I was too young to have 1st hand knowledge of Napoli at the time but didn;t the same team get relegated the season after Maradona left.
No

Maradonna he was banned for 15 months for positive cocaine test in 1990 (from the world cup) and left Napoli in 1991, Napoli still won the Italian Super Cup that year whilst he was banned

Napoli came 4th and qualifed for the Uefa in the 1991-92 season and were not relegated until the 1997-98 season (so way too long after he left to be attributed to losing him)

Their decline after Maradonna was more to do with their money troubles and loss of several great players, not just him (Zola and Fonseca for example)

There's quite a political north south divide in Italy and there's more to the Napoli rise and fall than just Maradonna I believe.

Evertime I watched Raul play I thought he was dog shit. I know his records speak for themselves but always watching Madrid I thought they missed a guy up front with to finish. He was especially toilet when I watched Spain play.

Others I know will love the guy but I could never see it, perhaps bad luck on the games I saw him play.

would be the last person I would expect to see in this thread. But everyone entitled...

Gerrard, just because of the reasons people define him as first class for. His long passing skills are non existant. Sure he'll hit 1 in 10 perfect long balls, but really he should have been looking to keep possession.

Xavi - passes sideways to players that can use the ball. Very effective player, but not world class.

Must be the best sideways passer in the world because when he is not in the team barca are alot more clueless than when Messi isnt in the team

Goldenballs, one of the most overated players i have seen.
I dont think he was overrated as he was a great player but I think he got his marketing so right that he is remembered for being better than he was after Madrid his career has been a pile of shit and been a mercenary

Ashley Cole, even Wallnut gets the better of him at a times.

Carles Puyol

Henry.

As much as I hate to say, Ashley Cole at his best was easily one of the best left backs in the world. A complete and utter, grade A twat but still a quality left back.

I'm not having that. The pass for the third goal against Milan

is sensational, and typical.

I hope you don't mean Paul Scholes as well. Criminally under used by a succession on England managers. The England team should have been built around him but he was shafted out on the left wing to accommodate 2 midfielders who just did not work as a pair (Lamps/Gerrard). No wonder he retired early from Int football....
Nope - Fair point. Scholes was dreadful dirty bastard once his legs went, but in his prime he was best in breed.

A truly world class player once said of Golden Balls, he cannot head a ball, he can not tackle, he has no pace, he can not beat a man, he has not left foot. So what the hell makes him a great player.

So true.

Henry is one of the best players to ever play in the Premeir league. Why do you think he's overrated?

I can't think of many better than Cole either. Is it an Arsenal/Chelsea thing? If so then fair enough.

When I was a kid and I saw the highlight of Chris Armstrong's goal that got wedged it the goal frame.

I thought he was destined for greatness.

Ibrahimovich - I have never seen him have a good game let alone an amazing one. Ive watched him for club and country. Maybe I just haven't seen the right games but tonight he isn't proving me wrong (yet), lazy and a poor first touch.

Knew he would score as I posted this
