Thought I would start a thread to discuss who people out there think will be next season's O'Hara. Hopefully the new 7 subs rule will mean that even more youngsters get a chance in the coming season.

Anyone out there going reguarly to Academy games or reserve fixtures would obviously have more info than the rest, but I read somewhere that the two players Ramos rates particularly highly are Archibald-Henville and Danny Rose.

Opinions?

i think Tarrabt will be the main one, he is almost breaking in and with the 7 subs he should get more of a go.. if he doesnt go on loan!

but ther are afew good contenders who can make it if we get an injury or two, or suspentions, lets just hope who ever gets there chance does well

Which the frailty of both our top CB's I'd say TAH.

Otherwise, I'd be tempted to say Bostock.

I think one of the ITKs (maybe Dan Ashcroft, although could be wrong) said that Ramos wasn't impressed with Tarrabt's displays when he got on at the end of last season, particularly against Newcastle where he lost the ball dribbling and they promptly went up the park and scored. His skill is unquestionable, but will he be able to utilise it to a team ethic??

Couldnt agree more with this bit, i have said for along time i dont think he plays as a team player but has shown he has sthe skill, i am just hoping a pre season under ramos and with the rest of the squad may help him and show that even if he is good, or going to be a great player, he still has to play as a team.

If it was me i would pick 2 or 3 other players, give them a ball and tell them to keep the ball and move up the pitch while putting 5 or 6 or so players in the way to try and stop them! would make him have to think about where teammates are, where defenders are, and where to play a ball for someone to move onto into space!

I don't see any to be honest. I think Tarrabt will go out on loan and the first team will have enough youngsters with Gio and Bale.

Pekhart is training with the first team at the moment, and this leads me to believe he may be considered good enough as our fourth choice striker, and therefore will make a few appearances this season in the Carling and maybe even the UEFA.

Doubt it, he's not nearly ready yet.

Dervitte will be the one.

if all goes as well as we hope there won't be much room for any of the youth team. I have a feeling Troy will be in and around the first team squad on occasion and he is most likely of all the youth/ressies to get a few games by next may.

I don't include bostock or two saints.

Before his injury Dervitte was the one on the periphary. I'd have him over dopey Dawson.

The one to look out for is Dean Parrett. Possibly not this year but the next. Really stands out from his age group when on England duty.

Id like to see Danny Rose play, i dont know if he can be the next break through player, but id like to see him at least make a few sub appearances.

TAH looked a better player than Dervitte the couple of times I saw them near the end of the season, but Dervitte had just come back from an injury so putting that down to lack of form
Pekhart needs to go on loan to a championship club to get some experience, as don't think he's even ready to play for any of the newly promoted teams
Not sure on Rose as haven't seen much of him, but as he was on the bench once last season I guess he could be on a few more with the new 7 sub rule

I don't think anyone will make a breakthrough, similar to O'hara's last season. Maybe Danny Rose or TAH will get a game or two, or even Bostock.

Taarabt and Boateng don't fall into this category, as they have already featured a lot.

Me too - I've heard he's like a left-sided Lennon that can cross better. Problem for him is he's gonna have Dos Santos and Steed ahead of him as things are now.

There's a few players I'd also like to see maybe in minor matches (like 2nd leg of a carling game and we're well ahead); Bostock, Alnwick, Pekhart, Dervitte, Archie-H, Berchiche, Olsen and even Parrett - but when we're signing the likes of Modric, Gomes and Dos Santos it doesn't look like we'll see any of them soon unless they're REALLY good.

This pre-season will be crucial for all those youngsters who were injured last season and there were a fair few of them

its a shame we let beriche (sp) go back to bilboa as thought he might have had a chance of few sub appearances this year with 7 subs and our usual struggle for LB's.
agree with above though would like to see rose because he came with a big rep

did we not send him back there on loan only? i know there was talk of them wanting him back, but i dont remember seeing anything about us selling him?

edit - thinking about it, i think we still ahve him but is he or was he not injured for a fair bit of last season at the end?
