It appears a couple of papers are running with the £3m price. Doesn't sit with the £23m for the 4 Sunderland were prepared to pay. Something is very wrong here.

It means nothing. Time and time again this summer we've seen one paper's story repeated by half-a-dozen others.

Transfer dealings these days are all cloak and dagger. In the good old days all transfers and fees were in the public domain. Now days there appears to be a high number of undisclosed deals, which obviously leads to the mass speculation relating to the exact fee for that player, where 99% of the statements are incorrect...... The Sun being the biggest culprit.

If people still need convincing of how lazy and stupid the Sun's sports desk is, they're suggesting that Benitez will try for Villa if Keane falls through.

SS57 even £23m must be made up, I cant see us getting £6 average for these 4 players?
Tainio 3 Chimbo 5 Steed 5 ? makes Kaboul 10? but if it is 23 well done Levy.

Kaboul will go for £8m, we wouldn't be selling him at a loss this soon! If Jasper is to be believed, the bid was £7.5m cash upfront...

Three mil for Kaboul , much better to keep him he will be a 20mil player in two/three years time.Dont let him go to Harry he has all our best players , Defoe, Kaboul, at this rate they will finish above us. I think the Kaboul sale could come back and bite us on the arse

The only way I can see the fee being £3mill is if we have 100% sell on clause in the contract.

I could see a deal something like £4m plus add ons for appearances etc plus say a 50% sell on fee

I don't think there'd be a 100% sell on fee - because why would Pompey then sell him?

i can't remember which site, but i read Kaboul and Malbranque both valued £15m from £23 deal, but according to other sites last week, the deal £18-£21m ... so the stories aren't clear about fees.

but while it's believed Sunderland paid £8m for TT and Chimbonda, Kaboul £6-8m, Malbranque rated as £4m, I think it's between £18-20m.

My god its so funny to see how many talent scouts we have on this site. Every seems to think they have exactly what it takes to judge talent and a players potential.

The only reason i have to believe Kaboul will be a great player in the future is the high transfer fee we paid for a young player. The majority of performances ive seen of Kaboul have been okay to poor. With a few exceptions. Sure he played alot alongside a fellow young inexperienced player in Daws, but still there has been nothing in his performances to suggest he will be a World class phenom.

i definitely think that he can become a top top defender but he just needs to learn to keep it simple and needs to be played next to someone experienced imo he was dropped in to the deep end too quickly and did not have a safety net like richards did at city. he always had dunne to cover for him when he was out of position.

Kaboul snubs Black Cats for Pompey

Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul has turned down a move to Sunderland and wants to join Portsmouth, according to his agent.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp had voiced concerns that his side were third in the race, behind Sunderland and Aston Villa, to sign the Tottenham defender.

But the 24-year-old's agent revealed the Frenchman has turned down the chance to join Pascal Chimbonda and Teemu Tainio at Sunderland and wants to join Portsmouth, although no fee has yet been agreed with Spurs.

Kaboul's agent Rudy Raba told The News: "He wants to go to Portsmouth - he would prefer to go there.

"Sunderland wanted to know within 24 hours but, while he is thankful to Roy Keane for his interest, the boy has decided he does not want to go there."

He really does have an obsession with Portsmouth. Do you think he's in love with JD? Maybe he wants to be close to France for his imports & exports business...I hear it rivals Jol's dodgy Trevor Francis tracksuits business.
