No, because I fucking like him.

On a more serious note, if he doesn't step it up this season, then we'll have to look for better alternatives or cut our losses. With N'jie, Pritchard and probably Berahino coming into the mix along with Dembele now being consideres for the same spot that Lamela is competing for, he bloody well has to if he's going to play.

I'd say he came out on top when competing with Townsend and Lennon last season, so he might be able to raise his levels with even more competition.

And you know, that through ball to Chadli against Hull still makes me hard.

Lamela did start to come into some form towards the back end of last season. He is a creative player. What I'm interested to see before I completely write him off, is Lamela playing in a team with pacey forwards off him. He hasn't had that in his entire Spurs career so far, but he does like and have an eye for a through-ball.

If we have N'Jie and Berahino/Hernandez up top, stretching space and allowing pockets behind for Lamela to run into and thread balls through, then we may see the best of him. If we don't, then yes, £16m at the end of the season would look a good deal...

Its not about the money. Its about what we could replace him with. If we could sign someone a lot better and more productive on goals (he did well on assists) then yes I probably would. If there aren't any better affordable options then I wouldn't.

We seem to have written him off this season, regardless of the progress of last, based on 1 pre-season match and 2 sub appearances in the league. I'm not sure that is fair.

Not for a minute saying that he is everything that we expected/wanted/ask him to be but with more game time injury free he progressed, maybe a year later that we'd like, but it was progress and contributing to the team.

If he doesnt add more to his game, look more comfortable in the premier league then next summer it should be assessed.

Don't waste your time being sensible. The village idiots have already lit their touches like walker last season, and rose the season before

Very possibly, although if there was just one of them I still think it could work well for Lamela. The problem I foresee is that IMO it would be up to him to push himself ahead of Eriksen and I don't see that happening:

.........Berahino..........Kane............N'Jie

................................Eriksen

...............................Berahino

..........Eriksen............Kane...........Lamela

That second formation is probably the only way I see him getting in regularly, bit like the way we set up against Everton (home) last season.

He still gets in the Argentina squad. If we get 16m we should sell provided we use the money on buying someone suitable to this league

He's had his second season and still not really shown enough.

I would take the 16 million and re-invest it into better quality attacking players.

We really do need to improve the quality of our attacking players.

Sorry Kaz... :-(

In answer to the original question, No, I wouldn't sell Lamela for 16 Mil.
I wonder why people are so eager to sell so many of our squad off...who is to say the replacements will fare any better and wont just end up to be the next scapegoat if we have a poor performance, just as Lamela is shaping up to be.

I think for his sake and ours yes. Just does not seem suited to the English game. He obviously has talent and physically he should have the tools but he can't seem to translate that into performances.

Him going would still leave us with Eriksen, Pritchard, Chadli, Dembele, Njie, Townsend and Onomah for the AM3. I personally would far prefer to give Pritchard and Onomah a crack at this stage as Lamela is not doing it.
