According to the Guardian, Ramos is toying with the possibility of naming Woodgate as captain next season after being impressed with his leadership both on and off the field and the long term injury doubts over Ledders.

What do you all think about this? Wooders has been great since he arrived, but captain? I still hope Ledders will return and be in place at the beginning of the season. I'm not sure my mind can quite adjust to no Berba, no Ledders and Wooders as captain.

Do it. King can be "Club captain", Woody "Team captain", Keane Vice-captain. Job done.

Becoming one of my fav players at the Lane. Apart from the Toon game when he wasn't fit hae has been superb. scoring the winner in the cup final also helped his cause! But i would be happy with him as skipper but hope ledders is fit next season

I think he is definately the best choice and i would be very happy.

It is important that our captain plays week in we out - I think we are all agreed on that.

For me woodgate has the experience and the leadership abilities to be a good captain. He also seems to have the knack of popping up with a vital contribution at the right time.

Having played football myself for years i think it is very important to have a captain playing in theb centre - CB or CM.

All in all more than happy with Woodgate!

Best choice aside from Ledders IMO but depends on his fitness, may end up with the same situation as ledders. mabye if ledders goes and we bring in a world class CB or CM who rarely get injured then they could be captain.

I'd prefer woodgate over ledders as ledders is just too often injured but yea surely we'd have doubts over woody's fitness aswell. We need consistency and for that we need a captain who will always be fit. Mabye Hutton??

Yes very likely unless Juande brings someone in during the summer to be captain.

anyone else get the feeling we're being prepared slowly for life without King? They're breaking it to us gently. maybe they're breaking it to him gently. maybe Im reading too much into this.

Woodgate has outstanding credentials BUT we could be facing a summe where we loose Berb and King... i 'm not sure i'd be comfortable adding to Keanes woes by taking the Cpt off him.

Keane has changed from a player who arm flapps and moans all of the time to one that does it increasingly rarely. He's become his nations captain and deemed the best to remain so by one of the greatest ever coaches.

2 seasons ago I would have said take it from Keane and give it to somone else. Now I see the risk in upsetting him and further upsetting the better players in the squad as too great.

Might sound crazy but if he chose to stay, i'd make Berbatov captain. Someone with that aura surrounding him would certainly be beneficial to younger players who im sure look up to him anyway, and for me, when there's no natural leader in the side (i still think its too early to say that Woodgate is a leader) im always in favour of making your best player captain. People will say that he's too critical of other players on the pitch but for me, if you want to progress as a team, you need to be scolded for misplaced passes and poor decisions-in the long run it makes you a better player and team and i think that Berbatov's frustration is telling in highlighting how far we are away from being a top side.

Berbatov is a stropper, not captain material

Woodgate would make a better captain than Keane, there's no room for sentiment when we're crying out for leadership.

Spoken by someone who perhaps underestimates the significance of psychology in sport.

Not at all, spoken by someone who knows everyone would ridicule berbatov as captain, much the same as they did with Gallas' strops

Beratov would be a bad captaion pick IMO, would rather someone who would bellow out comands instead of complain and throw there arms up in the air, he could become a good captaion, but not with how he is just now

Wouldnt mind Woodgate as captain, seems to walys put in 100% and i would bet the other players respect him as it is and would do as he says!
