.Rice, Barrios
Not really sure Chilwell belongs in that bottom list anymore. He looks like the real deal these days

I’m amazed people don’t want Rabiot, he’s what we need in midfield.

We’ve a good relationship with PSG. We are raising the level of wages that players like him would command and the fee would be fine for a player of his level. If it doesn’t work out we will move him on, he’s not going to lose value at his age.
I think it’s pretty clear that it’s not due to his play, but the fact that he’s done nothing but act like a cancer at his club since he ever started making appearances.

He and his agent mother like to try and kick up a fuss every single year at his parent club that gives him plenty of playing time and a heck of a wedge in wages.

He would be the absolute worst fit here and Pochettino would end up firing him into the sun within his first week of being here. Can’t see why Levy would want the headache either.

Which positions do we actually need to improve in? We have such great strength in depth. I’d say:
1st team LB with more pace
CM
Better back up ST than Llorente

Then we are pretty much there aside from buying a Messi/Ronaldo/Mbappe etc I’d not see how we could realistically easily then improve our 1st XI or squad if we added these 3 positions.

DM depending on how you view Sissoko/Wanyama for the other player to rotate with Dier.

The vast improvement in Sissoko and the continued evolution of Winks have lessened the pressure to bring in a CM as one of those with Dier or Wanyama will be good enough more often than not, but I’d still like to see something more in CM. Dembele is quickly becoming obsolete due to the form of others as well as his dwindling fitness, performance level and, of course, contract. If there is someone good enough to bring in, then we absolutely should, someone who could play with any of our other midfielders and complement them. Someone in the Carrick mould would be ideal.

I'm going to get hate for this but I honestly think Giroud would be a perfect Kane back-up. He's good enough to carry the load on his own and hold up play and link in Lucas and Son when Kane needs a rest and he's happy to come off the bench and has the ability to come on late and provide a spark. Yes he played for the scum but he's one player I've always kind of liked, maybe it's his good looks. Would love to see him play for us. Think he'd be a perfect fit.

Ex scum player from Chelsea? Good luck with that, would love to see the negotiations.

I'd sign him just to stop him scoring against us at every opportunity.

Not gonna happen, though.

LB & CM are a must imo

This is essentially it, we need to spend big money on these two positions. Whilst i'd love to bring in Jadon Sancho or someone like that, that isn't essential for us.

Aurier at PSG was a beast and he showed yesterday he can be a very good aggressive RB, you had pace/power to our LB position (i love Ben Davies but he is a back up at best) and someone into our CM mix, especially with the resurgence of Sissoko, that is a very strong mix of players.

He left Arsenal because he didn't want to be a back-up, and he'll probably leave Chelsea for the same reason. He does have a knack for scoring off the bench though.

Giroud is better than Llorente but why would we buy another big battering ram when we don’t play the right way for the one we already have?

I'm assuming Teamtalk is a shit source but they've posted another article about Tottenham wanting Sander Berge in January with Dembele on his way out making a spot.
