I'm not holding out much hope, though I agree with you. Stellini was still there for the Sheff Utd and Wolves games, and they were as bad as we've been. But now he's in charge, maybe things will be different. I suspect they won't (after a brief reprieve against some shit side), but would obviously liked to be proven wrong.

Totally agree. Brill username BTW.

Supposing he absolutely smashes it and takes say 25 points from the remaining 30.

Reckon he gets the job?

Would we as fans want him permanently?
It would depend on how he got those points. If it was through attractive, well organised football, I’d give him a chance. All I want is a coach who looks like he’ll be able to make 11 men into a team, more than the sum of their parts. Rather than using them as an extension of his fucking ego…

Going to be very interesting what the outcome of the Everton match is. If we were to loose im not sure what Levy would do.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a man whose only previous managerial experience is limited to a disastrous tenure in Italy's third division. I'm sure he realises the magnitude of this opportunity for him and his career, and hope he makes the most out of it. He'll surely never get a chance to implement his own ideas and philosophy on a stage this big. That said, I'm not holding my breath.

The curious factor will be Mason's involvement.
It's reasonable to assume Stellini will move on in the summer, but Mason will stick around (maybe back to the academy, maybe with 1st team).
So Ryan may feel empowered to push his own ideas forward more. Various quotes show a good relationship between the two of them.
If Mason makes the case for a more progressive set up and more pressing, we could be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not expecting anything groundbreakingly different; injuries have put paid to that even if Stellini fancied changing it up. What I am hoping for is that which appeared to happen when Conte was missing earlier this season; that the players engaged higher, and that they were more relaxed and felt able to play.

Stellini and Mason did also tactically change things when certain situations were not working. This is something many feel Conte just never did, me included.

When Mason and Stellini pushed Dier into Midfield when pressing against City that was the most balanced we looked for a long time. It seemed like something they did without Conte's involvement, and it didn't really happen after that match which suggests Conte vetoed the tactic.

In any case, I'm taking it as a postive sign that now they are not operating under Conte's shadow they will try a few tactical tweaks while still building on the general Conte approach which the players are used to, and they can get the best of this team for the rest of the season. It's called blind optimism.

Well any hope of big changes went out the window with the international injuries.

we have one fit fullback/wingback

3 cms fit.

Personally we have to play 3 5 2 now, Kulu rotating with sarr at cm and play porro and danjuma as attacking wing backs.

I think if Richy is fit and we make good use of Paskotsi and Danjuma, we have a fit LWB and we can have a strongish left side at least
ATM I think Everton will win, but if we can get team selection right we will have a good chance of three points

Lucas can play right wing back at a pinch, he actually looked quite promising there in pre season. Of course the problem then is that Porro would have to play LWB.

Needs must when the devil drives as my mum used to say.

We have various choices at WB, at least 4.
After reading various posts I think Porro and Danjuma are the best choices, but wouldnt mind Sarr as LWB

Didn't we try that the following game and ended up conceding when Dier got pulled too far up the field?

Hope he realises what an opportunity he has here, to come out of the shadows and stake a claim...

I really really hope our fans acknowledge that HE is in charge and not Mason. So Stellini should get the plaudits for the good and the criticism for the bad. I can already envisage some of our fans saying "oh you can see Mason's influence" if we win and "Stellini is fucking useless" if we lose.
