I agree with most pundits; a season more for us. He has improved bit by bit and have to accept that we paid what we did and he's here now. If we (Pochettino and Coaches) cannot draw regular high level performances from him then I think it would be better to sell him after this season than persevere.

Of course, if someone came in and bid £25m for him, I think the club would consider it hopefully to put toward a 'first team ready' target who could fill a hole in our team.

He may never adapt to EPL for whatever reason (like Veron, Morientes, di Maria) despite being very good players. Lamela has already shown he can play in two different leagues but the EPL is very different.
If someone offers £25m we would do more than consider it, he would be gone in a heartbeat.

Read a quote here the other day that said he, ''looked like an over enthusiastic fan who'd won a raffle for a place on the team.'' Summed him up in one sentence. Great work rate, nice guy, just not a particularly great footballer

I saw that and deer in the headlights.

I have been hoping he would have the moment when the 'penny drops' and he realises what the English League is and he changes his game, moves the ball quickly, gets use to the fact centre halves are going to clatter into you. Sadly he still seems to have a look of surprise when someone knocks him of the ball, like he is still playing in Italy and not in a completely different league. I thought once he got use to the league he might adapt, but sadly its two years now and counting....

Yep
2 seasons of no impact whatsoever
Seems the most brain dead footballer in the world, awful decision making
Lots of better options out there

Question for everyone, if he had the season he had last year in his first season and this was his second would you be excited?

Half of me thinks we should cash in while we can, but the other half thinks this is really his second season, since he spent his first injured

If Juventus are really interested I'd dell him to them if they sold Asomoah to us or mutual loans with a fixed price buying option.. we get a ball playing midfielder who can defend & also cover left back & wing.. Then try to sign Morgan Sanson in January as the long term CM solution

No, very little excites me about Lamela.

16 million for someone who runs around giving needless fouls away and can't beat his man and struggles with his first touch is good business. Bite their hand off
This. Lamela has neither shown glimpses of prodigious talent (except against very weak Europa sides) or the ability to string games together at a decent level and contribute. At the moment, he's probably the worst winger we've had in a long time. He honestly offers nothing tangible at Prem level, how are people not seeing this?

Actually, I'd sell him for a lot less. What's the point in keeping someone so obviously out of his depth?

But the second season didn't give me any sit up and take notice moments aside from a Rabona against some Greek no marks.

Played against the best the quote good he's done very little.

16m would probably be a decent and realistic price for him

We probably haven't had to pay the whole 30 anyway and wouldn't lose too much on him

As long as we were able to bring in a replacement who could be a better player for us than him we should be snatching off hands to get 16m back for him and write him off as a poor signing amoung a bunch of poor signings

I don't think we will sell him though - it's too late in th3 window and we already have so much other work we need to get done in the market (let alone selling and replacing him)

He'll stay for another season, be relatively unimpressive again (although hopefully a bit more productive) and we will be hoping someone is willing to pay that much for him next summer

I actually voted yes. I had so much hope for him and Soldado, especially the latter as he was such a goal scorer, but towards the end of last season the Soldado hope died, now he's gone.

I always defended Lamela due to his work rate and enthusiasm but even that was missing at the weekend. It's going to be hard to defend him any more if he doesn't start playing this season.
