I just read 10 pages of debate about signing a player, even though I knew from page 1 that he...

will never join us again
will never be sold to us by Man Utd
will never be accepted by majority of Spurs fans.

I have too much time on my hands.

This man I really havbe no love for what so ever ! I for one jumped for joy when he missed his penalty. His attitude towards Spurs really made me hate this man with passion, I always never trused him and I was proved right. As far as I am concerend he can rot ! Anyway Up the Spurs,

Berbatov was hugely disrespectful to the club. It's unfortunate for him that the transfer saga rumbled on for so long and therefore he ended up going to the lengths he did to secure his dream move. If we had agreed a fee earlier in the summer (as with Keane or Carrick before him) then he may have had a far cleaner departure. Conversely, we don't know what length Keane or Carrick would have gone to if we'd have kept them at the club and not been able to agree deals with Liverpool and United respectively.

It seems to be a modern trend in football that if a player wants a move, he can generally get it. Levy got bitten in the Sol Campbell saga and then on decided to ensure that players sign long contracts (Keane) or are sold before they come to an end (Carrick). Unfortunately, player power has increased and thus contracts are now merely a way of ensuring a good price if someone wants out.

For all Berbatovs behaviour, I'd still take him back. He was a fantastic player for us, someone whos skill doesn't come along very often. It would be interested to know what Levy thinks on the matter, he took Keane back but would he consider buying back Berbatov and what would he be willing to pay to do so?

the only difference between tha keane and berba moves was that liverpool shit themselves about being accused of tapping up keane and made us an offer we couldn't refuse straight away and man u held out til the last minute. they were both apparently having a negative influence in the dressing room. i was more pissed off about the keane move because he had already forced defoe out of the club.

and we all knew that berba would move on if we didn't get CL.

So if we are able to forgive keane for jumping ship i can't see the difference in forgiving berba who was a far far better player.

it will never happen anyway

This is a very well reasoned case and sums up where modern football is. But I'd still be very reluctant to take him back, he showed little desire to play for us for basically the whole of the second year so for that reason I'd leave it alone.

I suggested this once already, and everyone seemed to laugh it off, but now the media jumps on his back everyone is talking about it. the guy is hated at united, fergie knows this and there'd be loads of pressure on him to accept a bid in the mid £20m range. i really do think we should make an offer in the summer, for reasons i've explained before.

definitely would take him back, he could be the difference for next season IMO. need a left winger if luka is going to move inside, or someone like muntari to play alongside palacios and that really is a team that SHOULD push on. berbatov is still world class, he's just lost his confidence at manure because he likes to be the star of the team.

People are quickly forgetting that he showed some loyalty in joining us in the first place when United made late moves to hijack the deal. He could have easily gone there instead

I think Levy said he wanted to leave after the first season.

May I be the first to use the "cheeky bid" cliche for this transfer window.
Do I get an award?
