I think people are visualising Davids miraculously preserved as he was in September 2005. As a current option, Steed would be first call.

As Comolli and Levy brought in six of those players and Levy was involved in bringing in four of the others, how have they ruined it?

Actually, take that as a rhetorical question, otherwise a good thread will turn into another Levy/Comolli/Ramos-bashing session.

Oh for this you are allowed to transport the players back to a time when they were at thier best under any or all of the aforementioned regimes. Davids first season Kings 05/06 season, Lennons 05/06 season, Berbatov's 06/07 season, Keanes 07/08 season etc

Ok... you do realise every player in your sqaud bar-King was signed under Levy?

Or are you not letting the facts get in the way of an illogical and ill-informed hatred?

It seems some people are going by how good player have been for other clubs in other leagues...ala Modric, he is not in my starting lineup purely because I have not had long enough to rate him in a Spurs shirt in the EPL.

Do you have any evidence or arguments to support these crazy allegations? Or is that not your style?

And I also think we've been guilty of thinking King could last more than 2 matches in a row!

Oh, and well done SS57  - it's turned into a punch-up between Chris and Jonesy

Gomes
Hutton King Woodgate Bale
Lennon Carrick Modric Malbranque
Berbatov Keane

This is based on current form. Davids is too old - Malby was one of the top 5 tacklers in the premiership last season and I was very sad to see him go. Team pretty much picks itself.

thats no current form is it. Hutton can't walk, King can only walk every other day and Modric hasn't settled.

Base it when they are in thier prime for us. Davids in his prime etc...

maybe people will put in a case for Robinson in his prime over Gomes

Maybe if they're crazy!

I abso-friggin-lutely love Gomes... maybe not the most technically sound goalie in the world, but fun to watch, as he does seem to be able to recover well despite his complete lack of positional awareness... Gratuitous diving ftw!

there's not doubting malbranque technically for Spurs was better with the ball than Davids but Davids at his best for us did more to affect the performance of the players around him that's why he would get the nod on the left above Steed and only a berk would disagree.

Goalkeepers : Gomes, Robinson, Cesar

Right Back : Hutton, Chimbonda

Central Defence : Woodgate, King, Naybet, Dawson

Left Back : Bale, Lee

Right Midfield : Lennon, Bentley

Central Midfield : Carrick, Zokora, Jenas, Modric

Left Midfield : Malbranque, Davids

Strikers : Berbatov, Keane, Defoe & Mido

Starting 11 would have to be :-

--------------Gomes---------------
Hutton----King----Woodgate----Bale
Lennon----Jenas---Carrick---Davids
--------Berbatov-----Keane-------

Its a shame Berbatov never got to play with a Carrick'esque playmaker behind him, he would have scored quite a few more goals, and I think our defence would definetly have been more stable. Top 4 easily achievable with such a team. The capability to score goals and stop them going in. Once we lost carrick the goals against column took a dramatic boost in the wrong direction, but the arrival of Berbatov helped in making the goals for column outshine it.

Now we have lost Berbatov and Keane, the goals are not going in, and carrick has never been replaced so we continue to concede at normal spurs rate.

Is it really any wonder that we cant win games? We cant score, and we cant defend, not the greatest of combinations is it..
