I think Zokora is a very poor player, in fact he is a shocking central midfielder. Only reason i don't hate him is because he gives 100% everytime he plays and it's the managers responsibility to drop him. Jenas should play the defensive side of the central midfield role with modric playing the attacking role unless of course we buy a quality defensive midfielder.

I have no real problem with any of the Zokora hating, I disagree, but have no problem with it. Where my problem comes in is that many of the same posters like Jenas? He is so ridiculously poor for the majority of the time, yet Zokora gets all of the stick?

We need much better than either player, but to pick out Zokora when Jenas is at least as bad and mostly worse just shows that people make their minds up about a player and that's it.

Anyways, if i found a pic of Kaka standing a hundred yards from Titus Bramble i wouldn't start slating him for not being up to the pace. what happened directly after that photo was taken then? Did he skin Zoko or did Zoko keep up, hassle him until he made a mistake? Did he poke a toe in and halt the oppo making a break, when the rest of the defence were still upfield watching? :shrug:

I know, i know, you don't know but you like to think that the pic you posted illustrates... i dunno, something bad about Zoko.

If anything it just shows Zoko going about business, hassling the man.

Not sure Zokora is quite as bad as your making out. I refer to him as 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' and this is why:

The Good:
(i) Fantastic Engine and ability to get up and down the pitch all day
(ii) Gives 110% every game and clearly means allot to him (more then can be said for others)
(iii) Has the ability to burst from deep midfield with the ball and open holes in oppositions midfield
(iv) Decent skill and ball control
(v) Hurries the opposition and can be a general pain in the arse to get past

The Bad:
(i) Passing is hit and miss
(ii) Clumsy tackler and gives allot of fouls away in dangerous positions
(iii) A lack of composure when put under pressure

The Ugly:
(i) Shooting! I've seen school kids with more accurate shooting then Zoko.

SUMMARY:
He reminds me very much of Steffen Freund...and ultimately, he was not good enough either despite being a fan fave. I love Zoko's passion and commitment (just as I did with Freundy), but I think he needs to be replaced in the midfield if we're to progress!

I rate Zokora and one thing you cant knock him for is giving 100%. He is never going to be a stand out player being a DMC but gives the team much needed steel and mobility. Maybe if all of the spurs players bothered to give 100% every week we wouldn't be in the position we are currently in.

Zokora is a headless chicken if you build the midfield on the defensive midfield position he offers absolutely nothing. He is like watching a little kid play football he plays with absolutely no intelligence. Any midfielder playing next to him in the center of the park is crippled by him because they can't create as much as they would like to because they cannot take a risks because if they end up to far up the pitch and the attack fails the game will pass them by in a matter of seconds and they will be able to launch a counter attack so his midfield partner can not be part of any attack. Everyone says he has a great engine which means he ball chases for most of 90 mins. Zokora lacks strength, the ability to control the momentum of the game, cannot distribute the ball well into attackive positions and he can't hold up the ball. While if Zokora did not have the combination of pace and stamina he would not be a professional footballer.

While most spurs fans see this guy running around for 90 min I wonder what percentage is in possession of the ball and what percentage is ball watching. While if you compare him to the last three players spurs had who could play that position (Carrick, Davids and Mendes) All three of the players could read a game so they did not need to move as much and what I do not understand is how so many of the posters on this site accused Carrick of being lazy the fact is because of his ability and brain he did not have to do as much.

The fact is since the arrival of Zokora we have not had an effective midfield but the cracks were papered over by the abilities of Keane and Berbatov that the other midfielder did not have to be that creative and could support Zokora more.
