Might sound stupid, but the friendlies had a really nice "family" feel to them in the old WHL.

No one really swearing or calling out players - just a general enjoyable experience, especially in nice weather, even if the highs were no where near as high as a competitive game.

The officials even had a pre-match dance off in front of the east stand that day

Beating Chelsea in the league for the first time in 15-16 years. Lennon grabbed the winner and that **** Terry got sent off. The place was rocking.

And the last NL derby at WHL had a real party atmosphere. Plus I had moved abroad and wasn't able to come to more than a couple of games a season. It might have been the only time I saw that great team in the flesh.

The Legends match at the new stadium, when Gazza came on. The reception he got was so emotional, and completely deafening.

Wembley against Genk

Brought my missus to her first ever game, we were about 4 or 5 rows from the front. Dele made that nasty lunge right in front of us. Turned to her and said that's a red, seconds later it was a red. Kane scored an own goal.

Really actually enjoyed the occasion though. The players warmed up in front of us, Kane pinging shots into the corner was a sight to behold.

Never brought her again. Never bringing her again.

Standing at the corner flag with my nephew singing "You'll never play for england" to Darren Huckerby, and then bigging up Darren Anderton in the 2nd half every time he came to take a corner. He gave my nephew a wink and smile. Made his day! Nephew was 12 or 13 at the time IIRC.

Though I've been getting over once or twice a year since the mid-90s, being American means I've only 30 or so live occasions from which to choose. Though there've been some good ones - Madrid at Wembley, Man City in the CL quarter first leg*, an NLD or two - it's got to be (as one or two have already mentioned) the 2-1 over Chelsea in November of 2006. Specifically, the moment when Keane's deflected cross settled to Lennon ... the momentary hush that came over the ground and he pulled it over to his left foot ... and the explosion that came when he buried it. I still get a rush when I think of it.

I've been to the biggest club venues in England, Spain, Germany, Portugal, and elsewhere. I've seen countless national games, including World Cups, myriad qualifiers, Copa Americas, etc. But I can't think of anything quite like that Chelsea match. If the Lane ever sounded better than that afternoon, I certainly wasn't there. Brilliant, that one.

*still my only time thus far to the new stadium. Thanks covid.

I started supporting Spurs as my cool cousin did - who passed away at an early age . First time to the stadium was a 1-1 with Villa!
Best memory is at Wembley(temp home) against Real Madrid and then going to the Torch and singing along with the happy mob!

Tottenham 3-1 Man United, and Tottenham 2-2 Man United. Fergie in charge of United, I was young and always expected us to be trounced. Sol Campbell’s late header in the draw that saw us claw the game back from 2-0 down. I was sat right behind Stephen Carrs absolute rocket shot. Tottenham 2-1 Man United, last game at the Lane.

Favourite away games Milan 0-1 Spurs, was in with the home fans, nervously edged towards the exit after Crouchy shin bobbled it in.

The other one burnt into my soul is Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham, Boxing Day game, we went down to 10 men but still dominated possession and played them off the park. It was a master class from Modric VDV Bale and Lennon, the second goal on the break sent me into a frenzy.

Well I hate the red of Bumbley so much I refused to go and I have never been inside the new stadium and probably never will.
Therefore the trick is to pluck a diamond out of a pile of zirconia.
No idea of the year but it is so long ago that fans had no Interwibble to call out other fans. If you wanted "agro" you stood in the PL/Shelf/Paxton and waited for Mile End or the Rent Boys to turn up.
Anyway this is an old tale from the PL...............end of Part1

Taking a massive wooden rattle to the games. My Dad bought it and I painted it blue & white, with 'Spurs' painted in Old English font. I was a little kid, so it wasn't easy to swing it, but it made a hell of a noise. Wouldn't be allowed these days!

The Mile End used to chase us around the ground regardless of wherever we were.

Mine still is the 84 Uefa Cupe final. I was only 13, and we had season tickets back then in the 2nd tier East Stand. I can remember the Tony Parks penalty, and all the adults around me couldn't look. Being a fearless young teenager my eyes were glued to action I was the first person in the vicinity to jump up and cheer before everyone started going crazy. I still look back on that night and feel like I was the first person in the entire stadium to start screaming.

Fantastic night, and still brings a lump to my throat remembering Burkinshaw, his last game in charge, walking round the pitch with the trophy.

Happy Memories.

My favourite friendly was the one where Davids was first signed, unbelievable atmosphere when he was warming up on the sidelines. No idea who we played or the score just remember thinking we were finally hitting the big time along with everyone else in the stadium.

Sonny's first sonic goal against Chelsea, was right behind the goal which he scored in, such a great goal and even better to do it against those fuckers. I went ape shit.

The best atmosphere I've experienced NAT the new stadium was the Man City CL game, loved it from start to finish.

Another nice memory for me is the game against Crystal Palace at WHL September 2015. I think it was Sonny’s first PL start for us and he also scored our goal in the second half. I sat near the half way line in the east stand which was a first for me. It was a different experience with all the talking and shouting to the players (mostly to the opponents and the refs) from people around me. I learned a lot of new words that day :) Kyle Walker took a throw in just in front of me and it was quite surreal to be so close.

Maybe it’s not that special to you but for me it was. A nice little memory.

I got married in Southend at 10 am, stopped for some photos. My wife popped home to get changed while I stayed in the Blue Boar pub in Southend. We then both went up to White Hart Lane to see Spurs beat Millwall 2-0. This was 10th December 1988 when Millwall were briefly in the top tier. I got into a heated row with some Millwall fans outside the ground. Got blood over my wedding suit from the altercation. Inside the ground there was skirmish on the Shelf near were my new bride and I were standing. Spurs won which is a great. Waddle & Gazza. Kept out of any altercations outside the ground as we made our way across to South London to see Nigel Benn knock out David Noel in a couple of rounds. Got into.a melee when it went off near us between rival fans. These are the only two sporting events my wife has ever been to. We've been married 33 years and my wife is still shell shocked about our honeymoon.

My perception from a person who's living abroad is that football in England was way more violent back in the days than it is today. Is this correct? I don't think I have seen even a glimpse of violence when attending games but maybe I have just been spared. Would be interesting to know though.

Think it was Inter Milan, it was baking that day.
