Definitely. An asset is only worth what output it provides an ask yourself if Lamela a £16m player. If the answer is no then sell.

I agree with most pundits; a season more for us. He has improved bit by bit and have to accept that we paid what we did and he's here now. If we (Pochettino and Coaches) cannot draw regular high level performances from him then I think it would be better to sell him after this season than persevere.

Of course, if someone came in and bid £25m for him, I think the club would consider it hopefully to put toward a 'first team ready' target who could fill a hole in our team.

He may never adapt to EPL for whatever reason (like Veron, Morientes, di Maria) despite being very good players. Lamela has already shown he can play in two different leagues but the EPL is very different.

I'd snap someone's arm off for £16mill. We won't get that much though.

People always say things like that and it is never true. Players don't go from £28m players to being worthless after a bad spell in a different country.

Lamela has a good reputation in Italy and good quality teams are reportedly interested. With his age and reputation we could command a decent fee for him still. Especially if interest from teams like Juventus is true.

16 million for someone who runs around giving needless fouls away and can't beat his man and struggles with his first touch is good business. Bite their hand off

If we do sell him I can pretty much guarantee it will be for an "undisclosed fee" I.E. We'll be a rather embarrassed by the loss we'll make on him. It would be the same sort of clubs who were in for Soldado. I.E. Not big spenders.

The lot of folk on this site who are jumping up and down about a poor substitue performance from lamela are doing my head in. Give over will you please and try giving the lad a bit of support instead of baying for his blood every time he has a poor game. It was not his fault we drew against Stoke.

We've always got to have a villain to create hundreds of threads about when they have a bad game.

Suppose it passes the time till Leicester do us

If his name was smith and we signed him from Hull for 2.5m you and all of Lamela's fans would cringe when his name was read out having performed the way he has

Lamela has only ever shown glimpses of what he can do in Europa or lower league teams like Burnley. It's very rare he's done anything special against a big team. I think a lot would disagree with me but I'd even do a swap deal for Bolasie, but that would probably be just me. I don't even think we'd be able to get 16m for Lamela, he hasn't really done anything to warrant that. I'm sure some one in the Italian top league would bid around 12m for him. Levy would be lucky to get half of the fee back

Amazing what a poor 20 mins can do for the poll. He was turd for 95% of last season but a few weeks back no one was allowed to say a bad word about him. Then he comes on on Saturday, puts his usual performance in and 80 percent want him gone. Lol

What would 16M get you nowadays is the question. Lamela has the potential to get much better.

If anyone would put 10 million down for him I'd take it. It's not working for him or us at the moment and a move back to Italy could be a win-win-win.

So we keep saying, but the evidence is getting thinner and thinner.

I genuinely think he's had two 8/10> games for us in the entire time he's been here. One was against QPR, the other was against a EL team I'd never even heard of before.

I'm not saying he won't get much better, but I am saying I don't expect him to. And I certainly wouldn't bet on it.

I'd only take 16m for him now if we could get in a replacement who could genuinely take the first 11 forward. If not, I'd stick.

A year less on his contract is not going to increase his re-sell value, and a t this stage it seems unduly optimisitic to think that his performances will - cash in now.
