definitely sad to see him go..he was strong and our 3rd best centre back at the moment...let alone what he might become.. also upsetting to see him go to portsmouth who have the same aims as us..
still good luck to him! He might bump out sol!

Doen't make any sense......Keeping Dawson and gettin rid of Kaboul.

Because Dawson is currently the better defender.

Kaboul may have the potential to be very good but at the moment he would have been considered 4th choice CB and I'm not sure his ego or development could cope with that.

Ramos ethos seems to be simply to pick the better player and if we want to challenge the top four this season he needs to be ruthless about it.

I think this has nothing to do with his skills or potential. I think that Ramos just didn't like him.

Just wonder why Dawson is still around. Great lad but average player..:-|

I really didn't care much for Chimbonda and Kaboul. I wish them well, but I won't be missing them

Because Ramos has a track record of turning players that have a great attitude to working hard on and off field yet are seen as average and turning them into very good players. Lets hope he can do the same with Dawson.

Attitude is one of the biggest things about Juande & Kaboul seemed to have it all wrong.

I'm surprised the Rocha, KPB & LYP moves haven't happened yet. What the hell is going on with those 3?

He didn't have a good last season but the one before I thought he did really well at the back, I'd have preferred to just loan out Kaboul for a season and see how it faired.

Shocked at how much the club paid for him given his previous lack of experience in the premier league but i guess being an under 21 international adds the value of a player to a degree. Not the best bit of business for Comolli/Levy

We have sold a really talented defender, and I am sure we will regret it, as some others have written above. I cannot believe that we could not give him more chances. He is still young, for sure a good player! It is really sad to see him leaving us.

Again, Harry Redknapp manage to strike a great transfer deal for them! All credit to him. Portsmouth will do well. They have a great side now. I think that we will have problems to beat Portsmouth in both matches. They are a tough team to meet.

But we did give him a second chance after the first time he went public with his thoughts. Sometimes all the talent in the world is worth sacrificing if the person in question is an absolute arsehole and doesn't get along with the rest of the players and coaches. Just look at the way Fergie threw Stam and RvN out of the door when they started acting up.

Maybe Kaboul will shine at Pompey, but given his negativity and awful conduct in the press I'm honestly quite glad to see him gone.

And seriously, we will beat Pompey at home and should at least draw away. They aren't THAT good. And why do you presume Kaboul will play ahead of Distin and Campbell this season anyway?

Selling him on at a loss after only 1 season is bad business without having some kind of sell on clause. IF we do have a clause Id still rather of seen one more season of him under the new regime.

Not that fussed with him. Always about players with potential, but who never make the grade. We move on and if we get Corluka, we have a much better replacement.

Case of a player getting to much football, to fast. He was never ment to play half as many games as he did last year, his first season. But injuries forced him into the starting 11.

i think this one may come back to bight us in the arse!!

Kaboul's attitude was questionable in response to being dropped, quoted in the media that he wanted out of here.

Well he's got his wish and wont come back to haunt us.
