Would we benefit from selling Modric this summer?

It is better to have a long term strategy based on good footballing ethos than to pray you can fluke 38 games.

which is why i want brendan rodgers and a fresh start with a long term plan.

why lol? bale isn't the future of this team. 3 years left on his deal after this summer(i think), it's unlikely he'll be extending it so it's best to sell while his stock is at it's highest. with the way we're playing right now it's almost inevitable.

I can see Bale staying one more season and then going. Modric will certainly go, providing it's a good deal for us.

Personally I'd like something like:

£25-30m + Valencia from Utd
£35m + Johnson from City

Perhaps unrealistic but the ball is in our court with Modric regardless of CL football, transfer requests and sulking.

Take the money, invest where we need to and hopefully move forward. I still think for all this to happen we will need Harry to go to England.

he hasn't done anything for weeks now, and as i have said many times he doesnt score enough or provide enough. He floats around looking good, that's about it. I wont miss him.

It was that or an essay explaining why you don't base your team selection based on flukey results that had nothing whatsoever to do with clever tactics.

So, it is the former, then (clearly not one of your essays, so that narrows it down ;)) (y)

I can see, Modric going, and, provided we coverthe back-end, I am not opposed to it. Not too United, however - either Citeh for a massive premium (£35 million Johnson would be a fair opening offer), or abroad. And absolutely not ever to Chelsea - unless it is a monthly offer (with deluxe magazine), where they buy a magazine every monthy with a little bit of him glued to the front - 24 monthly parts, they can assemble the pieces as they go along, or as they can wait until they have all of the pieces and then glue him together - the :censored:s

Sad to say, you are wrong - he is a fantastic player.
We wouldn't have been bothered if he was sheeeee-ite.
His form hasn't been great, however.

Realistically we'll be lucky to get £30m+ for Modric this summer.

Yeah exactly.

Looking at one game is short sighted as many things can affect a football game. However over the long run it will be there for all to see.

You are entitled to your opinion, but that is all it is an opinion.

Doesn't score, doesn't provide and can't take corners. He can go for all I care.

I have to say its time, he is negative and not interested. If we can get 30+ then ofski. And u agree drop him for qpr game as well.

In all seriousness Modric is a class player. I for one appreciate his class but for a couple of month now i have been paying attention to Modric performances his dip in form has seen us slip up alarmingly, for me he doesn't look interested in the games that matter he hasn't once this season controlled a game.

Now i was one of those who insisted we hold onto Modric at all cost last season, especially from the grasps of Chelsea. Considering all I have concluded that it would be best only if he pushes for a move this close season we should sell without haggle.

I'd love Modric to stay love spurs and play his heart out but if that not possible we need to move on.

Deffo! I'd say have Livermore and either Parker or Sandro in the centre. Might not be the most creative central duo, but Jakey boy have made some slick passes of late.

£40m+ for someone who can't take a corner and shoot? Fuck yeah

LOL exactly. People say Modric is the conductor of the orchestra, what the hell has he conducted in the calendar year 2012! Ok you can't blame one player but seriously you can sell Modric for £40m and replace him. Look at the quality Mata showed yesterday and has shown this season. He was like £26m??

So don't tell me Modric is irreplaceable or whatever. I think its a good time to cash in but you have to go and make some marquee signings to stop people like Bale wanting to leave

Has anyone from abroad made an offer?

If so, was it a club with a lot of wonga and prepared to pay?

Not to my knowledge, but if we were to intimate we were prepared to listen to offers then I'd be surprised if Chelsea/Utd/City were the only teams interested. Admittedly if Barcelona or Real were interested then we'd know all about it about two years in advance. But I'd still rather sell him abroad for a bit less than sell him to any of those bunch of shitfuckers, if possible.
