For left back: Ben Davies. Massively impressing for Swansea, would cost less than Shaw by a fair amount. Money we could then spend on Schneiderlin & Lallana. Bring in Lescott too.

Gomes, Dawson, Dembele, Falque, Sigurdsson & Adebayor out.
This.

Schneiderlin and any one of Sandro/Dembele/Capoue/Paulinho alongside him would be a dynamite CM/DM two.

I am genuinely baffled by how many people want us to sign Schneiderlin. Yes, he's a very good player, but why would we spend £15m(+?) on another DM.

We're already overstocked with central midfielders that don't create, why the fuck would we add another one? If we buy a CM it's surely got to be one with vision and an eye for a pass.

I think he's a quality player. His development is being severely affected out on the left for United, he's a striker, and always has been. When he's played there for United he's scored goals.

I'm sure people probably thought the same of Sturridge before he went to Liverpool.

If we spent £45 million on those three then I would be extremely disappointed.

We also need quality and no more depth so Rodriguez would be pointless; Konoplyanka or Munian would be my realistic picks and Griezzmann as my dream pick.
Wouldn't mind Kono but i'd like someone who could play as a striker as well. Ben Davies is there because it'd probably be too expensive to target anyone else with the money already spent, plus he's a solid left back and an upgrade on Rose. As for Welbeck it's a misconception that he's a poor player. He's always out of position for United.

I think sturridge is clearly more talented than welbeck and always have, better touch, skill, harder shot as well as being morr clinical, while welbeck works harder and is more of a team player, welbeck wouldn't be my choice gor a signing personally

That squad is seriously lacking in quality, a few injuries and we'd be playing a team of inexperienced kids/mediocre players
Wouldnt say it lacks quality but does give the kids a chance. We have some very good young players in Carroll, Pritchard, Kane & Fryers who will not progress at tottenham unless given games, so the manager needs to be brave.

Also part of the problem we had last year with new signing was that none of them had a decent run in the team as we had to many players to keep happy.

On a seperate note, after appointing Poch I would probably now swap Naughton for Calum Chambers and Lescott for Garay

Poch's formation at Southampton often looked a 4-2-3-1 on paper, but that central attacking midfielder had to work very hard and contribute defensively, so Steve Davies was often deployed in this position. So when they were out of a possession, it was a genuine 3-man midfield pressing hard to win back possession. I'm not quite sure whether Eriksen could replicate that intensity and work rate defensively, so he may take up Lallana's position, which was usually on either wing as the creative spark of the side. On the opposite wing, Jay Rodriguez played almost as an auxiliary striker, willing to run in behind the backline and attack the goal.

Can't think of an outstanding yet realistic striking option. Due to Kane being a very similar player to Lambert - so much so that Southampton were reportedly wanting to loan him in January - I think he could well be considered good enough to play second fiddle to a main striker. Even then, if you plan to play a one striker system, it's a good idea to have three options. Maybe someone like Loic Remy (seeing as Jay Rodriguez has a serious injury), who's capable of playing that lone striker role as well as being versatile enough to play on either wing.

EDIT: Changed the backup RB to Gino Peruzzi, a very highly rated young Argentine who was linked with us in early May. His club Catania were relegated and are supposedly asking for £4-5m for him. Both Milan clubs have also been linked.

Also brought back Rose and Dembele, because I think with the right coaching, they could adapt and improve.

Would like to see a max of 4/5 players in dont think another high turnover of players is what we need.
IN: cole , lescott as a leader type, lukaluka/benteke and konpanyanka (sp)? Cost £35?
Out: Ade, Holtby , one of sandro/ capoue/Dembele/Paulinho

it is SO early it makes this a tough one....

I am not over-keen on signing loads of soton players,.... shaw and lallana seem to be the only 2 who would improve Spurs, but neither seem likely to arrive at WHL.

So, let's start with a core of top players to build around:

Lloris, Walker, Vertonghen, Paulinho, Eriksen, and Lamela as the central core/foundation.

Need a LB desparately and a real "Go To" striker who can create chances for himself and score against the top teams. I can't see chel$ki agreeing to sell Lukaku to Spurs, can you? Jay Rodriguez was interesting before he blew his knee out, so was Benteke. Not sure who fits the description AND would want to come to WHL with only EUROPA footie next year.

That LB from Wolfsburg seems pretty popular here on SC, but I have never seen him play. But, he must be better than Rose,... not sure what to think of Fryers yet.

Another obvious problem for Poch is to cull the CM herd: Sigi, Livermore, Carroll, Bentaleb, Dembele, Sandro, Capoue, and Holtby.

Sandro and Dembele have the talent, but their injury history is a concern, but I say keep them with ample cover. So, I say sell Sigi, Capoue, and Carroll (additional plans for him later). Shocker, keep Livermore as a cheap back up for DM in case of injury - so that's Sandro, Bentaleb, and Livermore at DM (covered). I actually like Capoue, but he was a totally unnecessary buy. I think Poch will like Holtby and shape him into just what he wants.

Now, if there is some glimmer of hope that Spurs can actually sign Lallana, then they could send Carroll and Livermore the other way - soton will need cheaper players to fill the holes created by player exodus. Just an idea...

Spurs have a huge squad at the moment, so they need to have a more of a balance to the team. Basically get some of those CMs out and a couple wingers and a LB in.... a top, top striker is the dream, but we'll see. There are other needs at centre back and back up keeper etc, but this is early days so I just wanted to start with the foundation.

I like the new manager selection and I am hoping he will keep Herr Freund onboard.

I'm getting a little wheeler-dealer but this is a deal. 19 year old second striker Muamer Tankovic has left Fulham on a free. I know we have to pay a development fee but still wonderful chance to pick up a very talented kid. Sounds a lot like holtby but from what i've seen Tankovic looks a lot more technically gifted to pass/create/score from the #10 position, where other than Eriksen we are short at.

Scored a hat-trick against our U21's, although that Fulham U21 side were superb all season.

Looks a talent, and would be a no-brainer on a free. Patrick Roberts is another to keep an eye on for Fulham, one of the best prospects in the country.

Sell Siggy, Lennon, Dawson, Rose and maybe Ade. Buy Davies, Lovren, Schneiderlin and Michy Batshuayi. Send Nabil on loan to QPR or Hull.

Naughton/Walker --- Lovren/Kaboul --- Vlad/ Verts --- Davies/ Fryers

---------------Sandro/Capoue/Milos---- Paulinho/Schneiderlin/Carroll--------------

----Dembele/Lamela-------- Eriksen/Holtby/Falque----------Townsend/Chadli---

I agree that we may see Eriksen placed in Lallana's position more to the left, but I think Holtby is a great candidate for the central spot. His play style seems tailor made for a Poch type player. He's got tremendous work rate and is well known for his propensity to use chip passes over defenders and through balls which are both things that it seems like Poch really tries to adapt his players to doing.

It was a tough call between Holtby and Sigurdsson for that position. I like both of them, but went for Gylfi because of his extra goal threat and his home-grown status. That and his attacking movement and instinct makes him a better like-for-like backup to Paulinho. I also think his work-rate isn't far off Holtby's, although the German has slightly better vision.

It will be interesting to see what Poch decides to do with Lewis, because as you say, he has qualities conducive to the new manager's style of play.

Another one I rate is Dembele, but for all his qualities, I think he lacks some of the attributes needed to play in a high-pressing, quick-passing midfield. Despite being very strong when defending one-on-one, he actually doesn't press that well. And again, despite being extremely skilful and excellent at shielding the ball, he doesn't release the ball quick enough and isn't particularly creative.

I actually hope Poch sees potential in him to adapt with good coaching, but I suspect we'll make a move for Schneiderlin eventually, who's perfectly suited to the manager's tactics.

I haven't read back through the thread but I normally post about our 25 man squad for next season and I thought here was as good a place as any.

With the end of the season we have all of our loan players back and also for next season Eriksen, Lamela and Fryers will no longer count as U21 players so as of now we have a massive squad that will need trimming if Pochettino wants to bring in players.

Brad Friedel 18/05/1971
Michael Dawson 18/11/1983
Emmanuel Adebayor 26/02/1984
Benoît Assou-Ekotto 24/03/1984
Roberto Soldado 27/05/1985
Younes Kaboul 04/01/1986
Hugo Lloris 26/12/1986
Bongani Khumalo 06/01/1987
Aaron Lennon 16/04/1987
Jan Vertonghen 24/04/1987
Moussa Dembélé 16/07/1987
Étienne Capoue 11/07/1988
Paulinho 25/07/1988
Kyle Naughton 11/11/1988
Sandro 15/03/1989
Nacer Chadli 02/08/1989
Gylfi Sigurdsson 08/09/1989
Vlad Chiricheș 14/11/1989
Jake Livermore 14/11/1989
Yago Falque 04/01/1990
Kyle Walker 28/05/1990
Danny Rose 02/06/1990
Jonathan Obika 12/09/1990

Lewis Holtby 18/09/1990
Ryan Mason 13/06/1991
Andros Townsend 16/07/1991

Christian Eriksen 14/02/1992
Erik Lamela 04/03/1992
Tom Carroll 28/05/1992
Zeki Fryers 09/09/1992
Ryan Fredericks 10/10/1992

Home grown players are in bold.

Obviously a lot of them will be gone, but I didn't realise just how many players we have on our books.

Remember EPL rules state we can only have a maximum of 17 foreign players in the squad.
